JardyOfSuburbia Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 John Lydon takes another jab at Green Day in Rolling Stone interview. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/john-lydon-and-his-rotten-past-20150429?page=7 "Do you like Green Day? No, I've never been a fan of them, I just don't understand it. I think it's kind of a tinny, two-bob version of something that was far deeper and carried more significance. And, uh, that for me, as a band, they're not very significant. They're a mélange. They're closer to Billy Idol than myself. This year they entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Did they?! Oh, no doubt they took that [laughs]. Itchy fingers [laughs]. I don't keep up with those kinds of things, so I wouldn't know.

They build a table out of a surfboard and turn the airstream into a 'Zen, rock'n'roll surf shack' for Billie Joe. Chin for a Day Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 That's not a jab though, is it? And I've always liked Billy Idol for that one song. Put it in context, that is coming from a man who is hocking his autobiography and sells butter. 2
Give_Me_Novacaine90 Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 All Time Low sound will lead the band to the next stage of its career. He points to acts like Green Day and Fall Out Boy — groups who took a raw sound and reconfigured it over time for the masses — as models to follow. http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/music/midnight-sun-blog/bs-ae-all-time-low-20150429-story.html#page=1

desertrose Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 14 Websites You Surfed In The Early 2000s (And What They Looked Like) 14. GreenDay.com In 1997, Green Day digitized their Bay Area punk vibes into a dark black webpage that featured guitar tabs (because who didn’t want to learn how to play “Time Of Your Life”?), quotes, and their “Idiot Club,” which is now known as their fan club, Idiot Nation. This screenshot from March 27, 1997, takes us right back to that time. http://www.mtv.com/news/2134267/14-websites-you-surfed-in-the-early-2000s/

Give_Me_Novacaine90 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 There are two kinds of rock operas — there’s the Who’s Tommy or Pink Floyd’s The Wall, which have relatively easy-to-follow narratives, and there’s Hüsker Dü’s Zen Arcade or Green Day’s American Idiot, where the songs are thematically linked but the story is less clear. http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/titanic-titus-andronicus-patrick-stickles-on-why-his-band-made-a-93-minute-29-track-rock-opera-about-manic-depression/ 1
