That is a really sweet story. It’s funny too how they give a shout out to Jakob and his band and it’s like Joey and SWMRS never existed.  They’ve been wiped from everyone’s memory 😂 But Jakob and Billie still have their praises sung so that’s a win.

10 Saddest Green Day Songs That Will Make You Cry

17 of the Best Musical Moments From a Decade of Global Citizen Festival

6. “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” — Green Day

Green Day’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong asked everyone to shine their lights “for justice” before leading the crowd in a sing-a-long to their early-aughts rock anthem at Global Citizen Festival 2017 in New York. “This ain’t no political party, man; this is a celebration,” Armstrong said.

I just realized this a few days ago and had the same reaction. Objectively, I think it's the best trilogy album but at the time I liked those rockin tunes from Dos just a bit more.

It was an exciting time to be a Green Day fan, no long wait for the album and we were getting 3 of them! They were coming off a huge tour and 21CB was still massive for them.

What happened with Billie Joe sucked and the production was somewhat of a letdown. It was over-compressed, it's a complaint I have with several albums recorded at that time. NOFX had an album around that time that also suffered from it.

It wasn't their most cohesive records but I had 37 songs from a band I loved and a ton of time to digest it. All the songs were ones that were for me and me only. Not really something I could say about Green Day before that with their massive success. There was also just a big change in direction, Mike's playing became more prominent in their sound again, they became more open to shifting away from big studios and taking on more of the recording and engineering duties on their own, they shifted to a more power pop sound etc

The trilogy and it's era was very mixed for me, as mixed as it's critical reception. Perhaps if it was just a reworked tracklist mostly based on Uno it would have been better received. The world just wasn't open to a rock trilogy at a time where it barely had an attention span to listen to 3 teasers on a SoundCloud account.

Deleted. I thought it was in bad taste and I regretted posting it

I still remember getting UNO at midnight because of my pre-order. I stayed up alllll night listening to it, trying to memorize every song.

I got Uno the day of it's release. Those couple of days after the album came out were really great days to be a fan.

It's a very standard Green Day album, nothing more but nothing less. It was a breath of fresh air after 2 rock operas with 5 years apart between them. It was good to have them back just 2 years after the big 2010 tour.

It was kinda weird to see Billie Joe back then. You knew something‘s wrong before he went to rehab. they cancelled a show in Italy in 2012 because he went to the hospital for one day.

And in Mönchengladbach during one song (I think Letterbomb) he just lay down for 2 minutes and screamed in his mic like something hurts 😕

look at 3:35 :(

ok, not really 2 min long. But he did it a few times during this show and you can see he seemed kinda….different

Not sure if I remember correctly but this might have been around the same time as the cancelled show so it’s possible he wasn’t feeling very well. (Which applies even if it wasn’t around the same time as the cancelled show anyway)

Yes, I think a week later and a month before he went to rebab. I think it shows how dangerous the situation was for him especially his pain

Not sure if anyone plays Heardle, but found a Green Day one!

I had a perfect record until they made a mistake the other day. It was clearly Maria, but it said Road to Acceptance. 😕
