Thank you so much for sharing @jengd, what a lovely read. I really need to work on disconnecting and being bored more — I cannot tell you how delighted I am to be taking mental health tips from Billie.4 points

Thanks for the scans @jengd! I'm with Billie on the long runs and it never ceases to amaze me how lyrics and music just constantly come to him so whenever he's had enough of a break he's good to go. Sounds like he's doing really well2 points

Would love to see Redundant back on the setlist. Full band version, not the stripped back one from the Nimrod tour or acoustic version that was played during the 21cb tour (neither work or do the song justice IMO). The version we got on the BBC sessions. The song has been criminally underused by the band.2 points

Awesome news. Just read your post about getting it all back up and running, really cool story. GDA was always my go to site for Green Day news because the bands official site was (and still is) terrible. It also introduced me to GDC, again a much better fan forum than the official 'Idiot Club' forum. You can't beat fan run sites, they know what fans value more that the official sites. I look forward to checking in on GDA again regularly.2 points

Pretty nice uplifting and positive interview. Nice to hear that Billie has had a great era following his struggles. Also I relate to the boring = awesome in this stage in my life.2 points

Thanks Jen, that as a good read. Interesting to hear what he said about his side projects being not just fun things to do but also a way to keep his voice in shape between Green Day projects. Sounds like something that we can count on continuing then (and his voice has noticeably improved since the previous tour)2 points

Father of All Motherfuckers is Green Day’s Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. No, I will not elaborate any further.1 point

CLA is the goat for real. Every great alternative album in the 00s has his touch and they all sound great. Jerry Finn, Rob Cavallo and Chris Lord Alge are the goats of our era in what they do.1 point

Hello! Some of your staff may recognize me from Tumblr as greendaychick14. For 12 years (along with others from the Tumblr Green Day fanbase) I have grown up with GDC and GDA. We talk about you on Tumblr still! I no longer update my Tumblr everyday, and I haven't signed into here in at least 9 years! But what I can say is that I check Green Day Authority every week to see what's going on! Thank you so much for creating this community and to your staff for keeping the news up to date! I see Maria posts a lot on here and I just wanted to thank her for updating so often. This community means so much to me, and honestly this site is better and more accurate than Green Day's own site half the time lol. This was part of my childhood and now at 26 years old, after not signing in for 9 years, I am happy to say thank you for all the years of dedication you all put in. And thank you for being so dedicated that you guys were willing to pour your lives and money into making this stay. I hoped one day you would come back on, and I'm so happy I was right and that you did! Rage and Love ❤️1 point

The return of GDA! Welcome back! The site has had its ups and downs over the years, but I'm glad GDA/GDC has persevered. I've been in and out of fansites throughout the years, but GDA is the only one that has stuck with me. This site and community mean so much to me. I've made friends here, gotten so much support when going through difficult times, and experienced the kindness of other fans. It still blows my mind how people here are willing to help out others and expect nothing in return. It's just fans helping out other fans. And I've received so much love, support, and advice here whenever I was struggling. I've experienced so many life events while on this site: bad breakups, losing loved ones, losing jobs, etc. But no matter how bad it got, GDC was there to help me through it. Sometimes it was venting with others. Sometimes it was just to gwak at Billie and take my mind off of things. This love and support help keep me going, especially in terms of writing. I've been writing independently for 10 years now, and it often feels like you're writing into a void. I've wanted to quit so many times, but just when I wanted to give up, I would get a comment from someone on GDC, and it'd make me smile. I felt good that at least one person took the time to read something I wrote. It inspires me to keep writing. It even helped me join the GDA team! I still remember someone on the board recommending me as a writer for the site, and it meant a lot to me. I'm filled with so much pride and joy everytime I log onto the site and see "GDA Staff" under my cursed profile picture. I remember when I first found the site, thinking the people who got to talk about Green Day all day were the coolest people in the world. I never thought that one day I would join GDA and be part of the cool kids Even though the site has been through some rough times, it's great to see the impact it has had on people. Fans still talk about the site and have good memories tied to it. I hope more folks will visit the site, whether they're new or returning users, because this truly is a special place. Long live GDA.1 point
