The quality of the songs are on par, however 21CB is almost double the length of RevRad and wins because of that reason. If they were the same length while still maintaining song quality, it would be very hard for me to choose.

It's impossible to decide. I think everything has already been said. I just wanted to add that I have never been happier about a new GD record than I am right now with RevRad. During AI and 21CB era, GD was so famous, influential and strong that I never even thought about the possibility that the pressure could become too high at some point. They were just there, they were perfect, and it seemed that nothing could ever happen to shake this band.

Now we know a lot more about that time and how things started to get out of control in the following years, and somehow this knowledge changed the way I feel about 21CB. It's not that I like the songs less, it's more that I kind of feel the pressure they had to live up to all the high expectations after AI. I feel completely different about RevRad, it seems so unforced and happy at some points, but yet very reflective and important. I love how they didn't care about living up to any expectations while making this record, and yeah, some reviewers and fans might be disappointed, but that's okay.

I think the last couple of years showed us that it' not a given that GD is around, that they are vulnerable and that everything could have fallen apart. We could have lost them. But we didn't. And I think that all those mixed feelings are part of RevRad, that's why it feels very special to me. I think it will settle down in my top 3 along with AI and 21CB, but the order will keep changing.

I liked your post. But I'd also like to add an "amen". Very well put.

Yeah, overall I just prefer the content because there is more of it, however RevRad is still one of my highest rated albums at this point so don't go thinking I like it any less, if there was more of it, it would probably take the cake.

Also, I was thinking it would be cool if at some point GD just released an EP with a single song that goes for about 30 minutes. Surely they would have thought of doing this at some point. I'd absolutely love it :P

21CB breakdowns best songs are probably better than Revrav, but as a whole it is inconsistent, due to having so many songs which include duds.

21st has like 2 decent songs. I mean RevRad is shitty too but at least it has 6 good songs.

lol yeah that's why it got grammy for best rock album.

I'm in the minority that think 21st Century Breakdown is better than AI (don't shoot me). It was just like they went "Okay we made AI, let's make an album 10x bigger and 10x better". Their most epic album, will never be topped in terms of how huge it is.

This is hard cause they're so alike to me :ermm:

Tough one.. they're both not the best GD albums. I voted RevRad because 21cbd had KYE and 21 Guns.. possibly their worst songs ever

Loved 21CB.  RevRad is good too.  Not sure why 21CB is being so ignored on the latest set lists out side of Know Your Enemy (definitely not the best song on the album).  Loved all the shows opening with 21CB.  East Jesus Nowhere is good.  Viva la Gloria is a great song.  21 Guns!  Loved hearing all those in concert in 2009/2010.  Agree that 21CB probably had a bit too many songs, but I liked the majority.  I like most of RevRad...dont like the way many of the songs get quiet and loud...tough to set the right volume in the car.  Should have gotten a producer to talk them into compressing it better.

Nah I finally acknowledged this recently.  But dookie is still my sentimental favourite.

Well I would go with 21st CB

21st century breakdown. I also loved that tour, so many great memories. Maybe I'll change my mind after hearing the songs from the new album live, who knows. :)

AAF was indeed very awesome. I agree that RevRad will be more appreciated if it's played live for the most part (Somewhere Now, Say Goodbye, Forever Now).

Has anyone else sensed a connection to Christian and Gloria in Revrad?   The characters in the lyric video for Revolution Radio resembled them.  I also wondered if two of the bank robbers in the Bang Bang video were supposed to be Christian and Gloria.   And I cannot listen to Outlaws without thinking of it being about Christian and Gloria looking back on their past.

It is possible to see RevRad as something of a 21CB sequel, I think. Although I like that RevRad isn't JOS, or Jimmy, or Christian or Gloria; it's just Billie.

Could never pick between GD albums, I love all their albums through and through. In the end they are both great but I would say 21stCB has a lot more variety and thought that seemed to go into it. RevRad is a lot quicker and to the point, don't feel as if these two should even be compared. It would be easier to compare RevRad to the trilogy but the product is always something special when it comes to this band.

I voted for Revolution Radio in advance. 21st Century Breakdown is my lifetime album, but Revolution Radio has the potential to top it in reasonable amount of time. Four years. Maybe three. I get the impression that at the moment we are not able to understand how great Revolution Radio is. We will see. But it's great that we can choose, right? ;)
