  1. Oh no Green Day want to make money by releasing another variants and making new music 😄 they're so evil I guess they're the only band in the world doing music for cash 🫠

  2. Breaking news: Professional musicians want to make money! There’s virtually no money in streaming, which is why physical media is pushed so hard by record labels today. There’s a deluxe edition of most albums these days along with tons of vinyl variants for a reason. It’s a standard industry practice at this point. Anyway, I’ve been around Green Day long enough to know a lot of their b-sides are just okay. And that’s fine. They’re just very good at curating what goes on their main albums. I’ll never be mad at getting more Green Day than I expected.

  3. In addition to not being politicians or political activists, they’re also not a nonprofit lol. I’m not sure why people act scandalized when artists have expensive tickets or claim merch and vinyl variants are a ā€œcash grab.ā€ No shit, this is their job. You can love what you do and still not volunteer to do it for free. Listeners can have Spotify for free or listen on YouTube. As fans, no one is holding a gun to our heads to buy anything from them. But a lot of time and resources and therefore money goes into recording and touring. And the guys put their own money into the Saviors-era music videos. So that has to be earned back somehow. It’s a business like anything else.

  4. Every song on Saviors has a similar style visualizer video. I don't even think it's a "single", it's just a Deluxe pre-release track and they're not gonna make much money off of it at all. They didn't give an announcement for the song's release prior to releasing it, they just released it alongside the announcement of the Deluxe album. Idk what point you're trying to make. The band hasn't said anything about the song, they announced it on social media and YouTube and even there they didn't make any statement about the quality of the new tracks but also even if they did, they're not gonna say "Yeah these tracks are pretty mid. Listen if you want". They're trying to promote a deluxe version of their latest album.

  5. These songs were very recently recorded for the deluxe and are not leftovers tracks from the Saviors sessions.

  6. Well, I like the song. It makes me happy, and Iā€˜m even more happy that there are more songs to come. Iā€˜ve also ordered the vinyl de luxe because that’s another thing to look forward to. If someone doesn’t like the song or the offer of a de luxe version, well there’s no obligation to buy it… And I don’t need Billie to criticize politics all the time. In times like these just a happy sounding new song is enough to lift my spirits and get out of the misery of the daily news.

  7. Well, making money off of their music is kinda their job, whether you like the music or not. šŸ¤”

  8. I think it’s a great sign we’re getting a deluxe. For YEARS this boys have been far behind on music promo, and this new era seems to have new management behind the scenes getting these videos, tracks, and social posts out there. It’ll also tie in nicely with their upcoming Coachella set, which you’d want new music prepared for. Whether you’re a fan of deluxe editions or not, it’s very commonplace these days in music and from a marketing perspective it does a lot to extend the otherwise short lifespan of an album in the current music landscape. That said, I’m happy the boys have a competent team behind them now, and it shows because we are getting FED! 🄳

  10. Okay, sure. But what would you have them do? They're not political activists or politicians. They're a band. An American band working within the capitalist system. So they make money off of their music, their performances, and advertising. Even if they were 100% against capitalism, they'd still live in this system and as such would ever have to dance to the music like they already do. Also, they're a bunch of silly guys in their 50s. I honestly don't know what you expect them to do.

  11. Howard Stern asks Adam Levine about Early Influences If you have Sirius XM then the interview is on the app and the Green Day bit starts around 1:28:00. I roughly transcribed for those that don't. HS: Tell me about Green Day AL: They’re one of my favorite bands ever ever ever. It was the way they looked, how they played, amazing frantic amazing energy one of the tightest bands ever, like ever, ever. The songs were these melodic, super melodic songs, Billie Joe writes these amazing kind of sneakily sophisticated melodies. They sneak up on you. Everyone uses the same chords but there’s only so many use you can use...the melodies are everything. First of all his voice is one in a billion, he’s just got that voice…in the pocket the way he sings. I think there's so much more to them too. I think with them they are underrated because their songs his songwriting are some of the best ever, Really. HS asks if he's met Billie...if he knows the guys, have they hungout? Nicest guys...I know them all. The nicest coolest dudes…we’ve hung out...actually we're all on a Wordle thread... with the Green Day guys. Every morning we send our Wordle scores... how rock and roll is that? Everyone in the Green Day family...extended family. It's like a thousand people and then me....I don't know how I got on that thread. They're the coolest nicest sweetest dudes.

  14. Until the stock market crashes their 401k’s and then it’s ā€œsave capitalism!ā€ Seriously will Green Day ever get past the accusations of ā€œsell outsā€?

  15. This is no different to things they've done in the past. Fire Ready Aim and Here Comes The Shock made for the NHL, Holy Toledo and The Forgotten released as singles alongside movies they appeared in, Know Your Enemy in WWE, 21 Guns in Transformers, Green Day: Rock Band. Promoting your music and making money is apparently bad now. I've not seen the band do anything egregious. Deluxe albums are things pretty much every artist does nowadays, you don't have to buy them. The songs are all gonna be available on streaming anyway. If you bought the original album, no one's forcing you to buy it again. How many people even listen to the physical CDs & Vinyls that they buy, people usually buy these things to add to their collection while they listen to the album on streaming where it's much more convenient. "They use to talk about politics but now they keep their mouths shut... except for when they don't" Lights Out

  21. I can only speak for myself but my issue with Here Comes The Shock was that it doesn’t pass the ā€œdoes this song have discernible subject matterā€ test, which frankly I don’t think is that high of a bar. Coming after Father of All, it came off as lazy and low effort. I get they were in their ā€œoff the cuffā€ mode of operating but I want them to give a little bit of a fuck, y’know? Not every song has to be Jesus of Suburbia but I don’t think it’s too much to ask to be able to tell what the idea being conveyed in the song actually is. Pollyanna and Holy Toledo were much better in that regard so I didn’t get fussed about them. I thought Smash It Like Belushi sounded vaguely familiar and I just placed it: Clampdown by The Clash. I love how they wear their influences on their sleeves.

  22. Usually on this deluxe versions contain live version of songs. Wondering if those "tricks up" could mean a saviors live album. I hope ā˜ŗļø

  23. With all the shit that's going on in the world, it's a welcome distraction, to escape and come on here and discuss a new GD song, and smile again. We're always gonna disagree on each song's merit's, that's cool. What never ceases to amaze me, is Billie Joe's awesome song writing skills. What an amazing talent he has, please don't stop. As for generating more income, I'm no expert in how this works. I can only guess the record company has to recoup it's costs and make profit of course. I remember times in the 90's when band gave up some of their income to offset ticket costs for fans at live performances. They're always promoting charitable events, and performed additional live events at small venues. And there's the Coverups live shows of course. Can't see them making much from those. Will never forget how lucky I was to be in the right place at the right time to see them live at a small pub in London. As always, from the early years and as now, it's about the fans , you and me, they just want to play their music and share it good or bad, what more can we ask. What was it Mike Dirnt said, "Listening to Green Day is like sex. when it's good it's really good. when it's bad, it's still pretty dam good. " 😁

  26. I think deluxe albums come out relatively quick these days. Linkin Park’s new album dropped in November and their deluxe album is coming out in May. Looking at a totally different genre, Sabrina Carpenter’s new album came out in August and the deluxe came out in February. Six months to a year seems pretty standard with the artists I’m familiar with, and Saviors is (somehow) more than a year old already.

  33. This really fits with Here Comes the Shock and Holy Toledo in terms of lyrics and sound. Doesn’t sound like it fits on Saviors. Maybe another in-between song made before the final Saviors sessions?
