  1. Thank you for you kind and very true words: I'm just so glad to have found them! And this community of course!❤️ (Although I'm sometimes still angry with myself for doing this so late, where the fuck did I live not to notice them sooner??) But these days with new music coming soon and the Coachella pictures everywhere, I have to say that the feeling ist still getting more intense. I can't express how much I love this band... If this continues, I'll be a nervous wreck until the Vienna shows. 🤣

  2. Exactly this. When you find something during such formative years of your life, it really alters the course of your life, I think. My political views and just general values align so much with theirs that now when I read an interview them and love what they’re saying about the state of the world, I have to laugh because we’ve basically just gone in a circle. I love what they’re saying because they’ve influenced me for the better from a young age. And same with me too in taking a break from them — I couldn’t really divorce my identity from them even when not actively engaging because they’re just so a part of me. It is so cool and awesome that we were both able to get back into them and be able to enjoy such a fantastic time in their career and in the fandom. It has been such a joy to be part of it.

  3. There can't be many bands that have over 30 years releasing albums, that have attracted new generations of new fans along the way time and time again. I'm so happy for @stories and songs and @cris and many others of course. And if I'm correct more recently @Mollyluna, to find and have GD in their lives. I, like many others of course, have been with them at the start, but always made up to welcome anyone with love to GD land, whoever they are, wherever they're from. There's no barriers with music, it's universal for everyone. And we all love the bestest band ever of course.

  8. It's great that Green Day haven't had anything get in the way of them promoting Saviors. They've had bad things happens during the promotion of their last FIVE albums so they're smoothing sailing this time around is a real joy.

  9. I can relate to this so much! I also fell in love with them through AI, and had the same thoughts last year of "I am now the age they were when they released AI, and cannot imagine being behind something so monumental". And I also feel like that album was transformative for me, like this version of me now exists because I found that album, and through that album the rest of their music, their ideals and values, and the fan community around them. I do think I'd be a completely different otherwise. And even during my extended break from Green Day land, I always felt like this - even if I wasn't actively into the band at that time, I'd still speak about them fondly and of how they had impacted my life. I am also glad I came back and yes 2024 was such an amazing year to be a Green Day fan where I got to experience things I only ever dreamed I would but thought they'd never happen.

  14. Early April is what I consider my “Green Day-versary” and this year is a big one! My dad got American Idiot when it first came out and I was resistant to liking it at first — I liked heavier, darker rock at the time and felt like Green Day was too upbeat for me. But over the next few months and hours upon hours of listening to them in my dad’s car, they grew on me (or “wore me down” is probably the more correct phrasing ). I admired them so much for the political statements they were making and just thought they seemed like really awesome people. My parents eventually got me Shenanigans and International Superhits on CD and I’d comb through every word in the liner notes. I’d never really taken an interest in band members before and Billie really changed that for me, because I had so much respect for him and found him so talented. This is not the fangirl thread, but yes, I also found him impossibly attractive in all the ways. In early April 2005, I realized that perhaps Green Day meant a bit more to me than most bands. I’m now the age they were when they released American Idiot and it’s hard for me to wrap my head around all they’d already accomplished at this point in their lives, and how they created a timeless masterpiece in their early 30s. The AI-era version of them seems so young to me now. Part of me feels like I’ve loved them for 20 years, part of me feels like it’s been no time at all, and part of me feels like I was never even me before I found them. It is crazy to think they’ve been part of my life for two decades, but I’m so glad they have been, so glad I’ve gotten over breaks I’ve taken from them in the past, and so glad I’m here and they’re here and I get to witness them still doing awesome stuff like playing Coachella for the first time. I’m having more fun as a fan now than I ever have. What a ride.

