Thought it was really cool that MCA from the Beastie Boys showed up. He liked the show. But that show got kinda out of hand because kids were jumping off this balcony that was as high as this roof onto the crowd. I don't mind stage diving, just as long as people are courteous of others. If there's 5 or 10 people standing around and they're not packed together and a guy just jumps on them and lands all of his weight on one guy's neck, that's wrong, or a girl's neck for that matter. I would say 60/40 the girls have taken the bulk of the landings on this tour. It's pretty brutal. Like 5" tall, 20 lb girls in the front catching these 200 lb dudes jumping out. And this guy who was jumping off the top was like 180 lbs. He jumped off twice and the second time he jumped off he knocked himself out. He was out cold. He was literally passed out. Everybody got out of the way, he hit the ground and they had to drag him outside. It was like, you're an idiot. ...If there's a fight, if something like that happens we stop. Actually we stopped when they found him. Because the guy was an idiot. I mean, you shouldn't jump from that high. And this crowd was spaced out too. It wasn't like completely packed.' – Mike Dirnt --------------------------- 3 April On this day in 2017, Green Day played the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA on the Revolution Radio Tour. You can see me on the left in that photo (the pink hair) and I look so bored I definitely wasn't because that was an amazing show. More photos on the GDA Tumblr On 3 April 2013, Green Day played the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, PA on the 99 Revolutions Tour. This was also an amazing show It wasn't a cold day, but the street where we had to queue was like a wind tunnel. Someone bought an overpriced university blanket and we kept huddling together underneath it. I was insistent that I was fine despite being concussed from Pittsburgh but everyone kept telling me I did NOT look fine. I probably wasn't, but I didn't care. A guy cosplaying Santa sang Know Your Enemy. In Holiday, Billie forgot the lyrics and put us in a 'trance' to repeat 'Billie Joe did not forget the lyrics to Holiday tonight.' I have a vivid memory of him waving an inflatable banana around. Stay the Night, Oh Love and Brutal Love were highlights. I prepared the posts for the time I was in LA before I left and as you can see, I forgot once I got home.

  5. The 21st Century Breakdown World Tour had quite possibly the greatest set list of any tour I’ve ever seen

  6. Nimrod and Warning are my favorites. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan in Nimrod era. On the other hand, Warning was my first era as a Green Day fan. Love the art, covers (including singles/Eps), artbooks, gigs (I mean, all the stuff I could watch from videos), etc. In 2002 I started to watch all the interviews/TV Appearances I could from 1997 to 2002 (I'm from Chile, and I started to learn English to become a teacher since that year). I loved to watch Muchmusic Interactive in 2000 or San Francisco show recorded for Mtv in Nimrod era. After those eras, 21stCB was so cool, amazing tour with killer setlist every gig (My first GD show was in 2010 in Chile and it blew my mind), many live/singles releases (although the singles were not good choices, except 21 guns and 21stCB) and Saviors has been a cool era, too.

  7. What if it’s this song? Also, wasn’t there a song title on the white board in one of the Making of Saviors videos called “On the Fritz” or something like that?

  8. For me, it has to be 21 Century Breakdown. The 21st Century Breakdown World Tour is Green Day's absolute peak in my opinion, and I love the entire era's look so much. (Also a lot of nostalgia for that era so I'm completely biased)

  11. Redacting AI when Rage is on the OST might be one of the worst marketing stunts in the history of any streaming service Maybe a deluxe track for Warning?

  13. Well that was disappointing!!! Why couldn’t they just say it in the beginning? It was the only song crossed off on the CD!!!!

  17. American Idiot, but I have a bias for everything pertaining to that era, so 🤷‍♀️ 21CBD was also a good one. And Saviors? It's like a more cheerful version of AI, switching the red for pink and tuning down the eyeliner

