  1. What a strange turn of events this has been!!! First we get the Devil May Cry tease with the Green Day song crossed off on the CD (it ended up being American Idiot) only to find out they really are releasing new music!!! I wonder if the band themselves are behind the Devil May Cry prank as it was around April Fool's Day!!!

  2. Although Smash It Like Belushi sounds more FOAMish than other Saviors songs, isn't it fascinating how much difference a production by Rob Cavallo makes? That's a whole different level to all the songs on FOAM.

  3. Finally . I thought i was the only one who got that kind of vibe . Before FOAM , yeah it's just average. Funny thing is when that song was released i was hoping they would go back to revrad or trilogy formula for their next album. But when foam happens i said "I forgive you Back To The U.S.A. song " 😅 Dessensitized, Suffocate, Favorite Son, Too Much Too Soon, Hearts Collide, State of shock (Even tho it's a demo) would like a word.

  4. With all the shit that's going on in the world, it's a welcome distraction, to escape and come on here and discuss a new GD song, and smile again. We're always gonna disagree on each song's merit's, that's cool. What never ceases to amaze me, is Billie Joe's awesome song writing skills. What an amazing talent he has, please don't stop. As for generating more income, I'm no expert in how this works. I can only guess the record company has to recoup it's costs and make profit of course. I remember times in the 90's when band gave up some of their income to offset ticket costs for fans at live performances. They're always promoting charitable events, and performed additional live events at small venues. And there's the Coverups live shows of course. Can't see them making much from those. Will never forget how lucky I was to be in the right place at the right time to see them live at a small pub in London. As always, from the early years and as now, it's about the fans , you and me, they just want to play their music and share it good or bad, what more can we ask. What was it Mike Dirnt said, "Listening to Green Day is like sex. when it's good it's really good. when it's bad, it's still pretty dam good. " 😁

  5. Breaking news: Professional musicians want to make money! There’s virtually no money in streaming, which is why physical media is pushed so hard by record labels today. There’s a deluxe edition of most albums these days along with tons of vinyl variants for a reason. It’s a standard industry practice at this point. Anyway, I’ve been around Green Day long enough to know a lot of their b-sides are just okay. And that’s fine. They’re just very good at curating what goes on their main albums. I’ll never be mad at getting more Green Day than I expected.

  6. I know it's simple but man this song slaps! It's so catchy, I've been listening to it a lot. We've come a long way from Here Comes the Shock.

  8. I like the idea of extending 'saviors' era. It feels cohesive while you're still touring, and of course you give fans something between records. I feel like '21st century breakdown' era when we had idk 23 new songs to listen. Thinking about that, i think FOAM would benefit a lot from a deluxe edition.

  17. Howard Stern asks Adam Levine about Early Influences If you have Sirius XM then the interview is on the app and the Green Day bit starts around 1:28:00. I roughly transcribed for those that don't. HS: Tell me about Green Day AL: They’re one of my favorite bands ever ever ever. It was the way they looked, how they played, amazing frantic amazing energy one of the tightest bands ever, like ever, ever. The songs were these melodic, super melodic songs, Billie Joe writes these amazing kind of sneakily sophisticated melodies. They sneak up on you. Everyone uses the same chords but there’s only so many use you can use...the melodies are everything. First of all his voice is one in a billion, he’s just got that voice…in the pocket the way he sings. I think there's so much more to them too. I think with them they are underrated because their songs his songwriting are some of the best ever, Really. HS asks if he's met Billie...if he knows the guys, have they hungout? Nicest guys...I know them all. The nicest coolest dudes…we’ve hung out...actually we're all on a Wordle thread... with the Green Day guys. Every morning we send our Wordle scores... how rock and roll is that? Everyone in the Green Day family...extended family. It's like a thousand people and then me....I don't know how I got on that thread. They're the coolest nicest sweetest dudes.

  18. Use this thread to talk about the new Saviors stuff coming out. I just saw that there were threads for individual stuff, not the entire thing, however. Email from GD Thought the Saviors fun was over? WRONG. No signs of slowing down here !! Enter Saviors (édition de luxe), dropping May 23rd. The deluxe includes 5 brand new songs: “Smash It Like Belushi,” “Fuck Off,” “Ballyhoo,” “Underdog,” “Stay Young,” and acoustic renditions of “Suzie Chapstick” and “Father to a Son.” We also have TWO new vinyl variants for you... pink with white splatter + clear with pink splatter - both 2 LPs/double gatefold with some new artwork! Andddd there’s even some new pieces of merch too. Pre-order the édition de luxe + stream "Smash It Like Belushi” now. Can’t wait to see your faces in the desert this weekend for Coachella!! We’ve got a few more tricks up our sleeves the next few weeks (as always), stay tuned.

  27. Yep, I was listening to music on Spotify when it said that there was a new track out. I caught it early, too. It was like 8 minutes old loll. I was laughing because I was like "...well that's random..." I love it tho ❤️

  30. I think it’s a great sign we’re getting a deluxe. For YEARS this boys have been far behind on music promo, and this new era seems to have new management behind the scenes getting these videos, tracks, and social posts out there. It’ll also tie in nicely with their upcoming Coachella set, which you’d want new music prepared for. Whether you’re a fan of deluxe editions or not, it’s very commonplace these days in music and from a marketing perspective it does a lot to extend the otherwise short lifespan of an album in the current music landscape. That said, I’m happy the boys have a competent team behind them now, and it shows because we are getting FED! 🥳

  32. Oh no Green Day want to make money by releasing another variants and making new music 😥 they're so evil I guess they're the only band in the world doing music for cash 🫠

  33. Stay Young could take a part from Too Young (or maybe even Stay from the Sweet Children Demo) and we would never know

  34. Well, making money off of their music is kinda their job, whether you like the music or not. 🤔

  35. Could that be a good sign that GD continues working with Rob Cavallo? On Apple Music, Rob is listed as producer for the new songs

  36. I really enjoy this song! At first I just thought it was okay-ish, but it's grown on me the more I listened to it. It's just what a B-side should be, I dig it The song in Devil May Cry was American Idiot.

  40. I am not a friend of deluxe editions and for years I was happy that Green Day didn't jump on that train. To me, an album tells a story from start to finish. And with deluxe editions, they (mostly) just add a mediocre epilogue to a finished story. Rant over. But glad we get some more Green Day music
