Get some Pink Floyd, Genesis, Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel in your life. Add a generous layer of The Who and The Jam, then you've got a scrumptious musical gateau. Green Day are the cherry on the top.

MikeDirntConfused Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 Let me rephrase it to the greatest album GD has ever created.
DeJennsitized Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 I think part of the reason American Idiot was so popular is that everything about it screamed importance. The way it was marketed was just perfect; not just the artwork but the guys' outfits too. It was all unified and focused and I think that made people instinctively think that this was an important album to be heard. It was fucking genius. And boy, were they onto something with BOBD. Melodic, catchy, relatable, on trend with the whole emo vibe. There are some songs on the album that I can live without, but as a whole body of work, the thing is a masterpiece.

I don't quite get why you all have to talk @MikeDirntConfused out of his opinion that AI is - for him - the best album ever created. I mean, we're talking about personal taste here, aren't we? We're not music critics who compare the influence and importance of music legends. I know there were more important, more influential and even musically better albums than AI, but that doesn't mean I have to like all of them more than I like AI. What you call your own favourite album of all time has to do with the importance this album had for you personally, not for the world of rock'n'roll or the world in general. So if someone thinks "Ooops I did it again" by Britney Spears is the best album ever created, he can say that, it's totally fine, even if it's not true from an objective perspective. It's true for him, and that's all that counts. And with that being said.... 17 hours ago, MikeDirntConfused said: The best album ever created. Period. ... I agree with you. AI had so much influence on my life. Without it, I wouldn't be the person I am today. Thanks.

Green Day are the cherry on the top. Listened to The Wall many times, and tried not to fall asleep. I think Genesis was in Guitar Hero/Rock Band, and it didn't do much for me. GD's AI is the best.
Steven Seagull Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Do we really need another thread mods? 19 hours ago, St. Jonny said: To be honest now. What about Dookie? Without Dookie being so successful and absolutely amazing in EVERY way we would never have even gotten AI. I can't say AI is their best because it isn't better than Dookie, Nimrod or Warning in my opinion, but I certainly love it for exactly what it is and revolutionized the band and the music world in a way. At least someone knows his Green Day

Let me give you some advice that you're likely to ignore. If you don't like it, scroll past it and let the team decide whether it stays or not. You may not believe this, but they aren't just here to constantly tell you to behave yourself.

MikeDirntConfused Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 If you guys have such a problem with this thread, then stay out of it. The purpose of this is to appreciate AI.
nopride84 Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Nimrod or warning or insomniac are better than American idiot.
Haushinka! Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 There's no doubt it's an epic album and one of their best, but for me, it does have filler. I rarely listen to it in it's entirety.
bouncingoffthewallbja Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 The fact that they sacrificed literally everything that they had to make AI comes across when you listen to it. It's a stellar album - musically, lyrically, politically and it tells a story as well. Though I can't say it's my favourite Green Day record (because I find it incredibly hard to choose just one!), one thing is for sure - I definitely regard it as one of their best
Ian1234 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 It's one of my favorite albums, it's a fantastic album. But I wouldn't say it's the best album ever. There's a couple of songs on it that I don't really like. I would say albums like Abbey Road, Let It Bleed, and The Wall are better in my opinion.
PursuitOfEpicness Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 It's the album of my generation 5/5 stars. well 100/100

Platypus357 Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Homecoming is all I have to appreciate from this album. Other than that, I'll go back to Nimrod. 14 minutes ago, Steven Seagull said: And Dookie, Uno, Dos, Tre, Kerplunk are also better than AI. Christian's Inferno! Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 So this thread is just gonna be another thread of people arguing which is GD's best album?
Amanda Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Variety is the spice of life, and all that jazz. How boring would it be if we all had the same opinions.
