Sorry to miss the watch party but I didn’t know it was in this thread. I posted in the show thread wondering where everyone was. I feel silly 🫠 I agree with those who said this was an amazing show, I can’t believe how tight they sounded. Just spot on perfect performance. Bobby Sox was the best I’ve ever heard it. And it is truly mind blowing how they can play an entire set of hits like they do. That’s how you do Coachella

For as small as the rock genre has become over the years, I think it says a lot about these guys’ showmanship that they not only rock a crowd of that size that hard, but to headline it this many years into their career is crazy work. They may not be the very top of the bill, but god damn for as many forces that are pushing back at them, they are soaring over that shit. Well fucking done, can’t wait for next week too!!

I may complain about Green Day's setlist but damn they never disappoint. They are just phenomenal on stage. That was such a great show! Even with the minor sound issues they were amazing. Hoping they throw in some different songs next week but either way I know it'll be a great time.

The band is getting a lot of positive reviews on the main Coachella thread on the Reddit page. A lot of people are hearing the band for the first time in years on there. So ya love to see it!

I know a standard festival setlist isn’t especially exciting for those of us who follow them closely, but keeping in mind this crowd likely largely hasn’t seen them perform before, this is a super impressive set of hits. And they’re playing EXTREMELY tight tonight too

These big festivals you have to do it strategically, not to sound technical or business like, but it’s got to be a good mix of hits and casual fan songs. They’re not likely to do the usual Coachella shtick of having a guest up there so they have to kill it and I think it went really well. You start adding deep cuts and you can plummet quickly at these things

Setlist aside, this is the most energetic, well performed show these boys have had in a long while. The energy in that desert looks amazing!

I've not seen any Coachella videos so I don't know how good the set was, but this part of the review surprised me: 'In lieu of added staging or guests (a little of friend and occasional co-performer Billie Eilish would have gone a long way), Armstrong relied on classic rock concert tricks for audience engagement.' I'm so glad Green Day don't usually bring random celebrities on stage. I know festivals are different and the Coachella crowd must be a difficult one, but Green Day are still considered one of the best live bands in the world - they don't need a celebrity appearance to engage the audience. And it's cool that they give fans the chance to have the best nights of their lives on stage, rather than giving some other musician publicity. I also don't really understand how that would improve a shit performance 😂
