  1. Why are we so obsessed with what Fantano thinks? Is he influential in a way that I’ve just completely missed?
    5 points
  2. Absolutely. That's a music critic job, clinical analysis of a song, which they may like or not, possibly without any emotional attachment? It was the critics that predicted GD's terminal decline after Warning. And look how wrong they where. A critic's entitled to their opinion of course. But have they got what I have, GD is in my body, soul and spirit. My heart belongs to them coz they make me happy. And SILB & Ballyhoo are awesome, thanks GD. ❤️

  4. I'd never heard of him before I joined this site. Users on here seem to have a fascination with whether or not the band get his approval. When it comes to music which is almost entirely subjective medium, it's a bit weird to put so much credence in what some YouTuber thinks. Traditionally, music criticism can offer objective insights by examining musical elements like structure, technical execution, and historical context. As far as I can tell, this guy's content just boils down to whether he likes something or not. I might be getting a bit long in the tooth, but who cares?

  5. Redundant is easily a top 5 music video of Green Day’s the concept alone! I will never know why this song was not a hit single or why it isn’t a live staple. Perfection

  7. There's one by my house I can check but they didn't even have the coffee stuff , not even the promos on the window, so I highly doubt it.

  8. PBC cups and straws spotted in Chicago! My friend just grabbed one for me! 🥲 It's 2600 N Lincoln near DePaul. Also my friend is the best. She went to 13 different locations to look for me lol. Even her husband was looking for me! Gotta love it when your friends enable your GD obsession.

  9. Descendants, Rancid, Operation Ivy, Fifteen, AFI, Best Coast, Generation X, Billy Bragg, Bruiser Queen, Buzzcocks, Dog Party, The Dopamines, FIDLAR, Hüsker Dü, The Interrupters, Jawbreaker, The Leftovers, The Linda Lindas, Lipstick Homicide, The Misfits, The Muffs, Mystic Knights of the Cobra, The Offspring, Pinhead Gunpowder, Teenage Bottlerocket. A lot of my music taste has been shaped by Green Day. That’s why I don’t consider their pop/rock crossover appeal to be a bad thing.

  11. I still have to try the one by work. I'm not desperate for it; I don't think I've had a slurpee since I was a kid. Just nice to see the guys in the wild.

  12. I tried at the one at Chicago and Rush yesterday, but they had nothing, not even coffee, much less the slurpees.

  13. I think that’s just more indication of it being a FOAM leftover

  14. I remember learning this years ago when I was obsessed with Dita Von Tease! I rushed and watched the video just to find her lol. Redundant has always been one of my fave songs and videos. I don't think it gets enough love!

  15. The Redundant music video is easily the best music video of the band! Here's another cool fun fact : it premiered on MTV Live on 17th April 1998!

  16. Not sure if anyone posted here, but Dita Von Teese recently posted to IG about her appearance in the “Redundant” video! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DIrmm1ozM-1/?igsh=MXg2aW5lbjE2c3g0ag== “Fun fact, I was in a @greenday video in the 90’s. I arrived camera ready and in my own dress 💅 #greenday #coachella” I actually didn’t know this myself and now I have another fun fact for the future haha

  20. They seem to be touring Europe. On June 18th I will see GD in Vienna, and my husband will go to Turnstile, also in Vienna…😅

  21. I saw them at Riot Fest and it was amazing. The first time I was in a mosh pit in a long time. Can’t wait until they tour again. I’m liking the new stuff so far.

  22. I like how "Fantano likes a Green Day song" just means "Fantano not putting Green Day in worst tracks of the week"

  23. HAHAHA I've seen that video before, too lmao. How did I not know? That's the best "you know ur a green day fan when..." I've seen in a long time. lolll

  24. Yeahhh, I am not a big fan of Fever at all lol, but it might grow on me like FOAM did...

  26. There are a lot of similarities between the Dü and GD, especially early on. The main riff from At The Library is very similar to the one from You’re a Soldier is a comparison that comes to mind. Certainly adds up both of them being from New Jersey. The Souls were influential on a lot of bands. The heavy representation on Billie’s guitars is how they first hit my radar. Funny enough I’ve been listening to the Lemonheads a good bit lately; the self-titled record where Evan is backed up by Karl Alvarez and Bill Stevenson.

  29. This really baffles me as I kinda thought at the time they’d be saving it FOR the deluxe…maybe a single one day? 😅 if not maybe on the Saviors 10th Anniversary LMFAOO

  30. im guessing we might see Hella Tiny Tour 2 at one point Warning 25 is a given, but i wonder if they're gonna say fuck it or not with including a certain concept that ended up getting "stolen" and that would later evolve into AI theres also Punk Bunny, which will always keep on rolling no matter what

  31. Yes, the run of US festivals is quite extensive! It does seem like GD have really enjoyed this tour/cycle. That's why a tiny part of me wondered if they would do some more shows next year before ending this cycle, but it's probably just wishful thinking on my behalf!

  32. The more they move away from their early hardcore sound, the more people scream THEY'RE NOT HARDCORE BOOOOOO (I freaking love Turnstile)

  33. I haven't listened anything from Green Day besides the trilogy since ¡Uno! came out, and now Foreverly and i feel like i don't need the other albums right now, i'm so in love with the trilogy
