This may sound like a question that’s kind of obvious, but I wanted to ask anyway for curiosity sake.

What was it like to to look for news, pictures and clips of Green Day in mid 90’s, Prime MTV, Windows 95’, Dial-Up, etc., and how difficult or how much of hassle was it?

I had a life then so I didnt bother - dial-up was a disaster & I think we still read tour stuff in the newspaper & heard about it on the radio😊

Fair enough.  Honestly, I just started binging a bunch of LGR last night and just got curious.

Pre-internet music news, photos, etc was acquired via MTV news, radio and magazines and also fan club newsletters.

I got internet in 98 and after that it was pretty easy to catch up on green day news, I remember greenday.net was a good site and there was actually an aol message board that I used to go to a lot. There was a girl named Stephanie on there who was really mean to me 😂 I used to tape their videos off tv, some interviews too, and I'd look for them in magazines too, there used to be a magazine called Circus that used to print green day stuff. I was like 11/12 back then so it wasn't a hassle for me, it was fun

Long, long dry periods where you heard absolutely not a peep from your fav band and then lots of frustration that stuff was going on but you weren’t able to access it.

Over on setlist.fm, there is a weird thing.

When you type in Green Day the first one listed is a show in LA where they played Welcome to Paradise / Father of All and THE ONE I WANT!!!!!  But when you click on that concert is says it doesn't exist.

Did they recently play THE ONE I WANT?????

Oh wow I still remember taping GD appearances and random nonsense on my VCR. I actually found those tapes and they're just confusing. One minute it's Green day on TRL the next it's SpongeBob screaming.

This was me with boybands followed by MCR. I think my parents taped over them or threw out the tapes. They’ve disappeared from the family room at their house.

Green Day on TRL from 2000? I’m still looking for that interview

I haven’t been on this site in a while but I came on to ask... does the Oakland coffee playlist usually have songs with titles like the updated one? I know I shouldn’t be concerned though I just wanna know

Is it just me, or has the tempo of American Idiot slowed down in recent years? It seems like they used to play it live much faster.

No, it’s pretty fucked up for sure and there’s nothing wrong with being concerned but we can’t do too much speculating here about that except to hope he’s okay.

Thanks... I know that we’re not allowed to talk about this based on the other thread but I am truly worried about him

Have we ever known how Going to Pasalacqua got named after a funeral chapel? I know Billie said the song is about revenge (source), so I assume it's something to do with death and revenge. I'd be interested to hear more from the band though.

I've heard about the funeral chapel, but the revenge theme is new to me and I don't really get that meaning from the lyrics.

I never heard the revenge story, but the one I read about the song was that it was just named after the place because he used to go to see a girl that lived near there in Benicia, it may even have been her family’s business I’d have to double check that.

There's so many songs about different girls on the first two albums... he was in love with a half of the East Bay, at least

And only a small fraction of those gave him the time of day
