No songs from the Sweet Children EP are included so the list is a failure. And ridiculous to include All By Myself when it's just a joke hidden track, and Restless Heart Syndrome when it's clearly an amazing song. Disagree with most of the rest but I can see why they chose them. The Saints Are Coming is their best pick haha. I'll never understand how a song being in a film that you can easily just not watch and pretend doesn't exist can make any difference to someone's enjoyment of it. Seeing the video once hasn't made me associate it with Twilight any more than seeing a random fan video on youtube where someone stuck Boulevard Of Broken Dreams over some Twilight clips would make me associate that song with it.6 points

I feel bad for SD&V. I also cringed because of the chorus rhyming english math and science part, even though upon further reflection I can see how it makes poetic sense like "getting back to basics." The verses in the song I think are actually really strong, it's just impossible to get past that chorus3 points

My jaw literally dropped at the inclusion of Restless Heart Syndrome. And I would definitely disagree with Misery too, great, unusual song.3 points

I agree with putting The Forgotten in there. I think Twilight totally ruined that song for me.2 points

That whole list is horrible. Some of those are my favorite songs! And it's stupid of them to include "The Forgotten" - they said it's "perfectly pleasant… with lovely sentiment behind it," but they included it JUST because it was on the Twilight soundtrack? Being used in a bad movie doesn't make a song bad. That doesn't make sense.2 points

I think we can call not liking the Trilogy a popular opinion at this point.2 points

I haven't listened to that song since I first listened to 39/Smooth. Just put it on now and Jesus fuck that's awful. You're right, it sounds like someone took the actual recording and slowed it down in Audacity or some such shit.1 point

Just taking a crack at it The narrator is an ignorant and/or narrow-minded individual, and is trying to process information coming from someone a bit wiser. No clue how that fits the context of the rest of the lyrics though.1 point

I like Rest, but yeah, it's an acquired taste (takes some time to getting used to) - especially if you're used to the faster, heavier songs of later Green Day. To be fair though, just about 95% of their earlier (pre-Kerplunk) work is sappy/cheesy, y'know, stuff adolescent boys write. I mean, 1,000 Hours (and I like that song).1 point

Back in 2009, Rolling Stone was selling stuff with cover artists on it; they sold a shirt with their 2004 cover (and maybe the 2009 one, I got that on a poster at Walmart). But it didn't last. Strange, I know1 point

I actually kinda like the song until the chorus kicks in. Just can't do it. And the Forgotten music video without Twilight is actually quite beautiful. It's not on Youtube any more because someone took it down. Does anyone here have it saved?1 point

I really like The Forgotten, it's one of my favorite song from the trilogy, the strings are just awesome1 point

The Forgotten was a shit song before they put it in Twilight, so it doesn't really make any difference.1 point

Got to agree with Rest and Restless Heart Syndrome is very depressing, but I don't think I mean that in the same way they do I feel like they included Nightlife just because it's Nightlife rather than because it's actually bad. Not saying it's the greatest moment of their careers or anything, but yeah.1 point

Nuclear Family, Stay the Night, Kill the DJ and Let Yourself Go, for me. I can't stand Carpe Diem. Fell For You and Sweet 16 aren't necessarily bad, they're just boring. And I think my feelings on Oh Love are pretty clear! As explained by yours truly in the old thread, Lazy Bones is great because:1 point

Sort of random, but also very neat: Tonight I had the privilege to meet Marky Ramone, drummer of the Ramones, who spoke at my school tonight. After the show, I met him privately and he signed my belt and took pictures. During his presentation, though, he spoke a bit about Green Day. These are the random remarks he made: - All three of them are extremely nice guys, and he has hungout with them on many occasions - When the Ramones were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame, they didn't want to perform due to the recent death of Joey Ramone. Green Day volunteered to play Ramones songs, and apparently they rehearsed a lot and took it very seriously. Marky says that what Green Day did for his band was special and something he will never forget. - When asked about new music he listens to, he mentioned Foreverly, saying that it brings him great joy when artists test themselves and try new things. - He also said that Dookie is an excellent album, and that overall Green Day are very talented musicians.1 point
