SO good! What do yall think? I love that he just drops it on insta. Billie's Post11 points

Brian Wilson’s passing has me pretty emotional today. Any band that plays with vocal harmony has been influenced by The Beach Boys and Green Day is no exception. Finally having this makes me feel the tiniest bit better. Does anybody know how to save this for download?6 points

I thought it was an accepted fact that Brian Wilson was “fucking nuts”, maybe not always expressed that way though 😂. I like Billie’s cover but was never a Beach Boys fan, I like this better as it feels more organic to me. Didn’t like their silky smooth type of sound.5 points

You have to remember what state he was in at the time of the making of the Trilogy with his drinking problem, which came to a head at the iHeart Radio thing!!5 points

His music may not be for everyone, but he lived a an intensely dark and fascinating life. If anyone is interested in learning more about his crazy life story…😌 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rkf-mFy0KKE4 points

A music video could be cool. Could we get a proper solo albums of originals from Billie one day? And it's totally normal to have a variety of opinions on one person. When I was watching the Coverups perform with a member of Van Halen, my mind instantly went to how Billie basically only loves one album by them and think the rest are kind of garbage. But there they were, sharing the stage together and having a blast. So what if you're crazy or some of your music sucks? I'm nuts and my music sucks, but people are always wanting to hang out with me, lol.3 points

Are you sure it was about him and the context was definitely seriously insulting him? Pretty sure he's always respected the Beach Boys. Would it have been on GD's twitter? I can't remember for sure what social media he was posting on at that time but if it was twitter should be able to find it. If it was Instagram probably not as his posts were deleted a few years ago But also because he criticised someone doesn't mean he didn't love their music, it's clear he'd be a Beach Boys fan and influenced by them. Plus he recorded this cover several years ago so it isn't "trying to act like he loved people after they died" either way. Edit: Psy thing was on his Instagram so if he said it was probably there. I'm trying to check the old GD Instagram thread but it takes forever to load Edit again: oh the link to the pre-2014 thread doesn't work so maybe it no longer exists . That thread would be the best bet to find it3 points

People can be fans of someone and not like an act plus it’s not like Billie wrote out a statement acting like they were friends or anything2 points

Solid cover! It sounds like the drums are programmed and pat of the more subtle harmonies aren’t dialed in yet, but would have been a fun Saviors deluxe inclusion! Go Billie Joe!2 points

Leaves a bad taste in my mouth because I vividly remember him calling Brian “fucking nuts” on social media accompanied with an unflattering photo. Maybe around when the trilogy came out. Same time when He attacked the Gangnam style guy. I hate when people try and act like they loved people after they die…2 points

i think the only reason why this wasnt a bonus on No Fun Mondays is due to it not being an 80s song2 points

I didn't know until after I posted, lol that makes sense now RIP Brian Wilson! Will listen to "God Only Knows" today in honor of the man!2 points

Because it seems strange if it was meant with actual bad intent towards a Beach Boys member of all people for no apparent reason. Can't really judge without knowing what he meant/what he was referring to, I don't know enough about Brian Wilson to know. He was sometimes rude on social media just curious why he would be in this case so wanted to find it. Not sure what Joey has to do with anything.1 point

I asked Copilot what Green Day's next album will be called: Now, that's a fun rabbit hole to dive into. Given Green Day's history of sharp wit, rebellion, and cryptic wordplay, their next album title could land anywhere from political angst to surreal absurdity. Here are some possibilities: The Loud Silence – A paradoxical nod to the quiet chaos of modern life. Permanent Midnight – A reflection of burnout culture and nocturnal creativity. American Mirage – A sequel to American Idiot, exploring the illusion of progress. Glue – A stripped-down name representing things barely holding together. Last Call for Dreamers – A melancholic farewell to youthful idealism. Cyanide Serenade – Poisonous beauty wrapped in melody. The Worst Kept Secret – A reference to leaks, rumors, and unspoken truths. If they leaned into Insomniac energy again, something raw like Kerosene Heart or Static Youth could work. Or maybe they'll troll everyone with Oops… We Did It Again. Where do you think they’re headed with their next release?1 point

It was his insta and it was a picture of Brian with “you’re fuckin’ nuts.” As the caption. And yes. I’m sure. Why would I say it if I wasn’t? Post is looooong gone. Probably deleted after Joey decided to be a creep. But I’ll post the picture if I can find it. Billie was just being a prick Doesn’t mean you have to make a shitty instagram post about someone?1 point

Don’t stop there! The rest of Pet Sounds is amazing (especially the stereo mixes) and they have a lot of other overlooked great albums after that like Sunflower, Friends, Smile, Smiley Smile, wild honey, surfs up, 20/20, Holland, The Beach Boys today, all summer long and more!1 point

Yeah, Zac Carper is Alice Baxley's brother that Billie helped. "The last time Carper left rehab, he was determined to use again. He was depressed, and all of his close friends but Schwartzel had abandoned him. The only others who hung around were still using themselves. Fortunately, he got a call from Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, who had gone through addiction problems of his own. He talked to him for an hour on the phone, advising Carper that it was worth it to try to stay clean. “I probably wouldn’t be sober today if Billie Joe didn’t call,” he says. “He really helped me when no one else was there.” "1 point

Alice Baxley’s brother is a band member. I think he’s the one that did the mix. IIRC, I think FIDLAR were also connected to SWMRS and the Armstrongs through the insular California punk community. They may have collaborated at one time or shared a producer but certainly were friends too until the whole Lydia thing when I think they had a falling out (This was after SWMRS were found to be pointing the finger at other bands acting all pure and noble just before they were accused themselves). Anyway, I also want to say there was another personal connection in the band between a member of FIDLAR overcoming addiction and Billie Joe being a great source of help and support.1 point

I'm looking at a facebook post by Green Day Italy - Italian Rage and Love - where Billie is talking NEXT ALBUM! He says the ideas are coming along. He's writing lyrics and melodies, messing around with stuff but that nothing will rush them back into the studio right away. The guys want to get back into family life. And Billie has changed his thought process about time off. During the Trilogy, he said "bands go away and when they come back, they aren't as good" but now he says if you don't go away, they won't miss you. And that's good. that's healthy. He wraps it up by saying they are taking their time with what comes next, and want to make sure everybody is hungry for it. Very good. 15th album, that is a milestone. Will it be an experimental record like Father of all or Nimrod? Will it stay kind of in Green Day's lane? I think they figured out on Saviors that you can be incorporate some of those Father of All type experiments as long as there is a big wall of epic guitar surrounding it. If the production is done with love and care and precision - people will be more accepting. Green Day 15. Coming - at some point.1 point
