  2. Yeah, Zac Carper is Alice Baxley's brother that Billie helped. "The last time Carper left rehab, he was determined to use again. He was depressed, and all of his close friends but Schwartzel had abandoned him. The only others who hung around were still using themselves. Fortunately, he got a call from Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, who had gone through addiction problems of his own. He talked to him for an hour on the phone, advising Carper that it was worth it to try to stay clean. “I probably wouldn’t be sober today if Billie Joe didn’t call,” he says. “He really helped me when no one else was there.” "

  6. Alice Baxley’s brother is a band member. I think he’s the one that did the mix. IIRC, I think FIDLAR were also connected to SWMRS and the Armstrongs through the insular California punk community. They may have collaborated at one time or shared a producer but certainly were friends too until the whole Lydia thing when I think they had a falling out (This was after SWMRS were found to be pointing the finger at other bands acting all pure and noble just before they were accused themselves). Anyway, I also want to say there was another personal connection in the band between a member of FIDLAR overcoming addiction and Billie Joe being a great source of help and support.

  7. the Father of All music video says that it's directed by "hella mega unicorn". WHAT? is Pukey a real unicorn that directed music videos?

  8. I love that! I actually sew custom patches. I trace the design and sew it by hand (I don't have a sewing machine.) I have sewn Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Star Wars, and I am working on a Slipknot one right now. I always work through the pain of sewing a thick patch onto a clothing item, haha. You did a great job!

  17. I took it as about his attitude toward his self-destructive tendencies. Like the impulse is still there but he’s learned to, well, let it go. Kinda tied in to that line in Look Ma, No Brains! “it’s too late now for my suicide”.

  24. Yes, this is the leaked version from 2023. The are just some differences in the mixing, I suggest to use headphones or a good sound system to notice them.

  25. Definitely American Idiot. For me, that's the only one where they really got all the branding aligned. Merch, posters, concerts, pretty much all their media has cohesion in the branding. It helped that it was basically 3 colors, red, white, black. The promo they had from partnerships matched in style. Since then, I'd Saviors is the only other one that has been close to being consistent.

  26. I like the feedback and the rawness, less polished in a good way. Need to listen not just out of my phone though and come back. I wonder what there connection to FIDLAR is? I suspect a photographer/videographer, I thought I saw something on insta like that.

  27. This is the superior version imo. I'd love Zac to work his magic on a new Green Day EP or the next album, that could be really cool.

  28. I sewed my London one on a hoodie along with two small Kerplunk and Warning patches I had. It just looks like I'm wearing an England football hoodie/patch to 99.9% of people lol but I like it anyway. Personally I don't trust iron on Edit: https://imgur.com/a/TJr8VA9

  29. What if they just keep adding to Saviors for a ridiculous amount of time? Lol. Super Duper Edition De Luxe! How many versions can we get?

  30. I like the Fidlar mix of FO better, it’s got that harder edgier sound I thought the original lacked. Good video too

  31. Thanks for the scans @jengd! I'm with Billie on the long runs and it never ceases to amaze me how lyrics and music just constantly come to him so whenever he's had enough of a break he's good to go. Sounds like he's doing really well

  32. Would love to see Redundant back on the setlist. Full band version, not the stripped back one from the Nimrod tour or acoustic version that was played during the 21cb tour (neither work or do the song justice IMO). The version we got on the BBC sessions. The song has been criminally underused by the band.

  33. Thank you so much for sharing @jengd, what a lovely read. I really need to work on disconnecting and being bored more — I cannot tell you how delighted I am to be taking mental health tips from Billie.

  35. Awesome news. Just read your post about getting it all back up and running, really cool story. GDA was always my go to site for Green Day news because the bands official site was (and still is) terrible. It also introduced me to GDC, again a much better fan forum than the official 'Idiot Club' forum. You can't beat fan run sites, they know what fans value more that the official sites. I look forward to checking in on GDA again regularly.

  40. Thanks Jen, that as a good read. Interesting to hear what he said about his side projects being not just fun things to do but also a way to keep his voice in shape between Green Day projects. Sounds like something that we can count on continuing then (and his voice has noticeably improved since the previous tour)

  43. I don't even do GDA because of Green Day anymore. I'm not on any other fansites or pages. I do it just because I value the sites and the community so much. GDA and especially GDC were my 'places' when I was growing up, in the same way Gilman was to Green Day. That probably sounds sad but it's just how it was for the people who grew up alongside the dawn of the internet, and honestly, I'm one of many people who has met real life friends through GDC so it's not like it isn't actually 'real life.' I've felt like throwing in the towel many times but I'm glad I haven't. It's very rewarding to see the sites making a comeback and to hear from others like me who are glad to see it. I won't pretend I can keep up with the other fansites when it comes to news because I can't, but for me, GDA has always been more than news anyway - it's about the community, info and fun anecdotes that aren't found anywhere else. I'll carry on doing my best for the foreseeable future ☺️

  44. Yeah this is a big part of what helped me decide to try and do more. There are some great communities out there, but reading comments on social media is depressing. It’s hard on a platform like that where you can’t moderate like you can on a forum. There are people doing good things out there, but I like the idea of something more tangible than just a feed to scroll past.

  45. Wow! Great news!! 🥳 Make GDC great again. Gonna try to be more online and active like I was before. Would be cool to eventually bring back GDC Awards, April Fools day, speculations.... etc

  46. 👏👏👏 Welcome back and thank you for all the hard work. GDA was once a great reference resource (still is for tour dates) and I know it will be again. The occasional support and interaction of the Green Day team made this place unique too. Fan message boards were my first introduction to the internet way back when and I still love having a place just for fans to connect and interact without all the other bullshit of scams, bots and trolls. I recently deleted my Facebook and backed away from the cesspool of most social media and I’ve been focusing back on the fan and special interest forum formats I once loved through Reddit and here. Still the best.
