I have no problem with this song. Restless Heart Syndrome - I know, it's a slower song again--I just love how accurately the song captures the ambience of the lyrical meaning. I thought most people liked these songs though. I mean I've seen a lot of hate for 21CB (Heck I used to hate it! I like it now) but I'm just surprised by the first two I listed.
Steven Seagull Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 All fake GD fans hate the Trilogy. They are missing so many great songs.
Clean Cut Asshole Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I don't really like Nightlife, but that's just because I don't think it's that good. It has nothing to do with it being a rap song. I like some rap, just not this rap song. With that being said though, I agree with Tom, Billie is the worst part of the song. Lady Cobra's part actually isn't as bad as Billie's. And while we're on the subject, I still don't like the trilogy, but hating on it all the time is just old now. There's nothing anyone can add to that argument. It's all been said before. Now, back on topic, I agree with all the people saying Christian's Inferno. I never got the hate for that song. It's actually one of my favorites off 21CB. Also, Warning. It's actually a good song, but I think maybe the reason people don't like it is because it wasn't that good of a single choice (at least in my opinion). Take Back, Last Ride In and Platypus too. Those are great songs.

And nightlife and troublemaker are pretty awful too not gonna lie Yea nightlife is shitty. But i like sweet 16. No matter how hard i try i can never get into the songs Amanda or Warning. I honestly don't like the album Warning as a whole.
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Sorry, but Green Day can't be hated enough. *goes back to switching between unpopular opinions and the trilogy thread

SuperXCsabre495 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Kill the DJ seems to be up there for some people here, it's honestly my favorite song off of the trilogy. I've played the song a few times to my friends when it came out they actually liked it, they were surprised it was Green Day but they thought it was pretty good. But in my opinion I'd say Nightlife. I get the hate for Nightlife but it isn't THAT bad of a song.

I don't care too much for HAR live anymore, but I think King For A Day is still a fun one to see. For me, I'd actually really enjoy seeing Hitchin' a Ride at a show! The solo would be so awesome! And I totally agree with you - I still think KFAD (even though it's been played quite a bit over the years) is as entertaining as ever! And, we can't forget the performance of HAR from Bullet in a Bible either!! 2 hours ago, SuperXCsabre495 said: Kill the DJ seems to be up there for some people here, it's honestly my favorite song off of the trilogy. I agree with you that Kill the DJ is over-hated. It's also one of my favourites (if not my favourite) from the trilogy! It was definitely a step in a different direction for GD musically, but imo, it was one that paid off and worked really well!
Slash Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Nightlife. I like the song, but I hate it too, like it is good, but it can be pretty annoying too. That autotune gives me a headache.

I will never get the hate for the live performance. It's always one of the highlights for me and my friend who always goes to GD shows with me. And we both would be really pissed if they took it off the setlist. I don't have the feeling that this performance is always the same. Maybe it's the same process but it still feels different every time and I'm enjoying it a lot. I just love to see them crazy because it is so THEM. Same with Hitchin, which is one of my all-time-favourites. Nightlife doesn't deserve the hate it gets either, as I wrote several times before somewhere, I think the lyrics are 100% metaphorical and very interesting if you don't take them literally. I don't like the idea of just Billie sining, it wouldn't have the spooky character and the struggle between temptation (Lady Cobra) and your conscience (Billie), I think that's what the song is really about.

Yeah I think they actually vary KFAD more than most of their songs when they perform it. Agree about Hitchin a Ride too, never know what Billie's going to do in the middle of it and always entertaining And totally! I think that's a major theme of the album, the temptations of the "rock n roll" lifestyle and what the good and bad consequences of giving into them might be. The point of the song is the interaction between the two of them so definitely need both. Also I like Billie's vocals on it anyway, I remember someone saying they're zombie-like and I like that description.
Shtrudel Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams and 21 Guns are what 'truly' define Green Day as "fuckin sellouts what's this shit this ain't punk!". They're mainly hated by Green Day haters though.
Dakke Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Strangeland. It's not a standout track on Kerplunk, but it isn't as monotonous as Last Ride In.
End Of The World Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Don't know if it was said before, but KYE is always hated because of its repetitive chorus and its simple lyrics. In my opinion it should not be seen as a "40 top hit" but as a powerful GD song where the bass is extreme.

I like Know Your Enemy better in 21CB as a whole, but as a standalone song it kind of falls flat. Then again, I like it instrumentally and it's lyrically better than some of the nonsensical tracks on the Trilogy.
X-Kid_88 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 21 guns always appears on these lists online of over rated rock songs or some nonsense like that. It's a beautifully written song in my opinion. Exactly what it has to be for its position in the album too. And seeing it played live only makes me feel all of the aforementioned even more
Siddharth_471 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Rest is cool probably their first ballad and I really like it. Know Your Enemy is a great song and I never understood the criticisms towards it and neither has anyone able to give me proper reasons why it isn't good. Same with 99 Revolutions. I don't know if they are Billie's best lyrics but definitely a good song and one of a stand-out from Trilogy. Revolution Radio(title track) is one of my favourite from RevRad but doesn't get much praise.
RougeRogue Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 I think I see a recurring theme here where what's most "hated" on here, tends to be what's most popular/repeated/over played. Sometimes in mainstream media (ie the singles KYE, etc) If KFAD is hated for its live show presence, then only because it's always there. Although I guess Nightlife is the exception here, but I understand the dislike for it being too different. I agree with that. For me, it came very late in an album I was already not enjoying and it probably won't shake that reputation in my mind.

Strangeland is my least favourite Green Day song. It's completely pointless. I skip it all the time In fact the whole Sweet Children EP is probably the worst part of GD's discography imo. Sweet Children is ok, My Generation is ok, Best Thing in Town is meh and Strangeland is just noise
platypus136 Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Hey, Platypus is a great song !! I don´t like Rusty James and Troublemaker that much

The energy of the song is captured fantastically with thousands of GD fans singing along as well!

I feel like I'm being invaded with opinions that Nightlife is good when I say that it's a bad song and is painful to listen to (and that's my opinion). Trust me, it's one of very few Green Day songs I find bad, and Hearts of War did his cover better (and it's corny because he included the Lady Cobra verses, which were meant to be sung by, well, Lady Cobra [or another female in his case]). Also, if anybody thinks I'm close-minded, then think again, my post on this topic will prove to you guys need that I'm not. Hell, I even enjoy Shenanigans and Demolicious, which is brought up even less in discussion than the 2012 trilogy.

But I agree that quite a few people aren't too fond of the song. On the Top Tens Best GD Songs, TWH is in or around the 200 mark, which I think is ridiculous!!
St. Jonny Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Love the lyrics on Tight Wad Hill, how can anyone hate that shit?
