Yes, he is. I don't think he was mad. I think people at the show made him uncomfortable because he didn't expect this kind of reaction. He was like "wtf do I do now"

Put the microphone up to us for a while and then keep playing? Say something about him? He could have done so many things. If he hadn't talked about Trump and politics earlier on I'd say, OK, but he had encouraged people to speak about Trump himself...

Or maybe he is secretly in love with Trump.

That's not even a funny thought.  Take it back.  NOW.

Yeah, I think he wants to emphasize that Trump is a terrible person and that people need to go vote, but he is also a lot more conscious of generally spreading more posivity these days.

Yeah it might've been that it was a "hate chant" in general that made him feel uncomfortable, regardless of whether he agreed with what was being chanted.

I think there are a couple of points here.

it's not his movie yet he has to,promote it so it's not really a surprise that he has toned down his comments a bit, especially with an interviewer as badly prepared as this, if he'd behaved as he has at some previous interviews she wouldn't have coped with him, and he would have alienated a load of her viewers.  Also, he is 44 now and sober.  I think re the crowd chanting, we all know how amazing Billie is with a crowd but it's quite a fine line he treads at times and he needs to keep control or he will have a riot on his hands which is not something anyone would want, and while the band are happy to be known as anti trump they don't want that to become the main focus.   I, as a Brit, always think TV in the US is really pretty conservative and I wondered how much damage the iHeart incident would have on the bands bookability, could have made stations reluctant to go near them.

He has definitely matured, I think (if he hadn't at this point after going through some major life changes, I'd be concerned). That mixed with doing a solo interview when you're used to group interviews and feeling like a socially awkward person in general leaves one to be a little more soft spoken, especially if it's a televised interview. He really hasn't been acting different, just appropriate for the setting. His sobriety has given us the gift of dorky, sweet Billie 24/7, which is pretty awesome.

And he has still been talking politics even if not delving deep in the way he can for print, so I don't even get this conversation haha.
