  1. In the Kerrang article he says he is doing long runs and swimming in the sea a lot, it’s clearly good for him, he looks amazing! He says the running is good for his mental health, not an original thought but so true and I’m glad it’s working for him.

  2. The problem with Stay Young is the potential it has. The melody is great and with an actual chorus it could be elevated way more. The repetition makes it feel like such a drag and feels much longer than it is. It feels unfinished like they could have worked on it more and brought out a great song in it.

  3. …when the simple act of buying tea can turn out to be quite funny. This morning I went to my favorite tea shop (that has a very charming owner) to buy the usual Sencha tea. The owner was there and began telling me about this new brand they had and how good it was, showing me the package. And on the label it said „Japan Sencha Green Day“. Hilarious: I’m very sure this German tea company has no clue that a band by that name exists nor what the expression Green Day actually means…😂 By now the owner probably was wondering why I was grinning all over my face, and so I told him that as a huge fan of the band Green Day I would of course try that tea. And he said that in the past he had also been a fan and bought all their albums. So I recommended Saviors and he promised to listen to it. What a nice shopping experience!😊

  4. I’m surprised people aren’t more in love with Stay Young I mean definitely repetitive, but let’s be real it’s GD To me the song just sounds so nostalgic warm fuzzy and ugh. so good.

  5. Looking at the tracklist for Saviors made me realize it's so hard to pick just one! Dilemma is great, Corvette Summer is a fucking banger, LMNB is just punk rock goodness, and Suzie Chapstick tugs at my heart strings. But I have to give it to Fancy Sauce. For a song with such a silly title, it's so heavy in what it tackles. In a way the title is disarming. It lures you into these false sense of security. Oh this is going to be the silly song. And then you're getting an exhausted Billie singing about feeling like he's going crazy in a world that's going crazy. I love every minute of it.

  6. I've only done one listen through the deluxe edition, but as others have said, I'm underwhelmed. Stay Young starts off pretty good, and then we get to the clunky hook. It's repetitive, and the song overall seems unfinished. Fuck Off....ugh it's not great. It's trying way too hard to be edgy. It just doesn't work. And thank you, everyone who said it sounds like Murder City! I knew it sounded like another GD song, but I couldn't place which one. Smash It like Belushi is such a throwaway track. It's not bad; it's pretty catchy, but nothing special. One of those songs I'll forget about it and then go "oh yeah" when it comes up on shuffle. Ballyhoo, I actually like a lot more now. I think it's the strongest out of the bunch. It actually sounds like it could be on Saviors and feels like the most complete song. Underdog is pretty good too! I quite enjoyed that one. The acoustic versions are disappointing. Are they really just the regular versions of the song with certain elements isolated or removed? No wonder they sound exactly like the originals. And why Father to a Son? The song is already a ballad. An acoustic version isn't really gonna do much for it. Honestly, this deluxe release is pretty meh overall. Even if they wanted to include all these songs, I would've loved it if they included some live tracks of Saviors songs or maybe even some demos. That would make the release feel a bit more worth it to me.

  7. I respect and agree with you but I'm a tad unsure with the word 'obligation'. Imho I've always felt that Billie Joe's songwriting has always been inspired. What's in his head, what HE wants to convey, never what WE want to hear. What the band decide to release, whether the lyrics make sense or not, is their choice. They're not out to please us. FOAM is a prime example, unpopular maybe, but that's what the band wanted to release. Billie Joe said he wanted to experiment with other styles of music.

  8. For me it'll always be from Dookie to nimrod. Most of it to me is just three dudes rolling up to gigs in whatever they wore the previous day thrashing away on beat up instruments, which I found relatable when I was getting into the band. Nimrod they started to do more of the stage bits, but it still carried the feel I described. Certainly lends itself since they would roll up in mechanics' shirts at that time.

  9. Really love reading members views on GD songs. So, fascinated with the fans song ranking on greenday.fm. https://greenday.fm/charts/green-day-song-chart-top-50/ The link shows top 50, but you can click at end to get full list of 263 songs. Wow. Currently 'Dilemma' is number 3, my fav song 'Look Ma, No Brains', no. 14. And new in at no. 37 is 'Ballyhoo'.

