  4. Basically, if it were completely different to what it actually was! Though I do completely agree with you. The Trilogy was full of so many good ideas, but they were executed terribly.

  5. I actually really like the in-your-face neon theme of the Trilogy artwork—it's just the crappy Instagram photos that ruin it for me. I don't know, man, it just really fucking depresses me. Just looking at the Trilogy artwork and forgetting what it's attached to, it looks like so much fucking fun. I just really wish that they'd pared it down to a double album, really fucking focused on getting the lyrics perfect and livening up the arrangements/dynamics, worked with Vig again instead of Cavallo, and actually had the balls to record it live with dirty guitar tone. I'm just picturing the vibe of Exile on Main St. with Green Day doing it and oh my shit that could have been the best thing ever. That, in the end, is why I so despise the Trilogy—not the poor quality (though it does suck balls) but because it was such a disappointing delivery on what was promised.

  7. I've got to agree with that whole-heartedly. I love AAF, but BIAB is an amazing live performance.

  8. But I wasn't there to see you there. And as Ken Ham has taught us, unless I was there personally I can't confirm you were there. Unless it's the origins of the universe, because Jizzus.

  10. See, now I'm insanely curious about this former dark side of yours. It's like '94 Billie vs. '04 Billie.

  11. I've always been impressed by how Billie doesn't miss a beat playing when that mudball directly impacts his guitar at Woodstock. Granted, he was probably too high at the time to even realize it had happened.

  18. If only we had the secrets thread. But seriously, has the band forgotten that Homecoming exists? At least play it 1/10 times instead of JoS

  20. I can't find any now, unfortunately. That said, I'm glad in a way, reading some of the posts I made back in 2005 I was an absolute dick

  21. I did have a fair few epic rants about Sam Beyer's directing/editing decisions when it first came out, on the GeekStinkBreath forum. I stand by them.

  25. There's no "first" punk band because there's no one spot where protopunk became punk. It's a gradient.

  26. Nice! And always glad to see it reported as Green Day, helps keep Foxboro secret

  28. You're harsh. It's not the worst Green Day song, far from it !

  29. Yeah I did! I heard about the show via the Big Cats twitter page a few hours before. The show was not packed by any means, it was pretty chill. His band played 2nd out of 3. During and after the show he was just hanging out with some friends on the left wall near the stage. No one was really coming up to him or anything. After he played I just went over and said hi. He seemed very down to earth and friendly. He seemed surprised and excited that I had heard about the show through his Little Rock band, then asked my name. Seemed to be in a good mood. I didn't talk Green Day with him, I was mostly curious about this new band (he said this was their first official show and they would probably put something out down the road.) I also chatted with him about The Replacements, because, like him, I am a huge fan, so there was that commonality there. Only Green Day thing: As we were talking he was packing up his messenger bag. When he closed it up, there was a AI Heart Hand grenade patch on the front. That was cool!

  31. The koolaid thing references the Jonestown massacre where they drank koolaid that had been poisoned. I suppose it's to do with following blindly without question, the narrator is jumping the gun with the girl. Unpopular opinion: homecoming is my favourite out of that and Jesus of suburbia.

  32. Tre Cool is one of the most skilled drummers though. Allot Green Day songs are very hard to play on drums.
