  1. Because it seems strange if it was meant with actual bad intent towards a Beach Boys member of all people for no apparent reason. Can't really judge without knowing what he meant/what he was referring to, I don't know enough about Brian Wilson to know. He was sometimes rude on social media just curious why he would be in this case so wanted to find it. Not sure what Joey has to do with anything.

  6. Mate, that’s literally how it happened - you’ve just kicked off moaning about not being believed and you’re literally doing the same thing. We were all there, I vividly remember it happening, don’t have to convince myself anything - “fink” took over the account, deleted a bunch of stuff, and only posted network content. Once that mini era was over Billie deactivated it for a long time. I mean I literally have screenshots 🤣

  8. No I believe it I just want to find out the context of why he said it because it's weird lol. Gangnam Style makes sense because he was just saying it's shitty music. Btw this cover is amazing! His voice suits 60s music so well

  9. I've always been amazed at the Beach Boys vocal humanizes, and their abilities to hit those high notes. Billie Joe's cover version, like many Billie Joe/GD covers, is imho, better than the original. And again Billie Joe's ability to also hit those high notes reconfirms what an amazing voice he has and it is as strong and clear as ever. I remember the discussions concerning his voice in FOAM album songs, where he used the falsetto vocal technique. Would Billie Joe have used this technique also for this song or not?

  10. He‘s only human after all, and known to be impulsive. For me he needn’t be perfect…

  11. I really like the FIDLAR mix of fuck off better than the first. I think Billie Joe’s voice comes across as more raw-sounding. Reminded me of something from old pinhead gunpowder. Which reminds me, I haven’t listened to the new pinhead album yet. Am I a fake fan? I shall hide in my shame corner.

  12. Nope, he scrubbed his profile when the network “took over”. It was part of the shtick for money money 2020, after the joey stuff. plus I don’t think it’s unreasonable for someone to wonder the context of something, no one is saying you’re lying, chill

  14. May 8th, 2013. This dude is the herpes of music. Once you think it's gone, it comes back. Psy even reacted to it.

  15. Are you sure it was about him and the context was definitely seriously insulting him? Pretty sure he's always respected the Beach Boys. Would it have been on GD's twitter? I can't remember for sure what social media he was posting on at that time but if it was twitter should be able to find it. If it was Instagram probably not as his posts were deleted a few years ago But also because he criticised someone doesn't mean he didn't love their music, it's clear he'd be a Beach Boys fan and influenced by them. Plus he recorded this cover several years ago so it isn't "trying to act like he loved people after they died" either way. Edit: Psy thing was on his Instagram so if he said it was probably there. I'm trying to check the old GD Instagram thread but it takes forever to load Edit again: oh the link to the pre-2014 thread doesn't work so maybe it no longer exists . That thread would be the best bet to find it

  20. Can someone change the title from "BIllie's" to "Billie's," as a journalist, it bothers me lol .

  21. What I remember is, there wasn’t a reason for it. Brian had helped someone I know in rehab during the Landy years and was very respected by someone I’m very close to, and had been in our paper. I think it was even that day BJA posted the same picture with “you’re fucking nuts” which became a huge topic of conversation and subsequently killed the trilogy roll out for me. wasn’t a weird picture or article, and if I had a 12/13 year old screenshot of it, I’d certainly post it here. Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth and was completely uncalled for. Cool Billie posted the cover I guess but man that dude bugs me as a person routinely.

  23. His music may not be for everyone, but he lived a an intensely dark and fascinating life. If anyone is interested in learning more about his crazy life story…😌 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rkf-mFy0KKE

  24. A music video could be cool. Could we get a proper solo albums of originals from Billie one day? And it's totally normal to have a variety of opinions on one person. When I was watching the Coverups perform with a member of Van Halen, my mind instantly went to how Billie basically only loves one album by them and think the rest are kind of garbage. But there they were, sharing the stage together and having a blast. So what if you're crazy or some of your music sucks? I'm nuts and my music sucks, but people are always wanting to hang out with me, lol.

