I can see it now but I still don't get how it's going to work  Unless it is like Reddit and the replies will be typed.

Hi. Having remained top of your game and outstayed a vast number of bands, if you could make one change within the music industry what would it be and why?

M: Remove the industry.
T: Probably teach music in schools again. Give kids free instruments when they're young, and encourage them to play them. And everyone should be allowed to have their own pirate radio station.

In light of the current worldwide political omnishambles; which is the best flavour of Lunchable and/or Oreo? Also, Oakland Coffee available in the UK soon? I need more coffee.

T: Pizza lunchable! And Oreo: plain, regular, old school.

If there was one song that would go down in history as the best song ever written what song would that be?

Billie: I Get Around by the Beach Boys. It's sort of perfect. It has three different choruses.
Tre: Life on Mars by David Bowie. Pretty much every note.
Mike: Blitzkreig Bop - keep it simple. It's fucking perfection, in the right way.

What personal advice would you give to someone wanting to start a band like yours?

T: Get your own fucking style!

Should I get a small Green Day tattoo? From your biggest fan in Ireland …

Billie: No. You should get a large Green Day tattoo.
Mike: Over your face.
T: I saw a nice one today - a guy asked me to sign his arm. It said Rage and Love, and it had the 21st Century Breakdown, and he said he was going to tattoo my name on him. I signed it: Hit Me.

This is a question for Mike Dirnt. I read in a Rolling Stone article that you took bass lessons to prepare for recording Revolution Radio. The article said that you learned jazz songs such as Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder. How did you incorporate the jazz approach to playing on the new album? Were you mainly learning jazz to improve your technique or work on constructing your basslines? You’re my favourite bassist! Love your bass tone on Outlaws!

M: I just copied and pasted it, onto Billie's song. If you listen to Bang Bang, it's the exact same bassline. Note for note.

Do you ever find it hard to be creative when you are going through difficult times and if so what are your ways of overcoming this? I am currently coming out the other side of post-natal depression and have found that the creative part of me seems to have been switched off.

Billie: Most comedians say it's hard to laugh when you're scared. And I feel the same way sometimes. But I get right back up on that horse, and keep riding into that sunset called the human experience.

Craziest thing a fan has done to impress us? Jumped off a 20-foot-high balcony'

Torsten Kawumska asks:

What is the craziest thing a fan has ever done to impress you guys?

M: At a show in San Francisco, a fan jumped off a 20 foot tall balcony and crowdsurfed to the stage. It was fucking amazing.
B: It was!
M: The crowd caught him, it was crazy. A friend who was a stuntman said he couldn't do it better himself. And then played the song Knowledge on stage with us, on guitar.

I recently watched a documentary about Pansy Division and was really impressed by your support and promotion of a queercore band on that 1994 tour. Twenty two years on, do you think homophobia is still an issue in punk/rock or the music world in general? How do you think LGBT rights [in the US] will fare under the Trump administration?

Billie: We accept anyone who feels marginalised at any Green Day event. Period. Especially if you're gay or trans, black, white, brown, or of any nationality. Period. Green Day is a safe place for you to be. I think it's a problem that we have to face every day, and we have to do whatever we can to fix it.
