I don't think anything could top 21CB for me. It was the first album I experienced in real time, and the first tour I saw them live, and I was just in a really good place during that album and I think all the songs are fantastic.

Blasphemy. 21st Century Breakdown, Before The Lobotomy, Last Night On Earth, East Jesus Nowhere, Murder City, Restless Heart Syndrome, The Static Age, 21 Guns and American Eulogy are all terrific.

No point replying tbh, he's just trolling (again) :tired:

Man, I felt like 21st Century was the last album that GD really tried. The amount of effort into creating a rock opera, having differing song structures and sounds, and trying to prove something to the world. The trilogy and RevRad just seem like having fun, simple tracks. IMO it seems backwards. I'm not saying these albums suck, but after AI and 21 it just seems off.

Compared to Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac... Yeah it's a soft album.

This thread is for comparing Rev Rad and 21st CB. It's not for just making random statements about which albums you like and dislike. If you don't want to compare those two albums you don't need to keep posting here.

I feel as though Rev Rad is a sequel to 21st CB. As far as the better album I'm biased right now because Rev Rad is new. But I'm going to go with it anyway because I think it is overall better.

Lyrically and production quality wise, 21st CB blows Rev Rad out of the water.

I will never understand the hate 21St Century Breakdown gets. It's amazing. It's not perfect but it and American Idiot were giants and I still feel it deserves to be taken as seriously as American Idiot is.

As much as I love RevRad, Breakdown is the most wildly ambitious thing Green Day have ever done, and on an artistic level it's their best. They really took things to the next level with that record, no punk band ever had the right to sound that huge. Still Breathing is a better song than anything on Breakdown, and Forever Now would fit onto that album, but on the whole it's no contest. The only thing better about RevRad is the bass. The lyrics, vocals, arrangements and production are all better on Breakdown. That's not to take anything away from RevRad though, it's a solid album, just different.

Yes, the only thing I don't really like in RevRad is production. I find annoying all the faded vocals, like in Outlaws. It could have been a perfect song...

It's impossible to decide. I think everything has already been said. I just wanted to add that I have never been happier about a new GD record than I am right now with RevRad. During AI and 21CB era, GD was so famous, influential and strong that I never even thought about the possibility that the pressure could become too high at some point. They were just there, they were perfect, and it seemed that nothing could ever happen to shake this band.

Now we know a lot more about that time and how things started to get out of control in the following years, and somehow this knowledge changed the way I feel about 21CB. It's not that I like the songs less, it's more that I kind of feel the pressure they had to live up to all the high expectations after AI. I feel completely different about RevRad, it seems so unforced and happy at some points, but yet very reflective and important. I love how they didn't care about living up to any expectations while making this record, and yeah, some reviewers and fans might be disappointed, but that's okay.

I think the last couple of years showed us that it' not a given that GD is around, that they are vulnerable and that everything could have fallen apart. We could have lost them. But we didn't. And I think that all those mixed feelings are part of RevRad, that's why it feels very special to me. I think it will settle down in my top 3 along with AI and 21CB, but the order will keep changing.

21st has like 2 decent songs. I mean RevRad is shitty too but at least it has 6 good songs.

Says a person who likes Katy Perry I suppose... Alright then

No song on RR and the trilogy is even close to the top 5 from 21st CB or AI.

You're saying that as beating 21st CB and AI is some kind of a big challenge.

Totally agree with this statement. The only song on 21CB, that lets it down is Last Night On Earth - I just find it boring for a Green Day song, it's a nice song, he sings it well, but it's just boring.  That's where the difference on RevRad is - there's definately no boring songs on it (well maybe Ordinary World, just a wee bit though).

I love Last Night On Earth hahaha but I understand you point!! I agree Ordinary World is little boring...

It is but hopefully they can do something as good as Warning.

Beating 21st CB and AI feels unrealistic at the moment.

I mean Green Day lost their touch that they had with the Trilogy but beating 21st CB and AI is not that hard.

Just shut the fuck up. Why are you even on this thread if you don't like RevRad or 21st CB?

Breakdown is the strongest effort they ever done. I'm not too fond with the overall sound of the record, but listening live is another story. After that you can say is their top, and probably they won't make something like that again.

You are bordering on absurd now

Close, but I went with 21CB. If Revolution Radio had better lyrics, I'd probably pick it instead.
