  2. Wha..? Their cover of Working Class Hero is the best cover they've done! Really made it different to the original by adding the drums and it sounds so passionate and beautiful! Honestly don't get how anyone could dislike it. I'm hoping Tom's in the minority , I haven't heard it talked badly of on here before.

  3. If they were going to do an Unplugged-type thing, I'd like to see them do what Nirvana did and cover a lot of songs—with the exceptions of "About a Girl" and "Polly", the best songs on MTV Unplugged in New York are the Meat Puppets and Lead Belly covers rather than original Nirvana material. We know from "Working Class Hero" and the 21CB covers that Green Day can do really great cover recordings if they put their hearts into it. I'd also like it to either be in front of a live audience or to just be the live-in-the-studio album Billie's been blowing smoke about for God knows how many years—I do not want to give him a chance to fuck it up by overlaying really heavy vocal filters or some such shit.

  6. They took the classic Springsteen-esque thing of putting serious lyrics to a jolly sounding melody and making it seem light hearted. It arguably makes it seem darker, in my opinion.

  7. I think Westbound sign would work well acoustically

  8. Class wars are still going on now tbh. Come Together is a horrible song in comparison to other Beatles stuff. Very overrated.

  9. I like him like that. Smooth, chubby, soft belly.... looks so healthy, I really dig it... probably ´cause I can offer the same.

  12. Agreed for many of their covers. But Working Class Hero isn't one of them. Doesn't sound anything like the original, the drums transform it and as well as just that they gave their own style to the whole thing.

  13. At least half the songs sound really good acoustic, from my experience.

  17. I'm torn on the idea of them doing an acoustic album. I LOVE the acoustic encores and the acoustic version of Redundant when Billie and Mike played it for MTV is incredible. But then there's things like the bridge show which even though I have it on my ipod isn't great, but I really love When I Come Around from it. The KALX acoustics are really good and fun to listen too but they're kind of lacking something. If they did an Unplugged type thing they would have to really be feeling it ya know? They couldn't just blast through the songs like they did with the bridge school and with all three of them the songs wouldn't be missing something, Billie and Mikes harmonies are a key too. But I think a lot of songs from pretty much their whole career except a 1039 and most of Insomniac would be usable, especially American Idiot. A lot of songs from that album would be beautiful unplugged, same with 21st. I don't think the trilogy would work well acoustically though, maybe a couple of songs like Rusty James or X Kid but not ones like Missing You or SWTRLF. But overall I'd love to see them do it, especially a performance like Unplugged compared to an album.

  19. An unplugged album with additional instruments such as pitched percussion, maybe a harp, violin, mandolin etc would work amazingly well for Jesus Of Suburbia, BOBD, Are We The Waiting, Give Me Novocaine, Extraordinary Girl, Homecoming, Whatsername, 21st Century Breakdown, Last Night On Earth, Peacemaker, Restless Heart Syndrome, 21 Guns, Brutal Love and, as Alanis proved, Basket Case. Sure, stuff like Insomniac and Nimrod wouldn't work at all, but they've done plenty of stuff in the last 10 years that would really lend itself well to an unplugged set. I'm surprised they haven't been asked to do one for MTV yet.

  20. I agree they didn't sound great, but what I'm saying is that Billie Joe's acoustic encores/acoustic radio show were done with just him and those Insomniac, Dookie, and Kerplunk songs sounded fantastic without the full band. An acoustic album wouldn't include the whole band, just BJA, therefore that show at the school is irrelevant to the argument I think.

  23. I will say the KALX unplugged session is my favorite Green Day bootleg ever.

  24. Trouble is, a lot of Green Day's back catalog wouldn't sound good that way. The Bridge School shows were interesting, sure. But Geek Stink Breath was not meant to be acoustified (acousticized?). A new album with a bonus EP featuring acoustic versions of selected songs would be a fun pipe dream.

  26. Not really weird, but my little brother was pissed off that we were listening to Green Day "again" so he made me put the radio on and Green Day happened to be playing.
