Don't wanna be a downer but sadly I think Billie will be one of the next rock n' roll tragedy...

Not that he's going to die but I think he will be the reason for the end of Green Day soon.

I mean… I agree but I also think it’s not that bad. It seems unlikely that anyone on the band would walk out on him now and I don’t think he’d break up the band.    I’ve had my doomer phase in 2019 and see how that went so I don’t think it’s time to expect an end of the band anytime soon. (I do think they’re eventually going to retire, but I would guess there’s at least another decade until then.)

That said, it’s likely that the life he’s (been?) leading is going to catch up with him sooner or later and that might cause trouble for the band, but fingers crossed his luck doesn’t leave him. It seems he’s doing well so far.

green days management will be the end of green day tbh, or maybe old age! Nothing but speculation.

I think a big scandal from is past would have come out by now, and tbh isn’t “famous” enough for people to care to much, and he seems in a good enough place to do anything stupid.

We are a really optimistic bunch 🤣

But maybe it’s a good thing, go out with a bang. Don’t just keep putting stuff out for the sake of it. thing is green days side projects have been better than the main albums!

I think they’ll keep doing it until they no longer can, I just think for Billie that day may come sooner than we’d like. I don’t think they intend for 1972 to be their last album

Hella Mega showed how much fun they have playing on a big stage for their fans. I don‘t think that they would want to retire anytime soon.

The thing with Billie is that the kind of show he does is way more demanding that what most frontmen do. All the running, jumping, all of that with a guitar is definitely much more of a strain than if he was just walking around/dancing and singing. So being able to do this as long as possible will demand adapting the show accordingly.

Since he's famously said, nobody's leaving Green Day unless it's in a coffin (or something like that) I certainly hope that it's NOT sooner rather than later!  Is he partying harder than usual?  Is he not well?  Damn, now I'm worried.  😨

We went down a negative rabbit hole for a bit here, but what we know for a fact is that he's been well enough to play a fantastic show every night for the past month while I end up with a cough whenever I run up a flight of stairs a little too quickly :P

He’s certainly the healthiest 50 year old I know

Where does this come from?! Let me tell you, having just got in from Bellahouston they had a great time, clearly enjoyed every minute and created a bunch more fans.  If (and it’s quite a big if) Billie finds it is getting too much he can alter his performance. I would say he has anyway if you look at BIAB, it’s only natural, doesn’t mean they have to throw in the towel!

He’s not breakdancing anymore that was a thing he used to do. I remember he also used to do this thing I loved during Brain Stew in the chorus where he’d jump with his knees up really high like three times in a row. It was awesome but he hasn’t done that in years.  Must have been murder on his knees.

Last two exactly my point, he’s already adapting.

I bet he’d still play a hell of a show with two metal hips, but I think it’s telling that their label/Crush? (idk which?) is looking into virtual interfaces for concerts/metaverse. I think at some point that will be a way to make some $$ on shows when they can’t do normal shows anymore. Sort of like the prerecorded thing ABBA is doing these days.

I’ve noticed he’s running and jumping less and in a way that’s not a bad thing - I think his vocals are so good because he can focus on singing more/doesn’t get winded from all the running :P

I think @Beerjeezus has a point but I think some of it could be around transport costs.  I can see flights becoming a real luxury again in the not too distant future, think the days of £30 flights could be past.

My friend said this after the London show, and I was having none of it! Just think I'm in denial... Mind you, then again I think I'm in denial about ageing myself!😜🤭 Still I'm not too worried, since they still played a kick arse show.

Quite surprised to hear about the ABBA style show thing though!

the Foo Fighters VR concert after the Super Bowl was fun.

If I could see that one at Green Day it would be great😊
