ooooh, I got one!

She's a Rebel

ooooh, I got two!

Young Blood.

People aren't satisfied when Billie sings about being satisfied.

Baby girl coco dancing the cooch
One hand on my knee one hand on the hooch

Actually, now that I think about it, I've actually heard that a lot of people skip She's a Rebel and Extraordinary Girl when listening to AI. I think that they're great songs that really add to the plot of American Idiot!

And I really enjoy Youngblood, it's just so powerful and energetic!

Kill the DJ used to annoy me when it first came out, but honestly that song sounds the most "Green Day" of all the Trilogy songs and represents a good direction sonically for the band.  I remember playing this song in the car with my friends and they thought it was the funniest/funkiest thing.

She's a Rebel was the one happy moment for Jimmy and Whatshername before he started feeling like dying and she got so sick of crying.  Before she sent her love a letterbomb, before it all went to hell.

I nearly forgot about KFAD! On the ideal show/playlist thread, so many people have cut it from their ideal GD show. It's not one of the best GD songs, but it's definitely one of the most entertaining!

I couldn't agree more but many people don't agree that it's entertaining! I was shocked to learn this and will forever find it baffling.

I totally forgot about Christian's inferno! I love it and a lot of people seem to hate it.

Yeah just realised from trying to write the reason that I really don't get why. I can't recall any specific reasons other than it sounding a bit like The Network (which I don't see as a bad thing) or the verses and chorus not fitting well. Like are those really the reasons for it to be one of the most despised of all time?

Exactly, and it's sort of like the calm before the storm in the sense that it's Jimmy's/Jesus's happy memories before the plot twists and the relationship is basically crushed.

I'll always love watching live videos of KFAD with Billie Joe wearing a pair of underwear parading around the stage like he owns it!!

I don't think people hate the song so much as feel it needs to be removed from the live shows, and that the whole dressing up, etc. etc has just been done to death.

Personally, while I do get tired of seeing it appear in every set they've done for the past 20 years, I think for the majority of the crowd it's a cool experience.  Most people don't see the same band play over and over and over again, so it's not really an issue as far as the big picture goes.   We're never going to get our "Ideal set list" (With additions like "Saints are Coming and Shenanigans tracks)  but Green Day really do kill it live just about all the time.   Sure, when you're on here and seeing the same old songs getting played every night it seems "boring".   But when you AT THE SHOWS, it's enjoyable.

Tbh I think there's quite a few songs off 21CBD that are criminally underated and over-hated. Christian's Inferno is one of them along with the likes of Last Night on Earth, Last of the American Girls and Restless Heart Syndrome, probably because they're slightly slower and a step in a different direction for GD. Nevertheless, I really enjoy them!

I hate so much there is no S!  (the songs alright though)

Exactly, it reminds me of early 90s GD - 3 friends having some fun in the studio and creating an awesome song!

  • I agree with a lot of that. I love all the songs mentioned though, pretty big fan of everything they have done for the most part. I would have to choose songs that I feel other people hate. Wake Me Up When September Ends, because most who are not GD fans don't know what it is about. Radio overplay's the shit out of Boulevard and Holiday and Basket Case but they gotta be there live and really are amazing songs. Kill The DJ and Nightlife are both fucking awesome btw.

Tbh when I was changing my username (it used to be amxricanidiot), I could not for the life of me remember if it was 'wall' or 'walls'. So off I went onto iTunes to check what it was (in hindsight, I probably should have checked the back of my physical Rev Rad CD but hey-ooooo!) I can't figure out how to upload the picture, but it said 'wall' and not 'walls'!

Update: I checked my copy of Rev Rad and it says 'wall' not 'walls'!

If we're talking about live, people really seem to be over Hitchin' A Ride and King For A Day. I don't care too much for HAR live anymore, but I think King For A Day is still a fun one to see.

King For A Day isn't great on the record. It's also pretty jarring how it comes straight after Take Back. Live, though, it's fabulous.

I've got a list for you guys. :)

  • Rest - It's just a slower Green Day song--I don't have an issue with this song.
  • No One Knows - Same reason as Rest
  • Strangeland - I enjoy this song--why do others hate it?
  • Tightwad Hill - I've heard people hate on this song, which makes no sense. It's my favorite from Insomniac along with Armatage Shanks & Brain Stew/Jaded
  • Last Ride In - Best instrumental song ever.
  • Warning - One of the catchiest Green Day songs and the titular song to my favorite album. I have no problem with this song.
  • Misery - It's like a mini-rock opera where Billie tells short stories about people around the world who've had miserable experiences. I love the variety of instrumentals based on the area--it reminds me of background music changing in a video game based on where you are at.
  • Restless Heart Syndrome - I know, it's a slower song again--I just love how accurately the song captures the ambience of the lyrical meaning.

Some of you may wonder why Nightlife is not on the list--it hurts my head to listen to this song; it deserves the hate. I do agree when people say that the bassline is good but that's it--and that I get to make jokes about that song. Nightlife is also lyrically disturbing, which at least the song got right, but boy, it hurts to listen to that song. Besides, the dominatrix theme has been done in Dominated Love Slave & Blood, Sex & Booze before--and those are at least nice to listen to.

Don't forget that I said this is my opinion & not a fact. If you like Nightlife, I'm totally fine with it. The only songs on Dos I enjoy are Fuck Time, Stray Heart, Stop When The Red Lights Flash, and Lazy Bones. I don't even care for the lyrics of Fuck Time & Stray Heart--just the perfect instruments.

Oh yeah, people also hate on the other two albums in the trilogy but I like a good chunk of songs from Uno & Tre. I don't like Kill the DJ and Oh Love--those were bad choices for singles. Nuclear Family & Carpe Diem are my favorites from that album--I also only like Let Yourself Go, Stay the Night, and Angel Blue for the lyrics (but Billie's voice sounds odd in Angel Blue--the Demolicious version is better). Tre is the best album in the trilogy--I think there's only like 2 or 3 songs in that album I don't care for: I like 99 Revolutions, X-Kid, and Dirty Rotten Bastards the most.

I think people don't like rest because it just doesn't fit on 39/smooth. I feel like it would have fit better on kerplunk.

The most 'over-hated' song that deserves a bucket load of poop is all of Trilogy... except for about 30 or so songs.  A few (meaning 3 or 4) in the Trilogy were good. Edit, Major Edit Edit - the three or four songs on the Trilogy are the most 'over-hated' by me.  The other 30 just suck.  The  title for this thread is my most hated.  'Songs You Love by GD That Were Under Appreciated' would be better.

People are always hating on last ride in. I don't get it. It's a wonderful instrumental song. Got a surf rock feel to it.

I love it simply because the first time hubby heard it he said "a GD instrumental - I bet there were words but BJ was too stoned to remember them."

Gold imo.

I don't know if hate is the right word, but I do know that Strangeland, Best Thing In Town, and Sweet Children don't get a lot of love. Best Thing In Town specifically is one of my all time favorite tracks. I really love at the end when Billie mumbles "i'm sick and tired of all this...shit!"

Nightlife. Sorry, but it's fucking awesome

Also Kill The DJ. It's repetitive, but the lyrics in the verses are fantastic.

Im so glad you are back.:)

Most fans of this band are too close-minded. I'm always impressed how sonically different this guys can be. I'd challenge any other band to do that!

Who the F thinks Nightlife is good - Kerplunk to Nightlife?  Small acorn penis Billie Joe definitely needed rehab.  Off topic but so are the U.S.  Presidential candidates so I deserve a pass.

*High five* I was just about to name both of those songs in this thread.
