  1. So Serena isn’t speaking? That’s a bummer. I like that Rob is speaking though, they should have someone representing them who has worked with them.

  2. The Bunny really fits in so well with Hollywood Boulevard's bullshit. Times Square is really the only better place for him 😂

  4. Ryan’s speech was lovely, he said so many things about their music that really rang true and were really kind. Billie nearly forgetting to thank Adrienne, Mike forgetting Britt, Tre not thanking his wife and children, and no one remembering Ryan Reynolds is just incredible. I love these idiots.

  7. Also so heartwarming to see the whole Armstrong clan there. How amazing is Ollie? Look Ma, I got a star! 😄 The speeches were a lot like the RnR Hall of Fame ones except Billie didn’t look like he was going to throw up and pass out at this event. They must be getting jaded 😜

  8. I knew that one but he left out Desecrated Youth and Truant I wonder why Serena couldn't make it, I'm sure she must have been disappointed she loves these guys so much. I'm sorry too that they cut the livestream just when the Big Three stepped up

  16. That was lovely to see. Billie’s mum is amazing, she looks great at 93! Hope to be able to watch it again, I love hearing people say how wonderful our boys are. Find it extremely weird that we saw band arrive and then after speeches but not at all during!

  19. The full version of Ballyhoo is out if you know where to look ; ) It has Trilogy vibes. I think it doesn't fit the Saviors standard tracklist so it is understandable why it is a bonus song on the deluxe edition. I can't decide if I like Smash It Like Belushi more but Ballyhoo will definitely be some fans' favorite. Fun song 👍

  30. I originally was just hoping Billie would be shown in Wrexham since he attended that one thing there. Hadn't thought of him being on Sunny til you mentioned it. They keep talking about Ryan playing Mac's boyfriend- how about Billie instead?

  31. Lmao just enough to show it's probably another standard b-side type song, looking forward to it though

  32. Even though Ryan Reynolds is just meh for a lot of people, I actually think it’s really cool that someone as famous and in-demand as him wants to take the time to do this for Green Day. I don’t think celebrities get anything out of doing this other than supporting someone they care about, so that’s pretty awesome. Their star looks amazing. Feeling very proud!

  33. I hope not. It’s such a complex issue with so much emotion involved. If they did talk I think it would just become a media circus with no winners.

  34. 15 April On this day in 2009, Green Day played the Uptown in Oakland – the last time they played 21st Century Breakdown in full. On 15 April 2005, Green Day played the University of Miami Convocation Center in Coral Gables, FL on the American Idiot Tour. More photos: So that’s a wrap. I hope this project will be a great resource for many years to come. It was a lot of work but I'm glad I completed it. I’ll eventually add new events as they happen and go back through the thread to remove ‘_ years ago’ so it will always be relevant (I definitely don’t have the time or energy to change the numbers each year). I still need to add some things I missed in the beginning and quite a few Saviors Tour shows. I’ll post when I add them so if people want to see them, they know what to look for. If anyone would like to reminisce on the anniversaries of anything, whether it’s shows, albums or videos, please continue to do so! The best thing about this thread is people sharing their own experiences

