SuperXCsabre495 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Listening to mine right now, Somewhere Now skips horribly. I'll try to get a replacement :/ Edit: Just got my replacement copy from FYE and it skips again... Looks like I'll just be holding onto this because I collect vinyl, just won't be playing it.
LPbilliejr Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 anyone tried the regular black vinyl RevRad release???

I just don't know if I can let it go already
AmyxLongview Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Wow, even the FYE version skips? I'm listening to my red one for the first time, no skips so far. Edit: Actually there is a skip at the very beginning of Somewhere Now.
SuperXCsabre495 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Just ordered the black vinyl, should be here Wednesday and I'll let you guys know how it plays. I contacted Green Day's customer supoort about my red vinyl and they said "We are sorry to hear about your Revolution Radio vinyl! I'm looking into this for you, and will get back to you as soon as I have more information."
BUBBA7012 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I bought the standard version of Rev Rad vinyl from my local record store Friday and it skips only once during the acoustic intro in Somewhere Now. I thought I had scratched it or something on my walk home.

I also have a very cheap record player without any possibility of regulation and in the past I solved the same problem with other records in this way. But as @Dirty Liar said, before just try to clean the Vinyl very well, probably the factory didn't accurately clean them after the pressing process. Mine started skipping and i did this and it worked. I recommend doing this
LPbilliejr Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 After cleaning....only one skip: somewhere now -> "All Grown Up..." everything else ...perfect. I'm gonna call and see, because I really don't want to get another skipper as a replacement and/or give it up TBH.
Jesus of Seneca Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 People, I really don't think it's necessarily a pressing flaw. It's just a result of the loud quiet factor. On a normal/good quality turntable this isn't an issue because you have a counterweight that's made to be adjusted to compensate. With cheaper turntables that don't have this option, you just have to adopt the old trick of placing either a penny, dime, nickel, or whatever small coin that works best on the tonearm head. And yes, always always always clean your records. (Also, a lot of scratches aren't significant enough to cause anything noticeable. This is especially true with high weight records.)
Sarcasm Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 I've seen a lot of complaints about this, seems like it's not that uncommon for this release, sadly. Get a refund

I just have a hard time buying this when all of my records, from 45s to 33.33s from old as shit to brand spanking new work fantastic....except for this one. Only issue i've had is a warped to shit Destroyer and the AI: She's a Rebel(shoplifter) side skipping from my girlfriend playing it a thousand times.

Got mine a couple days ago and it skips throughout. I know what I'm doing with vinyl. I went and bought a new needle as well as a cleaner. Both had no impact. I'll be sending mine in to be replaced. I can appreciate you keeping it for the collectibility aspect, but I want to listen to this on vinyl not just look at it. 2 hours ago, LPbilliejr said: I just have a hard time buying this when all of my records, from 45s to 33.33s from old as shit to brand spanking new work fantastic....except for this one. I've had no skips on every vinyl but this.
AmyxLongview Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Yeah it's definitely a widespread pressing flaw. I can't believe they actually shipped these out. Total lack of quality control
Maid Meringue Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Mine skips for the first 2 songs, and it is super warped. My bet is Warner will make a second pressing to correct the skipping. Is this happening on the green FYE pressing as well?
TheUnforgiven Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Just got mine yesterday and it skips horribly on "Somewhere Now" and at the beginning of "Bang Bang" but the other side plays flawlessly. I'm probably going to just buy another copy because who knows, maybe those infamous "first press" recalled copies might be rare someday seeing as Warner would probably just destroy them if you send it back for a replacement.
Karl Karlson Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 My black vinyl (ordered via Amazon) looks fine and plays just fine on my Audia-Technica (AT-LP120) record player. If a record skips I adjust the counterweight. On my old record player I used to put a little coin on the arm.
WhiteTim Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 got mine today skips on all songs plus the label for side b looks like its been thru a heat gun
spark in the night Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Got mine today. Listened to it twice and mine does not skip! Hooray! I have a tiny bit of crackle but it's not bothersome.

I can play it but Somewhere Now is the only track that skips.
bjafan129 Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I finally got my red one the other day and it doesnt skip at all. It is slightly warped but plays fine.
SuperXCsabre495 Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Just got my black vinyl in the mail, skips on Somewhere Now again. I guess my record player doesn't like the song lol. It's weird that side B plays just fine but it's only Somewhere Now that has an issue.
Alan86 Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I havent even opened my vinyl yet to check. Something to look forward too this weekend.
jose armstrong Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Was going to save my red vinyl but all this talk made me open it and test it out. No problems here not even on the mentioned part between somewhere now and bang bang. I have a vintage Pioneer pl514 and I do recommend checking your tonearm. Definitely seek a replacement if the problem persists. I feel like the black vinyl WILL sound better but oh well. I'd rather open my limited edition to find out it works than to have it stored and never seek a replacement if it skips. listening to this reminds me of that green day feeling. It's good to have new music from them :') EDIT: I can't tell yet if mastering is true analog. My receiver has been having left speaker issues so Ill keep my comments on the mixing/remastering for now. I've gotta say though, besides my malfunctioning left speaks, the vinyl sound nice clean and silent.
