Are We the Waiting not being on the set list is quite possibly the worst set list decision they make consistently. The song is tailor-made for live shows. With its call and response + arena ballad sound. And the first two verses of lyrics are so incredible.4 points

When it comes to music you don't need an objective measure of talent. There are too many variables, and you certainly can't consider success any kind of indicator of talent. You have to use your fucking ears. To go back to the Minaj example, is her success down to talent or successful marketing? To use another example: Take One Direction. Five guys who are half decent singers, one of whom can play guitar a bit and another piano, a group who won a talent show, put out an album with 22 writers and 14 producers and it sold 1,900,000 in the US. Queens Of The Stone Age put an album out with 4 writers, all of whom actually played on the album, and 3 producers, one being Josh Homme. It sold 986,000 in the US. Want to bet which album is more complex and took more skill to write and perform? There you go. A comparative measure of talent.3 points

I love the pounding drums at the start of Are We the Waiting. I wish it had had another verse, but can't complain too much!2 points

It used to be my favorite from A.I., but I've grown tired of it lately.2 points

It's damn close between JOS and Homecoming. I couldn't possibly choose between them. The thing is, Homecoming feels long, sprawling and diverse, whereas JOS is just so well arranged it takes what should get boring after three minutes and stretches it out into a 9 minute epic that doesn't feel too long at all. I'd argue that Homecoming has the more epic feel, whereas JOS kind of feels a lot more natural. Homecoming seems to be a lot darker, like the evil twin of JOS, so to speak. The backing vocals in JOS are among the best I've ever heard, but Homecoming has leads from Mike and Tre. So it's neck and neck for me.2 points

I think Homecoming gets the nod from me, but it's close. Both are fantastic songs.2 points

Blood, Sex & Booze should be an essential addition to the setlist, as should 2,000 Light Years Away and Going to Pasalacqua. In my opinion, those 3 songs would be worth the price of the ticket alone.1 point

I think one of them wanted to name it Smooth and one wanted to name it 39. I don't know that we actually got an explanation of the "Smooth" part, just that the full thing came from compromise.1 point

Probably unpopular, but not unreasonable. There's a lot more to She's A Rebel. Similarly: The American Idiot riff is cheesy and annoying.1 point

Without employing relativity, the concept of talent wouldn't exist in the form it is now, or the "talented" party would be the only one able to perform whatever skill they had, and therefore be the ultimate judge of that. The final judge on whether someone is "skilled" or not generally comes down to where you have them placed in the relative hierarchy. Knowing what the skill is supposed to look/sound like is, like Praxus said, the initial indication that someone should be in this hierarchy whatsoever. Therefore, that placement is a Y/N to talent, then it's subjective. Maybe I'm rambling, but there's a point somewhere in there...1 point

Can the whole world just get together and agree to give rid of these piece of shit "talent" shows. They constantly roll out more and more shit, and it just gets the majority of people to think that it is good music, when in fact it is complete and utter rubbish. Both those girls were horrible, and yet I bet there are thousands who will say they are good now, but years ago before these shit shows came on tv they would of said they are horrible.1 point