More photos: On 14 April 2010, Green Day performed four songs on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. More photos: On 14 April 2010, Green Day played the Fox Theatre in Oakland on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. They played the album in full again. The show was partially filmed and videos can still be found on YouTube. If you only watch one, I personally think this is proof that Christian's Inferno should replace St. Jimmy for at least a few shows. I used to watch the knock-off DVD every other day after school. Also had a shirt from the show (from eBay) that I wore to death. More photos: On 14 April 1991, Green Day played Coconut Teaszer in Hollywood, CA. Oh my God, queuing for this show The entrance to the arena is inside the casino, near a food court. Three different songs were blaring at once. Others remembered Johnny B. Goode – which they were convinced was put on repeat to drive us away – but I only seemed to notice Roar by Katy Perry. The staff eventually said we could stay as long as we stayed awake. Someone tried to sleep in a toilet cubicle. I accidentally fell asleep on a table and a woman claiming to be a manager threatened to have me arrested if it happened again. We moved outside at some point. I don't remember it, but I apparently tried and failed to stop someone asking a prostitute about good places to sleep before falling asleep on the pavement. People started arriving from all over the world in the morning. At doors, a British staff member (called Bill, according to my recap) gave a speech about how he understood how long we'd been there and would get us inside fairly. He did. I wish British staff in Britain were that competent. The VIP tickets were sold out which meant there were 100 of them, but we all got great spots anyway. I was in front of Mike. I was so tired I wrote that I 'felt like I was melting into the barrier,' but the show was AMAZING. 100% worth it and the queue stories were hilarious. Some random tidbits from the recap: Mike was wearing the Otis jacket. Billie began the Holiday bridge with ‘Nevada, Nevada, place your bets!’ After Youngblood, he reluctantly announced ‘I’m kind of getting used to this Las Vegas Raiders thing’ before adding ‘fuck you I’m from Oakland.’ I'm not going to post the whole recap because it's just a load of emotional gushing. I took this photo: More photos: On 7 April 2013, Green Day played the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on the 99 Revolutions Tour. More photos: On 7 April 2009, Green Day played The Independent in San Francisco on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. It was the first time they played the album in full. More photos: On 7 April 1989, Green Day (as Sweet Children) played the Veterans Memorial Center in Davis, CA.

On 5 April 1998, Green Day played the Andrews Amphitheater in Honolulu, Hawaii on the Nimrod Tour. More photos on the GDA Tumblr 'Armstrong had gotten ahold of bikini panties and a bra. He dropped his pants to reveal … white boxers. For modesty’s sake, he pulled the panties – white tag showing in the back – up over his boxers, before doing a bump and grind. This is one guy who should always wear as much clothes as possible. The show had to be over when Tré Cool came crashing over his drum kit. Having been hidden behind drums for the set, the green-haired drummer was going to have his time in the spotlight – even if he had to kill a few instruments in the process. He punctuated the proceedings with the crash of a microphone on a cymbal, threw his bass drum, then, lifting his floor tom over his head, he bashed every side on the corner of the stage as if he were husking a coconut.' — George F. Lee, Honolulu Star Bulletin On 5 April 1994, Green Day played the Oz Nightclub in Seattle, WA on the Dookie Tour. More photos on the GDA Tumblr

More photos on GDA On 2 April 1994, Green Day played DV8 in Salt Lake City, UT on the Dookie Tour. 'Last night we played in Salt Lake City. Thought it was really cool that MCA from the Beastie Boys showed up. He liked the show. But that show got kinda out of hand because kids were jumping off this balcony that was as high as this roof onto the crowd. I don't mind stage diving, just as long as people are courteous of others. If there's 5 or 10 people standing around and they're not packed together and a guy just jumps on them and lands all of his weight on one guy's neck, that's wrong, or a girl's neck for that matter. I would say 60/40 the girls have taken the bulk of the landings on this tour. It's pretty brutal. Like 5" tall, 20 lb girls in the front catching these 200 lb dudes jumping out. And this guy who was jumping off the top was like 180 lbs. He jumped off twice and the second time he jumped off he knocked himself out. He was out cold. He was literally passed out. Everybody got out of the way, he hit the ground and they had to drag him outside. It was like, you're an idiot. ...If there's a fight, if something like that happens we stop. Actually we stopped when they found him. Because the guy was an idiot. I mean, you shouldn't jump from that high. And this crowd was spaced out too. It wasn't like completely packed.' – Mike Dirnt --------------------------- 3 April On this day in 2017, Green Day played the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA on the Revolution Radio Tour. You can see me on the left in that photo (the pink hair) and I look so bored I definitely wasn't because that was an amazing show. More photos on the GDA Tumblr On 3 April 2013, Green Day played the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA on the 99 Revolutions Tour. This was also an amazing show It wasn't a cold day, but the street where we had to queue was like a wind tunnel. Someone bought an overpriced university blanket and we kept huddling together underneath it. I was insistent that I was fine despite being concussed from Pittsburgh but everyone kept telling me I did NOT look fine. I probably wasn't, but I didn't care. A guy cosplaying Santa sang Know Your Enemy. In Holiday, Billie forgot the lyrics and put us in a 'trance' to repeat 'Billie Joe did not forget the lyrics to Holiday tonight.' I have a vivid memory of him waving an inflatable banana around. Stay the Night, Oh Love and Brutal Love were highlights. More photos on the GDA Tumblr On 3 April 2002, Green Day played the Rainbow Hall in Nagoya, Japan. On 3 April 1998, Green Day played the University of Wollongong in Wollongong, Australia on the Nimrod Tour. I prepared the posts for the time I was in LA before I left and as you can see, I forgot once I got home.