  19. 31 March On this day in 2013, Green Day played the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA on the 99 Revolutions Tour. Well, this was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to and it also gave me one of my best Green Day stories. I went to a few American shows on the 99 Revolutions Tour – Rosemont, this one and Philly. A girl sang Longview and when it was time for her to stage dive, Billie gestured for the crowd to put their hands up to catch her, but noticed that I was in the firing line and told me to cover my face. The venue security pulled my hands away and told me to put them up. Should have done what Billie said. The girl jumped awkwardly and landed boots-down on my face. There was blood everywhere, my glasses were broken, and security were fussing around me with ice and water. At first I thought I was fine and the staff were overreacting. Billie and I exchanged thumbs-up and the band started Basket Case. The next thing I knew, I thought I was in my bed at home, dreaming about seeing Green Day in Pittsburgh. I woke up in the first aid area with blood still gushing from my nose. A paramedic asked how I felt. I said I was disappointed I’d lost my barrier spot and asked if I could go back into the pit. She laughed and said that was what the last person said, but no, I was not going anywhere. I watched the rest of the show from the first aid box in a daze. Once the show ended, Eddie (the band’s head of security at the time and one of the loveliest people I’ve ever met) approached me with something and said, ‘Mike wanted me to give you this.’ It was the jacket he’d been wearing for the last few shows. Tre had also passed on a drumstick. I exclaimed, ‘really?!’ Eddie laughed and replied, ‘yes, really.’ I thanked Mike for the jacket on Instagram later and he replied, ‘you gals looked like you were having so much fun! Glad they got you my jacket! XX’ Everyone has always said they’re sorry I got knocked out but there’s no need to be. It was hilarious! I might have been gutted if the concussion had stopped me going to the next show, but I didn’t even consider it – the resilience of an 18 year-old determined to see their favourite band is quite something 😂 I even hammered the glasses back into shape and wore them for another year. The scar lasted a while but it’s gone now. On 31 March 2002, Green Day played the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. On 31 March 1998, Green Day played a second night at the UNSW Roundhouse in Sydney, Australia on the Nimrod Tour.

  21. Movie is wrapped https://www.instagram.com/p/DHyoOydJBGm/?igsh=bnllb2x6MHVyYThj So now post production followed by however they manage to distribute it. Hopefully we’ll get release information by the end of the year. I was thinking about road stories they could use. Because we know this is based on the band’s own exploits touring during the early years, what are some of the road stories we know about that could potentially make it into the film? — The most well know story of course is Sleepy the disembodied head in a jar they had to sleep near. — That time their van got broken into in New Orleans and their clothes and road cash was all stolen. Fans donated clothes and cash for them to get to the next town. — The IG gdtourvan1990 has loads of stories, pretty sure that account was run by Kiffmeyer https://www.instagram.com/gdtourvan1990?igsh=MTY0b2ZnN2U0cTBtOA== Anyone know any others?

  23. I’m obviously biased: I became a fan toward the end of the AI Tour. The 21CB era was the first one I actively followed (including here on the forum – I signed up in 2008). The hype in 2008/2009 was immense, and this forum played a big role in that. The sound, the voice, the songs, the album – 2009/2010 was the peak of their creative output, truly on top of their game. I remember losing it when I first heard the 21CB song demo in 2008 – I had it on repeat for days! When I think about the live concerts in 2009 and the summer of 2010 that I had the privilege to witness, it brings tears to my eyes because those are such beautiful memories, and I’ll always be grateful for them.

  24. Yeah super tough one. For the music I'd say Nimrod tour, this was a band that had truly found its sound and wasn't afraid to hide it any longer. The Nimrod era kinda went to the core of Green Day's sound, inherently punk but not afraid to push boundaries and experiment. And also most of all, it was about having a damn good time while you're at it. Admittedly though, live shows throughout the Trilogy tour (and towards the end of the 21CB tour) were quite fun and varied too. Aesthetically speaking, In hindsight, I actually think the RevRad tour had really cool stage production and visual design, kinda harking back to the 90s whilst keeping some of the quirks of post AI tours. But overall, my favourite is the American Idiot era and tour. I'm super biased, as AI is my favourite album, but what I loved about that tour and era was the "yeah, let's kinda take on the world and be the biggest band on earth for a while, cuz why not" vibe, reflected in everything from interviews, live performances, to stage design, outfits, merch etc. It's brash, pretty audacious and yet, it worked. BIAB portrays a band at the top of their game, they seemingly have the crowd and by extension the world in the palm of their hand, and they know it. And whilst I do like the 21CB era a lot too, I feel like AI era Green Day was particularly striking in how markedly different it was to preceding eras, whilst still keeping some of the 90s vibe. It saw them fully embrace concerts as a visual and auditory performance, well choreographed and polished from start to finish. But at the same time, most songs from Dookie/Insomniac/Nimrod were still played as a trio, with Jason White, Jason Freese or Ronnie Blake etc. only joining in for the new stuff. I kinda liked that. It kept part of their rawness. Live performances of those songs have since become more polished, since having two guitars adds a fuller, more studio like sound to the songs. That is also cool, but again loses a bit of the original energy and drive. The stage production too was certainly bombastic, but it was actually kept remarkably simple, with a black and red colour scheme, fitting Billie's stage and photoshoot outfits, with physical stage curtains being used most of the time. On the other hand, 21CB went all in with all kinds of visual FX, video screens and different colour schemes. More varied, less coherent. Certainly very cool, but then again, I feel less is sometimes more.