  10. I haven’t spun saviors in a long time, but my immediate reaction to these deluxe-o treats are the following: all these songs would sound great live in a smaller setting a la pre-trilogy release shows! Belushi: Love it! Just Green Day being fun Green Day! Stay young: sounds a little like U2 meets whatsername. Really good ideas here, a little network like in the vocal styles, I can dig it! F off: hmmm. The guitars and bass rip it up! Might be a grower not a shower. It’s not that annoying, kinda fun. Will have to revisit this at a future date Ballyhoo: I love it! Fun Green Day mode activated! Could have been included on the album. the acoustic songs are just the drums and bass muted, ideally designed for content creators to record their own performances and hopefully get a lot more followers! Wooo! Underdog: I love it! A healthy blend of nimrod and trilogy and would sound great performed live in a music club. I actually appreciate the difference in sound quality in the mix. Would be comfortable on the shenanigans comp. Stay green, my people! Enjoy!

  12. The video was fine. I loved the performance bits. Billie looks fabulous. The whole time I was thinking he shouldn't have so much hair at his age! The overarching story? Eh....sure?? But the real star of the show is the OEB plushie. I want one, please.

  13. This is a live reaction; I am listening as we speak (minus the acoustics, I don't have much of an opinion, I still love them as much as the originals. Well, I actually like Suzie more) Stay Young: I actually really like it. Super repetitive, but Billie's voice is my favorite. Fuck Off: Legit murder city. Atleast I already know how to play it on guitar loll Underdog: Not as bad as Fever, but if you all have read my other posts, I despise fever. Def at the bottom, but not terrible Rankings: 🥇Ballyhoo 🥈Smash It Like Belushi 🥉Suzie Chapstick (acoustic) 4. Stay Young 5. Fuck Off 6. Father to a Son (acoustic) 7. Underdog

  14. ...creative? Whatever it is, all I can think about is Billie flipping off the camera. That gave me butterflies lolll. Besides that, I don't get it, but our boys look fabulous in the performing parts

  15. I don't feel like it lives up to the song itself, which I think it much more energetic than the video felt. But it's fine.

  17. That’s a fair point. I think I like it so much because of the potential, but I have been feeling disappointed too because if they had given it more time and care, I really think this could’ve fit right into the album, rather than being a B-Side. These guys have been recycling melodies a bit in recent albums, so maybe this will get a facelift and the care it deserves in a future release? Probably not, but a boy can dream

  18. Oh man, is this my new rep on GDC? The Grohl: Hates LOTAG, said hi to Kevin once, and despises the GD store? I'm very happy you had a good experience with the official store!

  19. Well that took a dark turn 😐 I thought that too... either pedophile or domestic violence? But very dark turn either way. Yeah, totally agree (except there are two other GD videos I really don't like)... and it's a shame too, because the performance bits were quite good, and as mentioned the guys are looking cute as ever.

  20. It's the only Green Day video I actively dislike. The ONLY saving grace is Billie's hotness and fabulous outfit.

  21. I can confirm they played 2000 LYA! It was so great! And no, the show definitely didn't end after that

  22. You're not the only one. I love stay young and it's green day. I'll take stay young than those three skippable songs from tré album(trilogy)

  23. No disrespect to Jon Batiste but I'm soooo sick of these hear for the first time videos. Most of the time I think people are hamming it up or lying for the camera.

  26. What' the name of that one song? Ya know, the one that goes "stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young"? I can't think of the title. more lyrics include "stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young stay young"

  27. Tbh I've barely returned to any of their music/lyric videos since RevRad. The lyric videos from RevRad were cool and I still think a lot of their music videos from the 1994-2016 period are awesome but I just don't watch them anymore. Their new videos just don't do much for me personally.

  28. Ballyhoo is definitely my favorite from this. I really dig it.

  29. I think you’re conflating critiques with negativity. As many issues as I personally have with the band’s material since RevRad, there’s still a lot to like when you look through that lens. In other words, someone can admit a song is bad on its own merit but still enjoy it for what it is (me with almost the entirety of Dos 😅)

  30. I already posted this video in the Saviors deluxe edition thread, but I wanted to put it here too becuase we need to talk about what a babe Billie is in this video. Like seriously, how does he keep getting more babelicious by the day?
    2 points
  31. I wonder if maybe some of these songs were from the scrapped 1972 project? Like these got tossed aside when they decided to go in the direction that ultimately became Saviors? Also, I don't think anyone has posted this new video we just got for One Eyed Bastard? I still love this song and now I love this video.

