The return of GDA! Welcome back! The site has had its ups and downs over the years, but I'm glad GDA/GDC has persevered. I've been in and out of fansites throughout the years, but GDA is the only one that has stuck with me. This site and community mean so much to me. I've made friends here, gotten so much support when going through difficult times, and experienced the kindness of other fans. It still blows my mind how people here are willing to help out others and expect nothing in return. It's just fans helping out other fans. And I've received so much love, support, and advice here whenever I was struggling. I've experienced so many life events while on this site: bad breakups, losing loved ones, losing jobs, etc. But no matter how bad it got, GDC was there to help me through it. Sometimes it was venting with others. Sometimes it was just to gwak at Billie and take my mind off of things. This love and support help keep me going, especially in terms of writing. I've been writing independently for 10 years now, and it often feels like you're writing into a void. I've wanted to quit so many times, but just when I wanted to give up, I would get a comment from someone on GDC, and it'd make me smile. I felt good that at least one person took the time to read something I wrote. It inspires me to keep writing. It even helped me join the GDA team! I still remember someone on the board recommending me as a writer for the site, and it meant a lot to me. I'm filled with so much pride and joy everytime I log onto the site and see "GDA Staff" under my cursed profile picture. I remember when I first found the site, thinking the people who got to talk about Green Day all day were the coolest people in the world. I never thought that one day I would join GDA and be part of the cool kids Even though the site has been through some rough times, it's great to see the impact it has had on people. Fans still talk about the site and have good memories tied to it. I hope more folks will visit the site, whether they're new or returning users, because this truly is a special place. Long live GDA.9 points

Hello! Some of your staff may recognize me from Tumblr as greendaychick14. For 12 years (along with others from the Tumblr Green Day fanbase) I have grown up with GDC and GDA. We talk about you on Tumblr still! I no longer update my Tumblr everyday, and I haven't signed into here in at least 9 years! But what I can say is that I check Green Day Authority every week to see what's going on! Thank you so much for creating this community and to your staff for keeping the news up to date! I see Maria posts a lot on here and I just wanted to thank her for updating so often. This community means so much to me, and honestly this site is better and more accurate than Green Day's own site half the time lol. This was part of my childhood and now at 26 years old, after not signing in for 9 years, I am happy to say thank you for all the years of dedication you all put in. And thank you for being so dedicated that you guys were willing to pour your lives and money into making this stay. I hoped one day you would come back on, and I'm so happy I was right and that you did! Rage and Love ❤️6 points

I'm looking at a facebook post by Green Day Italy - Italian Rage and Love - where Billie is talking NEXT ALBUM! He says the ideas are coming along. He's writing lyrics and melodies, messing around with stuff but that nothing will rush them back into the studio right away. The guys want to get back into family life. And Billie has changed his thought process about time off. During the Trilogy, he said "bands go away and when they come back, they aren't as good" but now he says if you don't go away, they won't miss you. And that's good. that's healthy. He wraps it up by saying they are taking their time with what comes next, and want to make sure everybody is hungry for it. Very good. 15th album, that is a milestone. Will it be an experimental record like Father of all or Nimrod? Will it stay kind of in Green Day's lane? I think they figured out on Saviors that you can be incorporate some of those Father of All type experiments as long as there is a big wall of epic guitar surrounding it. If the production is done with love and care and precision - people will be more accepting. Green Day 15. Coming - at some point.4 points

My daughter-in-law just brought me a Green Day t-shirt from India, one of the Dookie ones. She says they have much more merch there since their Mumbai show!3 points

Awesome news. Just read your post about getting it all back up and running, really cool story. GDA was always my go to site for Green Day news because the bands official site was (and still is) terrible. It also introduced me to GDC, again a much better fan forum than the official 'Idiot Club' forum. You can't beat fan run sites, they know what fans value more that the official sites. I look forward to checking in on GDA again regularly.2 points

Pretty nice uplifting and positive interview. Nice to hear that Billie has had a great era following his struggles. Also I relate to the boring = awesome in this stage in my life.2 points

CLA is the goat for real. Every great alternative album in the 00s has his touch and they all sound great. Jerry Finn, Rob Cavallo and Chris Lord Alge are the goats of our era in what they do.1 point

Sorry for the double post I just got my vinyl copies of the deluxe edition (ordered from the web store) and the pink lyric book is different from the "Saviors" promotional run last year, for anyone who might be curious about the lyric book.1 point

omg this absolutely awesome. Great job! That's crazy, I've been wanting to record a cover of Scattered, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. You're awesome, keep it up!!1 point

Thanks Jen, that as a good read. Interesting to hear what he said about his side projects being not just fun things to do but also a way to keep his voice in shape between Green Day projects. Sounds like something that we can count on continuing then (and his voice has noticeably improved since the previous tour)1 point

Aww . Thanks, if I happen to find it I'll post it but this is a perfectly detailed description anyway!1 point

Ballyhoo and the acoustic version of father to a son are definitely my favorite tracks from the deluxe. I’ll say the acoustic is better than the original, although the vocals are chopped noticeably in some parts. I think it’s the original track with a lot of elements just taken out. Underdog is an honorable mention. The rest is meh to me. I played look ma no brains after the new tracks to see how they sound different and it is definitely noticeable! CLA definitely worked his magic.1 point

Such great news. I found this forum because of GDA. I had never looked at fan sites before that. GDA/GDC changed that and not just because of the band but because of the people on here. I’ve met many and hope to meet many more. This is really a great place and can’t wait to rediscover GDA again. Thanks for all your hard work, Fuzz!1 point

I love GDC and GDA, and will be here until I die. Even death won't stop me from loving this amazing forum. Thank you guys for all you do, you are much appreciated and loved!1 point

This has been my hangout spot since April 21st, 2008 - the day before Stop, Drop and Roll came out. There's been crashes, drama and one time I got in trouble for asking who someone was (I gotta let it go!) - but man, it's always fun. No idea who 99% of your are in real life, but I feel like we know each other. We've been talking about Green Day together for 17 years. That's wild.1 point

👏👏👏 Welcome back and thank you for all the hard work. GDA was once a great reference resource (still is for tour dates) and I know it will be again. The occasional support and interaction of the Green Day team made this place unique too. Fan message boards were my first introduction to the internet way back when and I still love having a place just for fans to connect and interact without all the other bullshit of scams, bots and trolls. I recently deleted my Facebook and backed away from the cesspool of most social media and I’ve been focusing back on the fan and special interest forum formats I once loved through Reddit and here. Still the best.1 point

I love this track; it's one of my favs from the deluxe version. I feel like it has a very unfinished vibe. If more time were spent on the song, I think it would be so much better1 point