  15. I think it’s a great sign we’re getting a deluxe. For YEARS this boys have been far behind on music promo, and this new era seems to have new management behind the scenes getting these videos, tracks, and social posts out there. It’ll also tie in nicely with their upcoming Coachella set, which you’d want new music prepared for. Whether you’re a fan of deluxe editions or not, it’s very commonplace these days in music and from a marketing perspective it does a lot to extend the otherwise short lifespan of an album in the current music landscape. That said, I’m happy the boys have a competent team behind them now, and it shows because we are getting FED! 🥳

  16. Oh no Green Day want to make money by releasing another variants and making new music 😥 they're so evil I guess they're the only band in the world doing music for cash 🫠

  17. Howard Stern asks Adam Levine about Early Influences If you have Sirius XM then the interview is on the app and the Green Day bit starts around 1:28:00. I roughly transcribed for those that don't. HS: Tell me about Green Day AL: They’re one of my favorite bands ever ever ever. It was the way they looked, how they played, amazing frantic amazing energy one of the tightest bands ever, like ever, ever. The songs were these melodic, super melodic songs, Billie Joe writes these amazing kind of sneakily sophisticated melodies. They sneak up on you. Everyone uses the same chords but there’s only so many use you can use...the melodies are everything. First of all his voice is one in a billion, he’s just got that voice…in the pocket the way he sings. I think there's so much more to them too. I think with them they are underrated because their songs his songwriting are some of the best ever, Really. HS asks if he's met Billie...if he knows the guys, have they hungout? Nicest guys...I know them all. The nicest coolest dudes…we’ve hung out...actually we're all on a Wordle thread... with the Green Day guys. Every morning we send our Wordle scores... how rock and roll is that? Everyone in the Green Day family...extended family. It's like a thousand people and then me....I don't know how I got on that thread. They're the coolest nicest sweetest dudes.

  18. The song isn't doing much for me. It's good and I'm sure it'll grow on me, but right now I lump it in with other songs like HCTS and Holey Toledo. Fine songs, but ones I ultimately forget even happened. I'm glad it wasn't on Saviors because it feels more like a FOAM track to me.

  27. The three Saviors album version releases, follow a similar pattern to AI, if I remember correctly. The Japanese AI release had a bonus track, and the digital deluxe release with 3 additional new tracks. Favorite Son, Too Much Too Soon, Governator, and Shoplifter, respectively. Imho, I thought the deluxe edition then was awesome and a great addition to the original. So with Fever added, I'm really excited about deluxe version. If the others are as good as SILB, this should be epic. GD, your spoiling us, again.

  29. It makes a lot more sense from a commercial standpoint to add these songs to Saviors than to release them as their own EP. Just add to the album's total stream count. While I don't like the idea of adding a shitload of tracks to a single album just to pad the stream count, I don't really have a problem with it as long as the tracks are added to the end of the album where they can be ignored if they're not as good as the rest of the tracks. Like, adding a bunch of filler nonsense and 30 second interludes all over the album would just make it a nuisance to try and listen to the whole thing. Besides, if the rest of the tracks are of the same standard as Smash It Like Belushi, I probably won't be skipping them all that much. Obviously, Smash It Like Belushi isn't the best track ever but I still prefer it over One Eyed Bastard and maybe 1-2 other songs on the album.

  30. I imagine they wouldn’t bother with these editions if it didn’t Just pre-ordered the CD version from Amazon and it’s $5 cheaper with free shipping and a release date arrival time FYI

