What are some bands similar to Green Day that you DON'T like?    Looking at their similar artists on Spotify, here are the ones I do not enjoy:  Oasis, Wheatus, Paramore, Blur, Hoobastank and Radiohead.

Blink 182 have been considering similar to GD if I'm correct ??? If so, I would add them to your list.

Although, I used to like Blur back in '90s but wouldn't have put them in same category as GD.

I have this strange reaction that every time I even see the name Oasis, I wanna throw up. 🤮

Well I was 15 when I first got into Green Day and since I made it my occupation to get all of their albums and my family could not keep up with which ones I already had and which I didn't, they all took to getting me "similar bands" albums for every birthday, Christmas or special occasion. I could just imagine them walking into a record store and asking the staff for their recommendation of bands a 15 year old girl into Green Day might enjoy. This resulted in my getting a lot of Blink 182, Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance, Good Charlotte, and other bands I cannot remember, and me hating them all because I just felt so patronized  I have since revisited a few of them and still don't like them (although I have really grown to appreciate MCR's Black Parade since my friend made me listen to it to get me to go with him to their show next year,  but I am still firmly not into the rest of their stuff). 

At that time instead I turned to discovery older punk and older rock on my own, and I did become a huge fan of those. But I do wonder if the situation had been reversed, and my auntie had given me a The Who album for Christmas when I was 15  instead of Good Charlotte, if I'd be a huge fan of Good Charlotte right now  

Anyways, very verbose answer, sorry.

I really like Radiohead, but I would not think they are at all similar to Green Day

Super random question, but in the song Give Me Novacaine's (American Idiot studio album version) chorus, what do you hear Billie sing? (without looking at the lyrics): "The sensation's overwhelming" or "This sensation's overwhelming"? Or do yo hear a different thing in each chorus?

I promise I didn't cheat. Just played the song through my headphones via moby, full blast as usual. As far as I could make out it's "This" in each chorus, not "The".

My moby is Sony with hi-fid' through hi-rez audio wireless  device, through Sony headphones.

Let me know if right or wrong.

Now you've got me going, having to stop everything and go listen to full AI album now. Heaven.

Thanks! "This" is indeed what the lyrics in the booklet says, so I will take your word for it! I go back and forth all the time between the two, so was curious what people actually hear.

You guys remember that terrible, horrible, no good MAX CREEPS thing that made us think it was a Green Day project but turned out to be some fart noises by a Guns N Roses guy and some rando.    I remember.

Someone who was a full adult at the time with a good memory, do you remember the day the band announced American Idiot? I know that the single came out on August 6th but what about the aesthetic (new logo cover ecc...) ? I'm curious cause it was the first time the band took such a change in their career.

no idea, but there's a good chance it would and wouldnt be. such a large majority of people my age despise the entire father of all album. i know i do, because i can't even listen to the songs unironically without throwing my headphones across the room due to my sensory issues... and i also get mad at stab you in the heart just because of it's recycled use of fuck time and whatnot. 

a lot of other people also say it just doesn't sound like green day. to me i'd agree mainly in terms of vocals mainly but i see why they say that. i can't hear what billie says in any part of the song despite not having as strong of an accent as he did in insomniac... seriously, i hear his words better in insomniac than in any foamf song. to be honest i've only met one person who likes any part of the album around my age.

in the end, there's probably a big group of people who still love it anyways. i wouldn't know.
