Yeah, Zac Carper is Alice Baxley's brother that Billie helped. "The last time Carper left rehab, he was determined to use again. He was depressed, and all of his close friends but Schwartzel had abandoned him. The only others who hung around were still using themselves. Fortunately, he got a call from Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, who had gone through addiction problems of his own. He talked to him for an hour on the phone, advising Carper that it was worth it to try to stay clean. “I probably wouldn’t be sober today if Billie Joe didn’t call,” he says. “He really helped me when no one else was there.” "4 points

I'm not much of a sewing expert but it was hard as they are quite thick, so if you have the option of a needle that goes through thicker fabric easier it would be a good idea but I agree with @Mollyluna a thicker needle would be worse3 points

I always sew patches on. I fear ironing them wouldn’t be safe enough for them not to fall off…😅 @pacejunkie punk I use a regular sewing needle, and yes it IS hard work to get it through the patch but I think a thicker needle would be even worse. And I use regular thread, used double.3 points

This is the superior version imo. I'd love Zac to work his magic on a new Green Day EP or the next album, that could be really cool.3 points

I took it as about his attitude toward his self-destructive tendencies. Like the impulse is still there but he’s learned to, well, let it go. Kinda tied in to that line in Look Ma, No Brains! “it’s too late now for my suicide”.2 points

I love that! I actually sew custom patches. I trace the design and sew it by hand (I don't have a sewing machine.) I have sewn Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Star Wars, and I am working on a Slipknot one right now. I always work through the pain of sewing a thick patch onto a clothing item, haha. You did a great job!2 points

I did, but still the needle would slip and get me when I pushed. It was hard but I did it. Here it is! https://www.instagram.com/p/DKm9LwPRIJN/?igsh=bXdlN2ZrMzZhY3A02 points

Patches are a pain to sew on but don’t forget you can make it a little easier on your hands and use a thimble, old fashioned but really helps when they are thick.2 points

Those are sewn on? They look great you can’t even see the stitches. It’s funny you and @jengd are talking about this I had the exact same thought this week. I have three GD patches, a show patch and two from the Nimrod and the Trilogy box sets. I want to sew them on my old GD/Oakland Coffee sweatshirt I was wondering if that would look good. I think I’m gonna try it now. Did you use a regular size sewing needle or a larger one? Is it hard the get the needle through, the patches are kind of thick? I was wondering if I should use embroidery thread.2 points

When I'm listening to this and hear the part "Some days I'm reaching for a blade, I gotta let it go, Sometimes I'm reaching for a knife, I gotta let it go, So no hard feelings..." I always think of an interview Billie did like 15 years ago where he was talking about seeing people who've talked shit about him not being punk and selling out etc and said "They're lucky I don't have a fucking knife in my boot" lol. Healthier attitude now2 points

What if they just keep adding to Saviors for a ridiculous amount of time? Lol. Super Duper Edition De Luxe! How many versions can we get?2 points

I actually like this better than the original . The effects are cool, they do make me dizzy tho haha. If you stare at those hands long enough it just looks like there is something stuck between the fingers lmao1 point

I sewed my London one on a hoodie along with two small Kerplunk and Warning patches I had. It just looks like I'm wearing an England football hoodie/patch to 99.9% of people lol but I like it anyway. Personally I don't trust iron on Edit: https://imgur.com/a/TJr8VA91 point

A question more than a thought. Has anyone put the patches from last year’s shows on anything? How were they? I think I might sew them on my sweatshirt rather than iron in the hope I can save them once sweatshirt dies.1 point

no matter how many versions they make, Fever will never be on any of them1 point

That made me want to laugh and cry at the same time lolllll. Torture I am actually curious what it would have sounded like when young Billie reached the "what's fucked up and everything's alright" part1 point

I like this one better too. The original sounded thin, this fills the sound in better.1 point

I'm pleasantly surprised. "Fuck Off" had been one of the weaker tracks from the Deluxe Edition for me, it felt too restrained for the message it was trying to convey. But this version is definitely an improvement, as it makes it fittingly more aggressive. I really dig it!1 point

Not the cross-over I expected, but very happy it happened. It's so good.1 point

It’s so nice to read how they truly appreciate this time in their careers and have enjoyed the hell out of this tour. For so many years, it seemed like it was just go-go-go for them and I don’t think they really stopped to look around and feel proud of what they accomplished or enjoy the moment. They definitely do that now and it’s great to see. I’m sure taking that time to embrace it all makes it an overall more positive and relaxed experience for all of them.1 point

Thanks for the scans @jengd! I'm with Billie on the long runs and it never ceases to amaze me how lyrics and music just constantly come to him so whenever he's had enough of a break he's good to go. Sounds like he's doing really well1 point

Father of All Motherfuckers is Green Day’s Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. No, I will not elaborate any further.1 point

There's always something new to learn, and tonight I'm digging into the gear that Green Day used when recording Insomniac. Pretty interesting, as I've rarely thought about what mics and amps they used. There's a lot of info out there about that as well as the guitar, bass and drum set ups they had. Just realized that all of the band's songs with "American" in the title have their most controversial lyrics. Hmm.1 point

In my opinion, their aesthetics really hit their stride starting with American Idiot. Everything before that (aside from maybe the Warning music video) just doesn't do it for me visually. That said, my favorite has to be 21st Century Breakdown. Though I'm not the biggest fan of Billie's huge hairdo during that time, everything else is top-notch when it comes to the aesthetics. The Trilogy is a close second.1 point

Technically yes, of course. YouTube is lossy, Japan CD is lossless. Mixing wise it's the same. I think the bonus is a sticker with the drawn Billie Joe thingy from the promotional stuff, that's it. Amazon JP had a LP sized print as a bonus.0 points