  25. I thought it was an accepted fact that Brian Wilson was “fucking nuts”, maybe not always expressed that way though 😂. I like Billie’s cover but was never a Beach Boys fan, I like this better as it feels more organic to me. Didn’t like their silky smooth type of sound.

  26. i honestly feel like they might do this cover (or at least tease it) at Download/sometime in the future

  27. You have to remember what state he was in at the time of the making of the Trilogy with his drinking problem, which came to a head at the iHeart Radio thing!!

  28. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth because I vividly remember him calling Brian “fucking nuts” on social media accompanied with an unflattering photo. Maybe around when the trilogy came out. Same time when He attacked the Gangnam style guy. I hate when people try and act like they loved people after they die…

  30. Brian Wilson’s passing has me pretty emotional today. Any band that plays with vocal harmony has been influenced by The Beach Boys and Green Day is no exception. Finally having this makes me feel the tiniest bit better. Does anybody know how to save this for download?

  34. I took it as about his attitude toward his self-destructive tendencies. Like the impulse is still there but he’s learned to, well, let it go. Kinda tied in to that line in Look Ma, No Brains! “it’s too late now for my suicide”.

  35. When I'm listening to this and hear the part "Some days I'm reaching for a blade, I gotta let it go, Sometimes I'm reaching for a knife, I gotta let it go, So no hard feelings..." I always think of an interview Billie did like 15 years ago where he was talking about seeing people who've talked shit about him not being punk and selling out etc and said "They're lucky I don't have a fucking knife in my boot" lol. Healthier attitude now

  37. I'm looking at a facebook post by Green Day Italy - Italian Rage and Love - where Billie is talking NEXT ALBUM! He says the ideas are coming along. He's writing lyrics and melodies, messing around with stuff but that nothing will rush them back into the studio right away. The guys want to get back into family life. And Billie has changed his thought process about time off. During the Trilogy, he said "bands go away and when they come back, they aren't as good" but now he says if you don't go away, they won't miss you. And that's good. that's healthy. He wraps it up by saying they are taking their time with what comes next, and want to make sure everybody is hungry for it. Very good. 15th album, that is a milestone. Will it be an experimental record like Father of all or Nimrod? Will it stay kind of in Green Day's lane? I think they figured out on Saviors that you can be incorporate some of those Father of All type experiments as long as there is a big wall of epic guitar surrounding it. If the production is done with love and care and precision - people will be more accepting. Green Day 15. Coming - at some point.

  39. Really love reading members views on GD songs. So, fascinated with the fans song ranking on greenday.fm. https://greenday.fm/charts/green-day-song-chart-top-50/ The link shows top 50, but you can click at end to get full list of 263 songs. Wow. Currently 'Dilemma' is number 3, my fav song 'Look Ma, No Brains', no. 14. And new in at no. 37 is 'Ballyhoo'.

  40. I respect and agree with you but I'm a tad unsure with the word 'obligation'. Imho I've always felt that Billie Joe's songwriting has always been inspired. What's in his head, what HE wants to convey, never what WE want to hear. What the band decide to release, whether the lyrics make sense or not, is their choice. They're not out to please us. FOAM is a prime example, unpopular maybe, but that's what the band wanted to release. Billie Joe said he wanted to experiment with other styles of music.

  41. Sounds like sex drugs and violence from the trilogy…seems to cover suicide/self harm drinking and a lo of other topics. Wonder what song the music video will be for?
    1 point
  42. To me it sounds like a common topic recently which is how he feels with his on again off again up and down struggle with a harmful habit. Reach for a knife, let it go, live it up, give up, it’s a curse, the worst, mama raised a bomb.. it’s in his nature to be a hellion but he fights against it. A couple of images I love are “useless as a … crippled ballerina” and “waiting on the sun like a star that’s blowing up”. It’s like another way of describing himself as a dead man walking. Like disaster has already struck but he doesn’t know it yet. He might write a lot about a short list of themes but no one captures the human condition and describes feelings in a simple yet relatable and emotional way like he does. He somehow always avoids sounding too self indulgent or self pitying. Like with Smash It Like Belushi the message is when you’re feeling this way just keep your head down keep going and rip shit up. It’s empowering 💚
