Aww, my heart hurts for Billie's family. Losing a pet is so, so hard. Rocky was such a cutie — he was around as long as I've been into Green Day.

Rocky definitely lived a good, long life. He must've been like 17 human years or so.

I went back on Instagram, and it appears that in June of 2016, Billie wished him a Happy 13th Birthday on Instagram, so it appears that he was about 14 human years old. If one goes by the general 1=7 rule (do people still use that?) , it would place Rocky at 98ish. 
Definitely a good, long life, as you put it.

So sad. Many of us have had to say goodbye to our beloved dog companions before and it really hurts- I'm still not completely over the experiences I've had. It's the one flaw about dogs I can think of...their time with us is painfully short. But it's still worth it.

And if Rocky happened to hang on until they got back today I wouldn't be the least bit surprised- dogs are always extremely aware of when it's time to go or let go. Not to generate a discussion about the specifics here but more of a general statement- I've always found it remarkable how dogs will let you know when its their time and pass on their terms. They're such incredibly smart and noble creatures.

I'm sure he was a wonderful dog. My thoughts are genuinely with him and his family.

I definitely believe you and Billie, I was going based on a picture of Joey in which he looked about 5 or 6 years old, Rocky was in that picture, and Joey is now 22. Also, Rocky was in that "Speedy the Fish" clip from like 2002. Maybe he was like 15.

This is strange, I would swear I saw Rocky in Billie's presidential election video from 2000. Now I'm not sure if it was him or another dog.