  31. Sure! Here’s a Green Day-style punk rock song called “Bratwurst”, with a mix of humor, rebellion, and existential dread—classic Green Day energy: Title: Bratwurst By Green Day (if they wrote it) [Verse 1] Woke up late in a mustard haze Last night’s mess still on my face Couch’s burnin’, fridge is dead And there’s a sausage dancing in my head Mom’s still screamin’ from the lawn “Dad’s been gone since 91!” I light a smoke, I kill the pain But I smell meat, I’m not okay [Chorus] Bratwurst! Burnin’ on the grill of my regrets Bratwurst! Chokin’ on a life I can’t digest I never wanted this nine-to-five Just give me beer and a reason to drive Bratwurst! You’re the only thing that’s still alive [Verse 2] My boss says I’m a waste of time But I clock in just to rob him blind Stole a six-pack and his lunch A sausage roll, revenge in bunch My car won’t start, my friends moved on Still playin’ punk like it’s ‘91 But I don’t care, I still believe In backyard shows and burnt-out dreams [Chorus] Bratwurst! Sizzlin’ like the soundtrack of my youth Bratwurst! You’re the only thing that speaks the truth I never fit in their suit and tie I’d rather rot with ketchup in my eye Bratwurst! We were born to burn, not to comply [Bridge] No white picket fence No retirement plan Just a propane tank And a half-baked band We’re the misfits, freaks, the grill-stained crew If life’s a cookout, we’re overdue [Final Chorus] Bratwurst! Charred and scarred but still delicious Bratwurst! My punk rock meat, my soul’s nutritious I’ll never sell out, I’ll never be tame Just bury me in flames and call my name Bratwurst! You’re my anthem, my middle name [Outro] Bratwurst… And a side of existential shame. Want me to turn it into a full demo-style song with chords or melody references too?

  33. Every song on Saviors has a similar style visualizer video. I don't even think it's a "single", it's just a Deluxe pre-release track and they're not gonna make much money off of it at all. They didn't give an announcement for the song's release prior to releasing it, they just released it alongside the announcement of the Deluxe album. Idk what point you're trying to make. The band hasn't said anything about the song, they announced it on social media and YouTube and even there they didn't make any statement about the quality of the new tracks but also even if they did, they're not gonna say "Yeah these tracks are pretty mid. Listen if you want". They're trying to promote a deluxe version of their latest album.

  34. Yeah, in 2025 you really don't know what you're going to get from this band when it comes to b-sides (let's call them b-sides for argument's sake). It does feel like their b-side golden age was between Nimrod and American Idiot, but maybe that's just an age thing. Sometimes you get an absolute HEATER like Holy Toledo, sometimes you get absolute trash like HCTS. This one falls towards the latter category I'm afraid. Not total dogshit like HCTS, but an instantly forgettable song IMO.

  35. I can only speak for myself but my issue with Here Comes The Shock was that it doesn’t pass the “does this song have discernible subject matter” test, which frankly I don’t think is that high of a bar. Coming after Father of All, it came off as lazy and low effort. I get they were in their “off the cuff” mode of operating but I want them to give a little bit of a fuck, y’know? Not every song has to be Jesus of Suburbia but I don’t think it’s too much to ask to be able to tell what the idea being conveyed in the song actually is. Pollyanna and Holy Toledo were much better in that regard so I didn’t get fussed about them. I thought Smash It Like Belushi sounded vaguely familiar and I just placed it: Clampdown by The Clash. I love how they wear their influences on their sleeves.

His black hair really suited him and I'm so sad its gone 💔 The kerplunk/dookie era was also one of my faves !! If i had to rank i'd be 1. American idiot 2. Kerplunk/Dookie 3. 43. Nimrod and Warning are my favorites. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan in Nimrod era. On the other hand, Warning was my first era as a Green Day fan. Love the art, covers (including singles/Eps), artbooks, gigs (I mean, all the stuff I could watch from videos), etc. In 2002 I started to watch all the interviews/TV Appearances I could from 1997 to 2002 (I'm from Chile, and I started to learn English to become a teacher since that year). I loved to watch Muchmusic Interactive in 2000 or San Francisco show recorded for Mtv in Nimrod era. After those eras, 21stCB was so cool, amazing tour with killer setlist every gig (My first GD show was in 2010 in Chile and it blew my mind), many live/singles releases (although the singles were not good choices, except 21 guns and 21stCB) and Saviors has been a cool era, too.

  44. American Idiot, but I have a bias for everything pertaining to that era, so 🤷‍♀️ 21CBD was also a good one. And Saviors? It's like a more cheerful version of AI, switching the red for pink and tuning down the eyeliner
