  1. I’d sell my soul for a Insomniac 30th tour playing the album front to back…hell combine it with the Warning 25th and play both albums it would be under two hours…imagine hearing Bab’s Ulva Who, Panic Song, Westbound Sign live along with Hold On, Misery and Deadbeat Holiday. A die hard Green Day fans dream.

  2. You're very welcome! He had a little smirk on his face when saying it, it was the cutest thing. It made me happy hearing him say it, I figured you guys would enjoy it as well

  4. I'm extremely excited I'm gonna get to see them twice this year! Once in São Paulo and then again in Curitiba. I'm just a little bit sad that they decided to end the Dookie-American Idiot tour before coming to South America. Looks like seeing Homecoming and Whatsername live will remain one of those unreachable dreams... Anyway, still can't wait!! Always amazing seeing them live.

  7. What I would love to see is for it to get a bit more of love in the tour. They played Dookie in full for its 30th anniversary, surely they can add one or two extra songs from Insomniac to the setlist?

  10. Nice Guys Finish Last was on Lithium (SiriusXM channel no. 34, fav channel). Very surprising to me, since all I hear on other channels are Boulevard of Broken Dreams, AI, When I Come Around, Basket Case, and maybe Welcome to Paradise.

  11. For me, it has to be 21 Century Breakdown. The 21st Century Breakdown World Tour is Green Day's absolute peak in my opinion, and I love the entire era's look so much. (Also a lot of nostalgia for that era so I'm completely biased)

  12. They need to play Castaway some time. Billie tried to play it in 09 and stopped at the 1st pre chorus due to forgetting lyrics I think. It actually sounded nice when played/sung more softly. I LOVE the live versions of Castaway from 2000 - 2002.

  15. I love this track; it's one of my favs from the deluxe version. I feel like it has a very unfinished vibe. If more time were spent on the song, I think it would be so much better

  16. Not news but neat, short interview with Hot Milk (terrible name, good band) speaking about Green Day among other stuff. Sorry, link dropped off.

  18. Assuming they let this song cook a little longer, I think this would’ve been a great album closer. I know people really like Fancy Sauce (I’m personally not a huge fan), but I love when Green Day ends an album with an emotional track.

  19. Although I'd love a win, I'm just glad it got nomination recognition. I'll be forever bitter that RevRad didn't.

  21. I was honestly shocked when it didn't win a single Grammy. If there was an album to restart Green Day's winning streak it's this one.

  22. I’m really kind of disappointed that Saviors hasn’t gotten more award recognition in general. It deserves to be recognized for the rock great album that it is

  23. Instead deserves a 30th it is so overlooked which is shocking considering it’s their 3rd best selling album next to Dookie and AI. It’s a fan favorite and I’d love to hear raw outtakes of Bab’s Ulva Who, Panic Song as well as Westbound Sign..they must have some unreleased material from this era.

  26. This is my fav song from deluxe. As always, let the song take over my soul and body, and then concentrate on the lyrics message:- [Verse 1] I wanna be your underdog I'm not number one, but I'm second to none Heroes are overrated when you are the outlaw 'Cause I wanna be your underdog [Verse 2] I wanna be your underdog I'm so hideous that I'm beautiful Maybe you're one of a kind, but I'm the chosen one 'Cause I wanna be your underdog [Pre-Chorus] I'd rather live amongst the wild, wildlife Life is too short to be normal I may be ugly, but I'm larger than life I'm not a loser, I'm not a loser [Chorus] I wanna be your underdog I wanna be your underdog I wanna be your underdog I wanna be your underdog [Instrumental Break] [Pre-Chorus] I'd rather live amongst the wild, wildlife Life is too short to be normal I might be ugly, but I'm larger than life I'm not a loser, I'm not a loser [Chorus] I wanna be your underdog I wanna be your underdog I wanna be your underdog I wanna be your underdog I found this interesting online interpretation:- Embracing the Underdog Spirit: A Green Day Anthem Genuine authenticity - Celebrating individuality - Rebellious spirit defiance - Living authentically Green Day's song "Underdog" is a powerful anthem that celebrates the spirit of being an outsider and finding strength in one's uniqueness. The lyrics convey a sense of pride in not conforming to societal norms and embracing one's individuality. The repeated desire to be an "underdog" suggests a preference for authenticity over superficial success, highlighting the value of being true to oneself rather than striving for conventional heroism. The song's protagonist embraces their imperfections, describing themselves as "hideous" yet "beautiful," and "ugly" but "larger than life." This juxtaposition underscores the idea that true beauty and greatness come from within, rather than external appearances. The line "heroes are overrated when you are the outlaw" further emphasizes the rejection of traditional heroism in favor of a more rebellious, unconventional path. This perspective aligns with Green Day's punk rock ethos, which often challenges societal norms and champions individuality. "Underdog" also touches on the theme of living life to the fullest, as expressed in the lines "life is too short to be normal" and "I'd rather live amongst the wild, wildlife." These lyrics encourage listeners to embrace their wild side and reject the mundane, suggesting that true fulfillment comes from embracing one's true nature. The song's energetic and defiant tone reflects Green Day's signature style, combining catchy melodies with thought-provoking lyrics that resonate with those who feel like outsiders in a conformist world.

