I don’t think it’s a surprise that people talk politics on a forum about a punk band, the one music genre that’s all about politics? 😅 especially a band that’s where vocal about where they stand at almost every concert

I would love it, but I could see him trying something new before doing another Shot project. The songs he did for Pinhead Gunpowder sound like they could be Longshot songs so if he didn’t save them for that he’s probably not planning another album. I suppose it all depends on what the songs he writes sound like, whether he thinks they’d suit Green Day, an existing project or a new one. I imagine the songs come first then he decides where they fit.

True but it's relative. I imagine he (along with many left leaning Americans) would support US "left" parties moving further left/being closer to European left standards if that was on the table I like it. And it seems plausible since Billie seems to be a writing machine that never stops so he's gonna have to do something between albums

I also like forums over Reddit. Obviously there are a lot of issues with Reddit but what I can't stand about music subreddits are how you aren't allowed to have a critical opinion about something. I've seen far too many threads saying things like those who don't like xyz album give it another shot!! Or don't listen to the haters! It's fine if you like an album. It's also fine if others don't. That's what makes an interesting discussion. Reddit is too much of an echo chamber.

I know its a stretch, but considering its a dual anniversary for Insomniac and Warning this year, and songs from those album has been snuck into the setlist as of late -- what if some of the choices is based on the fact that they originate from the Warning era? There's been reason to speculate that songs such as Oh Love and Brutal Love might have existed in one form or another as far back as Warning/Cigarettes & Valentines era. Sadly I don't expect there to be a Warning Anniversary box-set, but if there is it would be so cool if it turned out both Walk Away and Missing You are included as early demos/outtakes from that era. One can dream atleast, right?

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. I think the forums being quiet has more to do with that than with anything the band or even the admins and users of the forums are doing or not doing. Me too! I feel on Instagram (I cannot speak to TikTok becase I have never used it) all the interactions are way more superficial, you don't really get to form online friendships on there. Also, there is so much hate in those platforms, I hardly ever read comments on any post anymore. And besides, I feel every time I comment on a public account (Green Day account, news outlet, or my favorite WeRateDogs 😅), I started getting spam or follow requests from soft porn accounts. How is me commenting that a dog is cute or that I hope Green Day plays Fancy Sauce at their next show an indicator that I want to see some lady's "sexy" pictures? So that also discourages me (and I guess others) from participating in any discussion. The forums just feel like relatively safe space, where everyone is here because they love the band, so that means we also share some common values that are openly supported by the band. And here you interact with the same group of people every time so you can form actual friendships and bonds with them that can eventually extend beyond just the shared interest in Green Day.

Really? I guess that is true, every forum I see was made 20 years ago or shut down. What about Reddit? I feel Reddit is more popular than a single dedicated forum Morning, noon and night

I just think chatting on the forum feels more natural, but I’m not of the TikTok generation.

With other bands I follow it's mostly X, Instagram and Tiktok. Personally I can't be bothered with Tiktok or X. Parts of one fanbase I'm in, is active on Tumblr which I think is a little funny since so many of them are teens/in their early 20s. I used Tumblr as much as MySpace when I was a teen. 😅

Funny, some days ago I asked my Swiftie daughter about forums. And the answer was, forums aren’t a thing at all. Everything important happens on TikTok and Instagram. Times change, obviously…

I think it's more the general state of the internet though... most people who were really active in the golden years of the forums are now parents with young kids, and/or busy work schedules, so they cannot spend as much time and energy on the forums, or on the band in general. And newer generations are more into social media (TikTok Instagram, etc.), which was not as huge a phenomena back then, so they are not coming to the forums (and that makes me a bit sad because Green Day forums where such a nice place for me when I was a teen, so I feel they're missing out on something). But like I wonder if Taylor Swift forums (to name a really huge artist in terms of number of fans/listeners) today have as much traffic as the GDC or Idiot Club used to have in their golden years?

They are not resting yet. Tomorrow they start the South American leg of their world tour. So the (long?) time of rest and creativity will come afterwards. And their setlists in Europe this summer were the hits, unpredictable deep cuts 😂 minus anything from the trilogy. I liked it very much but would gladly have taken some trilogy songs too!
