  1. I don’t play bass and don’t want to buy one. But watching Mike talk about it is nice…

  2. The remaster sounds great, the demos are pretty standard but have some highlights. Church On Sunday demo is a big stand out for me despite not being very different from the final version. Wish the vocals on Jackass demo were louder because I really can't make out any of the different lyrics at all. I like the Otis mixes and love the idea of them overall, but I don't seem to be as hyped on these as some others have been. Macy's Day Parade is great and Waiting is good, but I can't help but feel that the feedback on the guitar detracts from Waiting in certain spots. Particularly after the long pause. Not having everything kick in altogether loses a bit of punch. Still need to dig into the live show more. Overall, a solid box set. Probably the least interesting overall (excluding Insomniac's anniversary release) and my least favorite, but again the remaster alone was worth it. Sounds phenomenal. Current ranking for anniversary box sets would probably be Nimrod, American Idiot, Dookie, Warning.

  3. It would have been an interesting addition if it was the whole album of an Otis mix instead of just the two tracks. Nice to get an album remaster nonetheless. It's great we got demos, but the b-sides (mostly) being a re-release from Shenanigans and International Superhits felt like a double dip.

  4. The live tracks were a fun listen, even though they didn't sound like the boys were quite at the top of their game. I have a question though- there was some discussion a bunch of pages back about the version of Suffocate that was included. Were you guys referring to the Shenanigans mix vs. the one from the GR single? I can't find the posts now.

  5. I don't blame you. IMO they shouldn't release another anniversary edition for some time. We've had so many in the past few years and it seems like the consensus on this one is that the added value just isn't there to justify it. Especially at the utterly absurd price points. It's starting to feel like an upsell to get a quick buck from die-hard fans and I wish they'd just lie low for a few years preparing for the next album cycle.

  6. There will probably be a 21st CB 20th Anniversary Edition and it will be around the release of the new album or just after. I'm expecting even a stronger album than Saviors with many fresh ideas next. 😉

  7. Yeah, agree. It's one of my favourite songs by the band and the simple, driving rhythm section is what makes the song so great. IMO feels lacking without it.

  8. Dry Ice , 1991. 13 years old. Love @greenalert997x guide. In Guitar World, interesting article on string spacing if anyone's interested. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/lifestyle/lifestylegeneral/why-string-spacing-can-radically-change-the-way-an-electric-guitar-plays/ar-AA1JEj5U?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=EDGEDB&cvid=691b6114fbb1460b8351ddda00025a42&ei=35

  10. Yes! Really loved these two demos (especially Misery), with the half-baked lyrics and Billie (I think) being like "it's the bridge" in the middle of Misery Loved it. I know everyone is obsessed with the Otis mix of Macy's Day Parade, and I love it too, but I m actually obsessed with the demo. I just love it. All the sounds towards the end give it a tropical vibe (in my brain at least 😅) that reminds me of my hometown and gives me all the feels.

  11. After a long time I picked up the guitar again and I got into recording phase. I want to share some more of what I’ve recorded I remember listening to Green Day when I was 12 and being fascinated by the guitar sound/rhythm, especially Billie's style. Before I started playing guitar for real I used to do so called ,,air guitar'', immitating Billie. So by the time I grabbed a real guitar I arleady had a good sense of rhythm/ strumming in my head. (I certainly don't hold power chords like Billie, and that actually deserves a separate mention too; it's very characteristic; does anyone hold power chords like Billie ??)

  13. I definitely did not enjoy a majority of the live tracks on this Warning 2025 remaster album, that's for sure. The Misery demo was really hard to hear, it must have been damaged or something

  15. It's a very nice looking box set and the book has a lot of cool information. Hold On was written because a friend of a friend of Billie's was dying, wow. There was a misunderstanding about the orchestral parts on the album because they thought Billie wanted Within You Without You by the Beatles when he asked for With or Without You" by U2. Haha here's the guy who wrote the notes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Wild

  17. That was printed in the original booklet; I'm fairly certain it refers to the whoa-oh-oh gang vocal section.

  19. Bought a Cookie shirt about a year or two ago. I want the American Idiot one next.

  20. I just think the Warning man is such a great design it was criminal not to put it on the cover. I have the physical CD from 20 years ago and it's fine but not their most interesting cover That's really weird lmao. I'm kind of glad I'm not buying this and just listening to it for free

  21. Maaaaan, this is so heartbreaking, I'm glad they're at least putting these box sets out now so stuff like this doesn't continue getting lost to time.

  22. Lights Out lives rent free in my head sometimes for some reason. It is not a favorite Green Day song of mine, but it sure if an earworm...

  23. I was going to hold off for now too but bought it at that price! Even with the shipping to the UK it's less than half the price it is over here! £55 on Amazon UK. Edit - or maybe it's not letting me buy it at that price from the UK. Whatever I try it won't accept the payment method. Will just have to wait!