  32. I hope the guy they buried was a pedophile, that was my takeaway after seeing his captors were little kids. At first I thought they were gonna bury the poor SOB alive but they didn’t go quite that far. Wild video, very reminiscent of a classic 80’s vid that tells a story I got drawn into it. The guys look great in the performance bits I always appreciate when they’re included

  35. I wasn’t expecting much from the deluxe songs and that’s what I got. Like many Green Day b-sides, I probably won’t be coming back to this (I still love Ballyhoo though, so that’s a win!). Like with any artist I like, “deluxe” tracks are appreciated but are very hit or miss in terms of quality. I’m most disappointed in the “acoustic” songs — a different mix of the original recording is not at all the same as having a new acoustic version of the song, which would’ve been so great to hear. You can’t just isolate the acoustic track and the original vocal, it doesn’t sound right at all. I’ve heard other artists try this before and I never like it.

  36. I love Saviors, but this isn’t it. Smash it like Belushi and Ballyhoo are fun and catchy, but the other new songs feel more like C-sides. The acoustic songs sound like lesser versions of the originals.

  37. Don't have scans, but I could try take pictures and upload tomorrow. There's nothing we really don't know other than that the Saviors cycle is probably gonna end after the summer run, so they can all take some time off 😅

  39. From one of the lead actors in the film. Sounds like Billie (and Jakob!) co-wrote 4 or 5 original songs for the fictional band in the film to perform. Just like with Ordinary World, I was hoping they would write new music for the film too. This is great: https://www.instagram.com/stories/masonthamesofficial/3639189694185552542?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igsh=MTkyZWFhZ216Znlq

  42. I finally got a chance to listen to these new songs and yeah I don't know what they were going for here. None of them even feel like they belong with the rest of the album, they're honestly closer to The Longshot or the new PHGP album than Saviors. Even though Belushi didn't leave much of an impression on me, I was fine with that track when I thought at the time that it was just a leftover for Saviors. But no, these songs were apparently made after Saviors specifically for the Deluxe which just makes me wonder why it's so much worse than the actual album? None of the tracks work as actual album tracks imo. I think Ballyhoo, Fuck Off and Underdog work as "B-side" type tracks even though they aren't actually B-sides. Smash It Like Belushi has only shrunk on me with more listens. Stay Young is extremely boring, repetitive and overly long. The acoustics seem unnecessary, they don't improve the songs, they're barely any different and I don't see why anyone would choose to listen to them over their originals. Very disappointing release and I didn't have very high expectations anyway. If I were to rank the entirety of Saviors + these new Deluxe songs, I think all 5 of the new tracks would probably rank at the very bottom. Maybe a couple of them would surpass One Eyed Bastard (which is my personal least favourite of the og album, I wish they were releasing a music video for a different song). I'll give them some more listens but yeah, not expecting my opinion on these tracks to change massively Apparently according to people here and on r/greenday, people giving their opinions or any kind of criticism after listening to them is them "complaining"

  44. Fuck Off misses the mark for me compared to its predecessors like FOD, Platypus and Let Yourself Go. It’s mostly tempo and vocal delivery. It’s too damn slow and he’s singing it straight. I feel like he should be putting more venom and attitude into it like he does those earlier songs. He could be singing about anything. Maybe that’s the joke but that’s why it’s a weaker attempt imo.

  45. A big well done to Green Day Store. Postie delivered record at 7am this morning. I was a tad dubious ordering from them as past shipping experiences, particularly for @The Grohl left a lot to be desired. But Amazon where very sluggish in loading ordering info to their site this time, so I risked it. Boy oh boy, now I've got the set. 3 Saviors records, the original, the Japanese bonus, and now the deluxe. 🙂

  46. I really wish they would have actually written a chorus for Stay Young. I like what it has going on but it definitely feels incomplete. Nothing really stands out for me besides Belushi. I still enjoy that a lot, but unfortunately it gave me high hopes for the rest.
