I keep seeing conservatives trying to insult Billie and Tre on social media with 'they look like old lesbians' and I never wade into the cesspits that are internet comment sections, but in these cases I'm really having to restrain myself from pointing out that Billie and Tre would not be offended.4 points

Absolutely love that Serena Williams gets to speak. Her love for them is awesome.4 points

I‘ve read that it’s streamed on the Walk of Fame site. But I very much hope that somebody films it or records the livestream because at exactly this time I will be at a Donots show…🫠3 points

Being a boomer, I grew up with The Who, Bowie, The Clash, Ramones etc but my love for Green Day helps keep me in touch with newer artists I think. Don’t remember how I first got into Frank Turner but def through GD for The Linda Lindas and Amyl And The sniffers. Dare I say, didn’t love Prima Donna when I saw them, please forgive me @Montclare 😉3 points

Mike no longer owns/runs Rudy's. He gave it up and the staff took it over. He has posted pics of himself popping in when he's in the area since3 points

oh tons of bands, Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network, The Longshot, The Coverups - oh no wait More seriously though, I'd say that although I had known of these artists previously, Green Day still helped get me more immersed in the likes of The Clash, Generation X, The Who, David Bowie and Tom Petty, mostly as a result of their live covers and talking about their influences in interviews. The Who in particular. It's always been my dad's favourite band and well, I guess the link to Green Day created some great bonding-through-music experiences He was particularly impressed with their A Quick One, While He's Away cover, as am I. The Who are a brilliant band. As my dad used to say, the quintessential rock band and I think I agree. It's hard to describe The Who as anything else other than a rock band, no further labels or qualifications needed. I think Billie must have got part of his flamboyant stage antics from them and Tre definitely seems to have taken inspiration from Keith Moon in some ways too. Though American Idiot (and 21CB) appear to be conceptually inspired by Tommy, which is a pivotal album no doubt, my personal favourite of theirs is Quadrophenia, which I think is a superb album. Truly a rock opera in every sense of the word. And the accompanying feature film is actually pretty decent too.3 points

The thing I find funny is the number of people insulting them on fanpages. Not the band/members pages, but like Green Day Italy, etc. It's sad enough to be on the official page of someone you hate, but how empty does your life have to be to hate obsess on a fanpage?2 points

I can only think they are envious of GD's success. Album sales of almost 94m, shows how much the band are appreciated, enjoyed for so many years and loved. And the band know and appreciate that. They don't realise what they are missing. Sad really. I'm sure the band just ignore them for what they are.2 points

Besides their side projects, The Who (really love them and I don't know how I would have ended up listening to them if it hadn't been through Green Day), The Clash, The Ramones, Rancid, Jimmy Eat World after seeing them live opening for them, and The Living End (also started thanks to a video of them opening for Green Day). There might be more I'm forgetting about right now I had no idea he was no longer involved with that Cafe2 points

Yeah, I saw PD support as well and didn't love them that much 🫣 Other bands Green Day has directly influenced me to check out: The Interrupters - not sure what the connection is here, but I definitely remember it being something to do with GD. The Replacements - after Beej talked about them once (Here Comes A Regular is still one of my face songs of all time).1 point

I love thatt (especially the ring holder, hehe) I forgot this thread existed lolll. Well, everyone is probably like "STOP TALKING ABOUT UR NEW GUITAR" by now lol, cuz I have posted it now three times, haha. Anywayyyy here it is From other post: I bought a new Epiphone today. I was trying to branch out from the Gibson-brand guitars (since I already have a Maestro Les Paul), but the guitar was too perty to pass up hehe https://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone/Les-Paul-Special-Satin-E1-Electric-Guitar-Heritage-Cherry-Sunburst-1500000014896.gc1 point

The Clash was another one for me after Mike had that restaurant 'Rudy's Can't Fail' (does he still part own that?), and named his son Brixton. 😅1 point

I think Mike probably has worn eyeliner quite often as part of regular stage/photoshoot/event makeup, just usually in a subtle not meant to be noticed way. Probably just a bit more added as he's older in the same way they all have more of that type of makeup now alongside Billie and Tre's bolder statement eyeliner/eyeshadow. Maybe more noticeable on this good quality video.1 point

Love what Ana Martinez, Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement about Green Day Quote: "Green Day's music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives." ❤️1 point

Don’t forget 3 Grammy nods, not to be sniffed at! You are right, they are having a great year. I am reading so much positive press about their Coachella shows and getting their star on Hollywood Blvd too, general feeling seems to be that it’s about time.1 point

I am so glad to see our boys winning so much this year. They headlined Coachella, nominated for iHeart Radio, won something at Webby Awards, and now this. AND the AMA's just yesterday (or whenever, I don't remember lol). So proud .1 point