  42. 31 March On this day in 2013, Green Day played the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA on the 99 Revolutions Tour. Well, this was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to and it also gave me one of my best Green Day stories. I went to a few American shows on the 99 Revolutions Tour – Rosemont, this one and Philly. A girl sang Longview and when it was time for her to stage dive, Billie gestured for the crowd to put their hands up to catch her, but noticed that I was in the firing line and told me to cover my face. The venue security pulled my hands away and told me to put them up. Should have done what Billie said. The girl jumped awkwardly and landed boots-down on my face. There was blood everywhere, my glasses were broken, and security were fussing around me with ice and water. At first I thought I was fine and the staff were overreacting. Billie and I exchanged thumbs-up and the band started Basket Case. The next thing I knew, I thought I was in my bed at home, dreaming about seeing Green Day in Pittsburgh. I woke up in the first aid area with blood still gushing from my nose. A paramedic asked how I felt. I said I was disappointed I’d lost my barrier spot and asked if I could go back into the pit. She laughed and said that was what the last person said, but no, I was not going anywhere. I watched the rest of the show from the first aid box in a daze. Once the show ended, Eddie (the band’s head of security at the time and one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met) approached me with something and said, ‘Mike wanted me to give you this.’ It was the jacket he’d been wearing for the last few shows. Tre had also passed on a drumstick. I exclaimed, ‘really?!’ Eddie laughed and replied, ‘yes, really.’ I thanked Mike for the jacket on Instagram later and he replied, ‘you gals looked like you were having so much fun! Glad they got you my jacket! XX’ Everyone has always said they’re sorry I got knocked out but there’s no need to be. It was hilarious! I might have been gutted if the concussion had stopped me going to the next show, but I didn’t even consider it – the resilience of an 18 year-old determined to see their favourite band is quite something 😂 I even hammered the glasses back into shape and wore them for another year. The scar lasted a while but it’s gone now. On 31 March 2002, Green Day played the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. On 31 March 1998, Green Day played a second night at the UNSW Roundhouse in Sydney, Australia on the Nimrod Tour.

  43. 29 March On this day in 2013, Green Day played the iWireless Center in Moline, IL on the 99 Revolutions Tour. Photo by Katie McPansy Grogan On 29 March 2002, Green Day played the Hokkaidoritsu Sogo Taiikukan in Sapporo, Japan. On 29 March 1994, Green Day played First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN on the Dookie Tour. 'Green Day, March 1994. I bought tickets well in advance. They were $4. The week before the show Longview blew up and was all over MTV. (Remember when they played videos?) The buzz and anticipation inside was at a fever pitch. You could tell they were on the verge of getting huge. Every song turned into a sing-along, even though it was clear that half the room only bought Dookie in the past month.' — Robert, fan On 29 March 1990, Green Day played Marsugi's in San Jose, CA. 😂 No, it was a fresh shower gel kind of smell. I've heard lots of people saying Billie smells unwashed but he didn't.