  28. I think you’re conflating critiques with negativity. As many issues as I personally have with the band’s material since RevRad, there’s still a lot to like when you look through that lens. In other words, someone can admit a song is bad on its own merit but still enjoy it for what it is (me with almost the entirety of Dos 😅)

  33. I’m obviously biased: I became a fan toward the end of the AI Tour. The 21CB era was the first one I actively followed (including here on the forum – I signed up in 2008). The hype in 2008/2009 was immense, and this forum played a big role in that. The sound, the voice, the songs, the album – 2009/2010 was the peak of their creative output, truly on top of their game. I remember losing it when I first heard the 21CB song demo in 2008 – I had it on repeat for days! When I think about the live concerts in 2009 and the summer of 2010 that I had the privilege to witness, it brings tears to my eyes because those are such beautiful memories, and I’ll always be grateful for them.

  34. Yeah super tough one. For the music I'd say Nimrod tour, this was a band that had truly found its sound and wasn't afraid to hide it any longer. The Nimrod era kinda went to the core of Green Day's sound, inherently punk but not afraid to push boundaries and experiment. And also most of all, it was about having a damn good time while you're at it. Admittedly though, live shows throughout the Trilogy tour (and towards the end of the 21CB tour) were quite fun and varied too. Aesthetically speaking, In hindsight, I actually think the RevRad tour had really cool stage production and visual design, kinda harking back to the 90s whilst keeping some of the quirks of post AI tours. But overall, my favourite is the American Idiot era and tour. I'm super biased, as AI is my favourite album, but what I loved about that tour and era was the "yeah, let's kinda take on the world and be the biggest band on earth for a while, cuz why not" vibe, reflected in everything from interviews, live performances, to stage design, outfits, merch etc. It's brash, pretty audacious and yet, it worked. BIAB portrays a band at the top of their game, they seemingly have the crowd and by extension the world in the palm of their hand, and they know it. And whilst I do like the 21CB era a lot too, I feel like AI era Green Day was particularly striking in how markedly different it was to preceding eras, whilst still keeping some of the 90s vibe. It saw them fully embrace concerts as a visual and auditory performance, well choreographed and polished from start to finish. But at the same time, most songs from Dookie/Insomniac/Nimrod were still played as a trio, with Jason White, Jason Freese or Ronnie Blake etc. only joining in for the new stuff. I kinda liked that. It kept part of their rawness. Live performances of those songs have since become more polished, since having two guitars adds a fuller, more studio like sound to the songs. That is also cool, but again loses a bit of the original energy and drive. The stage production too was certainly bombastic, but it was actually kept remarkably simple, with a black and red colour scheme, fitting Billie's stage and photoshoot outfits, with physical stage curtains being used most of the time. On the other hand, 21CB went all in with all kinds of visual FX, video screens and different colour schemes. More varied, less coherent. Certainly very cool, but then again, I feel less is sometimes more.