  24. https://www.instagram.com/p/DRCr-4-kbQe this may also explain why demos are missing (I.E: Warning, Waiting, Hold On and Minority)

  25. The front of the boxset box is what the cover of the album always should've been! Nice to see the warning man used properly

  26. I never thought I would utter these words, but here we go: I kinda liked the saxophone during 2,000 Light Years Away.

  27. Billie's vocals on the Blood Sex and Booze demo are slightly creepy and I like it. The unintelligible words/shouting at the end is different lol, is he actually saying anything or just random sounds? Glow in the dark Warning man shirt for my brother's Christmas present just arrived 😊

  28. I think out of all the anniversary box sets (not counting Insomniac), this one might be my least favorite, but I still enjoyed it. The demos are cool and have a rougher sound to them, but I'm kinda sad we didn't get more from this era, songs like "Waiting" and the title track not having demos are also kinda weird (maybe they never got demos recorded, who knows). The Otis mixes are cool, I hope they do something like this for future anniversary box sets too (like the "Uno Dos Tre" trilogy), the Otis mix of "Waiting" might be my new favorite version of the song. The 2025 remasters are also pretty neat, the songs sound a little cleaner, it's cool to hear this album get more polish and love. The live concert is cool to have, their Japan 2001 shows are awesome, but I noticed Billie's voice sounds a bit rough in this recording. Considering the concert the next day was the Shibuya-AX show, where Billie's voice was completely shot, I wonder if he was partially sick at this show too. Pretty interesting they chose this concert to include on the box set. I'm sad "Church on Sunday" and "When I Come Around" from this show got omitted for whatever reason, I guess their recordings of the songs got messed up or something. Hopefully the bootleg show of this show turns up so we can have the full thing available again. I hope the next box set will be 21st Century Breakdown or the Trilogy!

  30. My $17 Amazon box set arrived today! I noticed that all the B-sides are mixed much quieter than the Shenanigans version. All the demos are like this too. Top is Outsider from the box set and bottom is from Shenanigans CD.

  31. Mine has shipped from GD store, price seems to be as originally quoted.

  32. This is such a deep discount even before the release date I wonder who decided to do this and why. Is it because the preorders did well or not well enough? Feels like a gift to fans in light of the current economy with layoffs and exploding healthcare costs. Much appreciated whatever the reason. I was a buyer at $49 (or whatever the original price was) and this almost seems unfair, like clearance prices, but not complaining when the cost of everything else in life is so high. I’ll take the win 💚

  33. I've just listened to the demos. Deadbeat Holiday, Castaway are the standouts. Misery has different lyrics and more raw sounding as is Jackass. Blood, Sex and Booze, Church on Sunday and Fashion Victim are similar to the final versions with few different details. Macy's Day Parade Otis Mix which is without drums and bass sounds better than the album version. I wish this was the album version. Waiting Otis Mix is cool and makes me think why Minority didn't get an Otis Mix. It would be lovely.

  34. Just listened to the demos: Most of them are final versions, just like the demos from American Idiot. Exception is Misery, which has different lyrics on verses, almost like placeholders for a final song. The demos sound more 90's Green Day, louder guitars and slightly fast tempos. Waiting otis mix is awesome and I wonder if all those guitars were recorded back then and discarded on the final mix Macy's Day Parade Otis Mix is like the acoustic songs from Saviors deluxe, they only removed bass and drums from the track Maria is the single version

  38. i know i said this in the random thoughts thread a while back but like, Green Day should pull a metallica and make every single concert in their archive available for streaming, downloading, hell id kill for live SBD All the Time on CD or vinyl

  39. Yeah me too. There's nothing like an SBD quality live show

  40. I love these box sets, in particular for live tracks from previous live shows, I just can't help it, I'm so crazy about GD live there's nothing like it. I'm all for streaming music but live stuff is generally only available on record. Just listened to Blood, Sex and Booze (Live at Makuhari Messe, Tokyo, from March 2001). Released today. Holy shit that was awesome. Amazing quality. Like to close my eyes and pretend I'm there with all the fans. Can't wait for the box set to be released to hear rest of show. Thanks GD ❤️

  41. Radio Baghdad is also pretty much the same as the officially released demos also. The only difference is the demo on the anniversary set has the actual ending to the song. The ending that would carry over to the final release. The outro instead of the sudden stop. The five song demo was probably the most recent take before this anniversary demo, cause they sound so much alike. But also closer to what we would hear on the final. Regarding the fact that Whatsername and Novacaine are the same, yes. Absolutely. Not only that, they’re the same sample and bit rate as the official releases. They’re 24bit at 48khz. Also if you notice, the way this “Redditor” delivered these demos, the way they were presented. I mean for Pete’s sake, they’re 24bit flac and AIFF files lol. No CD or CD-R for that matter is capable of 24bit sound. It leads more credence to the theory that these did not come from just some random Joe on Reddit lol. These are pro master quality files that can only come from a label. Or someone who has access to master quality files. The fact that they came in AIFF also, is your smoking gun lol. 😆 Either someone from the band, or at the label, decided to give us an early preview two weeks in advanced. There’s just no way. Right before the official release. Too much of a coincidence.
