it lead to a fantastic discussion on RevRad lyrics that went south by a very vocal minority. I don't know why I'm so frustrated tonight reading some of these comments and I don't want to shit on people's opinions but if an opinion is so strong that you're trying to change other people's, it should at least be a more informed opinion. I just can't get the concept of wanting to convince someone that they are wrong about something they enjoy. It's a kin to wanting to rob joy from someone for no reason.

Wow. I'm disappointed. I thought we were having an interesting and substantial discussion! How did the "vocal minority" cause the thread to turn south? Because we disagreed with you? It was practically a Rev Rad love fest a few pages back. So if the criticisms of a few really frustrated you so much, that shows me you can't handle differing opinions. It seems like you've even taken it personally. You made the comparison, "It's a kin to wanting to rob joy from someone for no reason". Dude, if us voicing our dislike for the album or certain lyrics is robbing you (or anyone) of joy, i'm really sorry.

You and a few others continue to accuse the critics, including me, of trying to "convince someone that they are wrong about something they enjoy". Since when did expressing our opinions mean that we're trying to change yours? When did I ever say that you're wrong and i'm right? The words: "I disagree" doesn't mean "You're wrong".

Also, I find it ironic that someone would keep using the same adjective in 20 forms "cringy", or "cringe worthy" over and over to lambast someone else's writing. it's okay to like or not like whatever you want but I would never personally go around shutting on the lyrics and "production" of a masterpiece album. Also, as evidenced by the crowds, shows, sales and responses, most Green Day fans (I said most) don't really agree with you. But when I listen to the album, I anticipate the show, not what he meant about the celo line which may possibly be a bad lyric or possibly means something that you can't break down. I mean do you consider that as a possibility?

WTF?!? So you don't like the mix, or the lyrics but you love the song? What are we talking about here?

I've made it clear in this thread that I've only been speaking about lyrics. Not the meanings, not the instrumentals, and not the "mix". For me, liking a track comes down to the impact it leaves and the feeling it gives, not solely the lyrics, although they do play a role. This is the reason why i'm still able to love Too Dumb to Die. You don't need to belittle me and try to school me on "story vehicles" and shit.

We were nothing but respectful until you basically shat on us for our opinions -- and yes, we may have used cringeworthy too much -- boo hoo! You may not express your dislike for something, but please don't be surprised when others do. That's what the forum is for. We are speaking out in disappointment because we aren't as pleased as we once were. It's not like we take joy in it. I think it's sad that we frustrated you so much, especially since we are in the minority. Like you said, "most Green Day fans don't agree with you".

Oh well. Enjoy your vacation.

Good God already. Drama city in this thread. I already apologized for this rediculousness.

To be honest, little stabs like calling it my "essay" and misquotes of what I said is what I meant when I said the discussion went sour.

Either way, it reached a natural conclusion about 3 pages and 2 days ago.

Im extremely sorry for touching on your delicate sensibilities.

Can we move forward now please? So sorry for dissapointing you.

Wait...that's why the thread went sour? :lol::lol:

Tell me if i'm wrong, but the only thing you told me I misquoted was "weak lyrically" instead of  "a bit weak lyrically". Either way, it wouldn't have changed my point.

& calling your post an essay wasn't meant to be a jab at all. It was meant to acknowledge how in-depth you were in your response. Plus, it was pretty damn long. I also said I appreciated the time you took to make that post and that I admired the passion you clearly showed, which you thanked me for.

Whatever, dude. Sorry I spoiled the thread, guys! :P

I think it's safe to say that this thread has "reached a natural conclusion".
