Will 2017/2018 be the time for Green Day to release a new DVD Live Album?

I don't think they'll release a live album before 2018 given that their third North American leg (sixth in total) is in August and they still have to add a Southern American and Pacific leg to the tour. As mentioned above, the setlists haven't changed dramatically since the American club tour (aside from the addition of Forever Now) and there are indeed no songs on the set lists which have not yet already appeared on Bullet In a Bible or Awesome As Fuck. Sure, there's Armatage Shanks and Scattered and the five RevRad songs, but they'll probably spice things up come spring. Besides, it would be stupid to release a live album before the end of the world tour. A live album is also intended to keep us sweet during the hiatus until 13 drops (2019/2020). The more performances they can pick from me, the more epic it will be.

Wrigley or Rose Bowl are the best candidates for a live release of this tour in my opinion.

You're a Green Day fan with the opinion is the way a live DVD should be shot? I love it.  I think it was also incredibly done but you might be the first GD fan I've ever not say that MK BIAB isn't the best concert footage in the world, which it is one of IMO but Cuatro and AAF were some awesome live shit.  I don't think Green Day gets their propers for their live music because as us hardcore fans know, you really don't know the band until you see them live.

This is true with bands like Moe., Phish, Special Sauce, LCD Sound System, Flaming Lips, and a few others.  Half the "new age" fans became so by watching BIAB during the AI era.

Good shit. I agree.

Yeah, BIAB is one of the best concert films ever made. Also because it's shot on film. There are no digital camara's used. They should do that again...

Well if they aren't going to switch some of the songs like Brain Stew night to night, I guess there would be no point. Would be nice to have Armatage Shanks, a better version of Basket Case, the RevRad songs and Christie Road on DVD.

At the show yesterday in Cologne some people said that they've heard from some staff people that video and audio material from the show will be filmed. There were lots of mics directed to the audience and during Holiday, they obviously used a 360°-camera. Don't know if they do this at every show? But some people assumed that they were collecting material for a live DVD.

I mean hear Awesome as fuck. it was edited a lot. even the video had too many visual effects. we don't want that, just capture Hyde Park like the Rolling Stones and The Who did.

great camera angles, and sharp as f*ck. with great audio tracks, a DTS HD 5.1 track, and a good stereo track 9600, 24bit to listen with headphones, or with a good stereo amp.

And a Live CD of that, with a bonus disk with rare songs live.

bootlegs are sounding better than official Green Day releases, c'mon. nothing is 100% perfect, don't try to make it like that.

releasing every show as a download would be amazing. I would buy a box-set with every show in there. like Pearl jam and Metallica doing.

They even release it in 9600khz, 24bit.

I thought I herd somewhere that BST is shown on tv isn't it ?

I'd love to just get a deluxe version of RevRad that had live versions of new songs. Or simply release a digital EP that contain 5 or 6 live tracks from RevRad.

Unless the album would contain some rare songs or a lot of RevRad songs, they shouldn't bother. We've heard enough of Letterbomb, American Idiot, When I Come Around, and Basket Case. Oh, and Letterbomb. Did I mention Letterbomb?

Letterbomb is fucking amazing though to be fair, one song I won't get sick of. Basket Case and American Idiot are shite.

I saw them too. I don't know if those mics are a regular occurence. I posted the same question on reddit yesterday after the show and funnily enough, "our" Matt answered and said that they record audio for every show they do, including mic'ing the audience. But there were definitely cameras. There was a GoPro pointed towards Mike the whole time. There was a guy with a DSLR filming as well. So I think we'll see some footage, somehow.

To be honest, I'm skeptical, I don't think they'd collect video footage for a live DVD through a few GoPros and Dslrs, more likely, they'll use it for some kind of promotional YouTube or Tv Trailer, but of course I may be wrong...

I hope so. They seem to be enjoying this tour so much and the shows are so fun and full of energy, I'd love to see at least some of it professionally filmed.

Times have changed and nowadays you can record 4k with a GoPro and every new-ish DSLR. They recorded with a gimbal as well so it's not too amateurish.

True, it still doesn't match the quality of proper video cameras though and then there is the lack of camera angles, I mean: no cameramen walking around on stage, no camera on a crane, the list goes on...

They must have used similar equipment to film the previous tour trailer (at least the footage that wasn't taken from BIAB and AAF), so I think they'd more likely do that again.

I too would really like to have some professionally recorded audio/video, I love BIAB for example, but I'm afraid I'm not quite convinced that's what they're doing here...

You are absolutely right and my comment wasn't meant to sound like I'm disagreeing. Actually, it's simple: to produce a live DVD you've got to have everything that you mentioned but that means you can only do it once or twice. BIAB was shot in two days, for example. There is just so much logistics involved, you have to plan it beforehand.

From what we've heard now, I guess all the footage will be put in a jar, mixed and edited and we'll have a fun little montage. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't think so, BST is a definite contender for a live DVD, if it sells out its surely pushing green days biggest concert?

They should do a DVD for the final show in Cali. With lots of deep cuts and not mixed around and edited to shit. Leave fuck ups in the DVD and make it wicked!! Regular set plus 5 or so really awesome old tunes.

In this hypothetical album, it would be great to find a lot of Trilogy/RevRad songs and something from Kerplunk, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning. Please stop with Dookie or AI.

Posted

Dookie shit rules. Could leave out some AI, Christ, JOS is like the length of 3 or 4 Dookie songs. Jesus must be played but not all 7 tracks from AI need to be on the tour or a new DVD.

*cough* Live at the Cleveland house of blues for their rock n roll hall of fame induction show. Amazing show, legendary setlist. It would be a perfect live album

http://www.greendayauthority.com/tour/show/1495/ ALL of it. Even the sweet children part.

With the quality and edition of the last one, thanks but not.

I love BIAB but I would just a normal shot film without loads of special effects, just want to be able to fan girl over he band uninterrupted -  should probably be on fan girl thread!  :D

Still loads of songs they haven't put out on the live albums so far, apart from the new ones.

Just watched the Rolling Stones - Havana Moon movie. The best concert movie i have ever seen. Everything from pictures, the scenes, the sound, the light just everything is simply very good produced. I think eagle rock company produced that movie. Still dreaming about a concert movie from Green Day - Hyde Park , with behind the scenes, and some proper footage...

Admit it, how awesome wouldn't it be with a full concert movie from Hyde Park 1st July? With behind the scenes, footage before the concert, footage backstage, reherseals etc... If you watch Rolling Stones ' Havana moon, you know what i mean!

I definetely agree her!

They also recorded with cameras when they were in Paris.

Sadly,They used it to do their promo for the Download Festival 2017,so yes they are recording concerts, but i don't think it's to create a new DVD.

I hope there'll be one to see Still Breathing,Forever Now or Letterbomb live !! It's too awesome

Yes, that's what I said a while back. I assumed they would only use it for promotional videos due to the lack of proper full size cameras, camera cranes and just general camera angles and it turns out I was right.

However, could you leave a link to the promotional video for the Download Festival, I haven't seen that one yet.

I do know that they did a second trailer for the North America tour, now using only footage of the first leg of the RevRad tour:

And for New Zealand Leg:

The NZ promo is great.
