  1. Got my 3 day pass yesterday. Letting you guys know first. Breaking news. I will be staying at the Green Day stage the entire day to be as close to the stage as possible. Beer shall be a noble sacrifice. Water too, but who needs that…actually I’ll bring a water backpack. Let’s go September!!! P.S. I was going to write this in the “random Green Day thoughts” thread, but I saw this was already made ✊. Sometimes I forget I can make a thread too lol

  4. Don’t forget 3 Grammy nods, not to be sniffed at! You are right, they are having a great year. I am reading so much positive press about their Coachella shows and getting their star on Hollywood Blvd too, general feeling seems to be that it’s about time.

  5. I am so glad to see our boys winning so much this year. They headlined Coachella, nominated for iHeart Radio, won something at Webby Awards, and now this. AND the AMA's just yesterday (or whenever, I don't remember lol). So proud .

  17. It definitely looks cool. Now is announced that some bands will play whole records I'm very tempted to go. I mean, what a better deal than seeing Bad Religion playing Suffer and end up the week seeing Green Day playing whatever they want to play Besides, it would be an amazing gift for my gf that is finishing her studies. But is that or waiting for the southamerican dates... Let's see what happens

  26. Kind of what it says on the tin, but are there any bands or artists that you've gotten into or explored directly because of Green Day? Either they've mentioned them in an interview, collabed with them, mentioned them as an influence etc. etc. I'm always looking for more bands and artists to explore, so interested to see what people say. There are lots of my part but I'll start with a few: - Operation Ivy (fairly obvious, but through the cover and then exploring the original) - The Ramones - Rancid (Again, East Bay punk scene cited as influence). - Frank Turner (saw him support GD at Wembley Stadium in 2010 and he was awesome, been a fan ever since). - The Linda Lindas (watching them kill it last summer as support on the Saviors tour made me check out their stuff). There are many more, but those just to start!

  27. oh tons of bands, Foxboro Hot Tubs, The Network, The Longshot, The Coverups - oh no wait More seriously though, I'd say that although I had known of these artists previously, Green Day still helped get me more immersed in the likes of The Clash, Generation X, The Who, David Bowie and Tom Petty, mostly as a result of their live covers and talking about their influences in interviews. The Who in particular. It's always been my dad's favourite band and well, I guess the link to Green Day created some great bonding-through-music experiences He was particularly impressed with their A Quick One, While He's Away cover, as am I. The Who are a brilliant band. As my dad used to say, the quintessential rock band and I think I agree. It's hard to describe The Who as anything else other than a rock band, no further labels or qualifications needed. I think Billie must have got part of his flamboyant stage antics from them and Tre definitely seems to have taken inspiration from Keith Moon in some ways too. Though American Idiot (and 21CB) appear to be conceptually inspired by Tommy, which is a pivotal album no doubt, my personal favourite of theirs is Quadrophenia, which I think is a superb album. Truly a rock opera in every sense of the word. And the accompanying feature film is actually pretty decent too.

  28. The Clash was another one for me after Mike had that restaurant 'Rudy's Can't Fail' (does he still part own that?), and named his son Brixton. 😅

  30. I think you may be right. Just watched the download from @Yosuke Hanamura (thank you again) and I think there is a hint of eyeliner or maybe mascara about Mike! Well spotted, maybe for tv they all had to have. Also, you can’t see Billie’s moles on his cheek, so make up def there.

  38. I'm not a festival person, so I'm leaning towards no. Riot Fest is the only fest is consider going to, but there's not many others on the bill I really care about. If Jack White were on GD'S day I'd be more likely to. Hasn't stopped me from checking prices though...

  39. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/music/25-songs-with-hidden-meanings-nobody-noticed-for-decades/ss-AA1DjhSj?ocid=msedgntp&pc=DCTS&cvid=78ac01937b034b1d911eaffaa84fe07a&ei=23#image=25 This review looks at 25 nominated songs stating that they had a hidden meaning nobody noticed for decades. For the 25th song they've nominated Green Day's Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). Just in case link doesn't work listing other bands, here's the comment for Green Day. "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" – Green Day Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" is often played at graduations and farewells, celebrated as a song about cherishing memories. Billie Joe Armstrong, however, wrote the song sarcastically after a painful breakup, wishing his ex well but with a sting in the words. The acoustic sound and reflective lyrics make it easy to interpret as sentimental, but the underlying bitterness is clear if you pay attention. Released in 1997, the song’s dual meaning has made it a staple of both happy and sad occasions. The irony is that so many people have found comfort in a song that was meant as a goodbye, not a celebration.

  40. It's the smallest to biggest thing that just makes the most sense (ofc it *would* having used it all my life). But the day comes first as those are repeated (mostly) each month, then when in the year, and then if you're really confused the year itself. 😅 The one that always gets me with Americans is the time thing with the TV. Like when I see stuff that says it's on at "8/7 Central" - wtf does that mean? I get you have different time zones, but why are the numbers backwards??

  48. Messaged them asking about the decaf but they just directed me to Caruso Coffee’s decaf which is the local Ohio company that does their roasting now. If Caruso makes a decaf, why can’t they brand one for Punk Bunny? Eh, it’s all branding anyway but with a new roaster, there’s no guarantee even their other coffees will taste like they used to so it’s like starting all over again with a product. Even the roast descriptions have changed. Last Ride In was medium roast now it’s light medium. Soundcheck was medium dark, now it’s dark. Does this mean it’s different? Why give it the same names? Anyone have a brand they recommend that I can get in K-cups at the supermarket? I used to buy Tim Hortons so I’m not a connoisseur
