What are your favourite Green Day moments from 2016?

  • I might be in the minority, but I loved seeing Billie on Watch What Happens Live. Never in a million years did I think he would be on that show. It was as silly (and somewhat awkward) as I predicted it would be, but it was so fun!

  • I loved their lengthy interview with Howard Stern. I thought Howard was excited and he actually showed how passionate he was about the band, which I thought was cool. Their performances on the show was a plus!

  • Reading the album leak thread. It was fun reading everyone's initial responses to the album....and then eventually I caved in and listened to the leaked version. I don't think i've ever done that for any band, so needless to say, I couldn't resist.

  • I thought Green Day's performance on Jimmy Fallon was special because it was their first live performance for the new album if I remember correctly. I was bouncing on my bed and all smiles seeing one of my favorite bands finally playing on TV again! It was such a great feeling. Bang Bang was the perfect first single!

  • Lastly, i'd have to say the Still Breathing video was pretty epic. It's funny because I remember being one of the people here that wasn't happy with the song at all. In fact, I may have went on Youtue and left a comment bashing it. I really disliked the song, but I grew to love it over time. The video definitely stands out as one of my favorite Green Day moments of the year because it so perfectly captures the emotional meaning behind it.

Overall, it was so nice having the guys back on TV/radio promoting Rev Rad, and having new music from them!

Probably when Billie brought that kid on stage to play Longview and JAR and then he gave the kid the guitar. That definitely put a smile on my face.

Too many to list here, but I'll give it a go: the legendary One Week post on the 30th of July back in the closed Green in the Studio 2016 thread. The day after the name of the first single got leaked, soon followed by a (in hindsight correct) tracklist of Revolution Radio. It was magical because the poster hadn't commented on the forum since the release of American Idiot.

A worthy second place goes to the second Rolling Stone interview when Billie talked about his addiction and abuse in post-21CB. It sent shivers down my spine, but it was hands down the best and most candid interview of them I've ever read.

The last medal is to be awarded to the first time I listened to the leak. At first I couldn't believe this was the album. I was completely mesmerized and somewhat alienated. It wasn't what I had expected based on the description in RS. Yet Forever Now pulled me in on the second front-to-back listen and has been my fave post-21CB Green Day song ever since. I felt instantly connected to it. It managed to captivate all the emotions of 2016 in one epic track. That's when I fell in love with this record. I was fucking mindblown by 'If this is what you call the good life, I want a better way to die'.

First listen of bang bang and the album announcement. They kind of happened together anyway.

The performances of Bang Bang at the EMA's and AMA's.

Other than the shows that were announced for Dublin and Belfast and getting tickets for both.

-Earing that the name of the album was RevRad, writing it on my skin, posting it on Instagram and seeing the Green day magic begin with a comment from Mike

-Hearing Bang Bang for the first time on WMMR is where it was played for the first time, and crying (don't ask me why, I was so happy and proud)

-The Otis tour Facebook live, I was with my friends in the car going to the mountain and said to them "Sorry guys, I need to put the earphones on for a while" and laughing so much they whatched at me like ":ermm:  Wtf?! Oh ok, it's Green Day!" I saw a lot of shooting star that day :)

-First time listening to Somewhere Now (it was leaked but I stopped the play of the album 'cause I've always waited to have my cd through my hands)

-Listening to Say Goodbye and Outlaws after buying RevRad #teamwaiting

-Still Breathing

-Tour dates, and having one in Italy for my birthday

-The stress for the Italian tickets that have the fu**ing Early Entry thing, and got to get them :)

-Buying my first UK ticket show

-Carving a pumpkin for GDA ahah

-Their first live show for the promotion of the album, all those tiny shows and living them with the gdc family

-Twitter Q&A session this summer

-Everything ahah

Yeah, picking up the album on release day was a cool feeling as always. Don't think I have gotten one of their albums on release day since Warning. Only 12 bucks, so worth it.

I hated how Still Breathing sounded the first time I heard it too, especially the guitar tone in the verses. I thought I won't listen to that song ever again until I'll hear the live version because the instruments always sound great live. I skipped the song several times while listening to the album at first, but not many times - I wanted to give it a chance. I liked the lyrics and the chorus melody a lot, so I thought it would be a shame to hate it forever :D Then the video was released and slowly, I fell in love with that song besides the video, too.

I liked the sound and music but I thought the lyrics were clichéd. I still think they sort of are but I don't mind, it's so catchy...I love SB.

Agreed. During the first listening I thought the lyrics were a bit clichéd also, but I've got used to them really quickly and looked at them from a different angle - understanding that they really mean something to the author and just let it be. It helped a lot. Now I love Still Breathing the way it is and it's just awesome.

You said my thoughts exactly. The meaning behind the song really elevated it for me, and the video was the cherry on top for the perfect single!

Exactly, that's what I did. I just stopped analyzing it and took it for what it's worth.

Yes, I'm glad I let it grow on me :) The video is just so cool, I didn't even expect it to be so good because the videos they did during 2012 were quite meh, so I was surprised, honestly.

Hah, I know, but personally, sometimes it gets hard to do so, you know the prejudice is sometimes bitch for sure :D

1 - My first listening of Bang Bang. I was impressed, I didn't expect a powerful song like that.

2 - When the tickets for the tour were online. I almost spent all my money but I was so fucking happy.

3 - The Still Breathing music video. So deep, personal and emotional.

4 - Billie Joe's performance on Conan with Ordinary World, it's pure magic.

5 - Their live performance at the AMA's with the "No Trump, No KKK, No fascist USA" slogan. I was like "They're back, bitches. This is what Green Day means: revolution, rebellion and protest".
