  2. I cross stitched Drunk Bunny onto my hoodie. Right as I was finishing the last stitch, I realized I was finishing it on Billie's birthday.

  4. That... was a really special show. Not because of the setlist or whatever (although we did get One of My Lies, RevRad and a snippet of At the Library) but it was just one of those magical times. It was absolutely pissing it down - I'm returning to my hostel twice as heavy because my hair and clothes are so sodden - and that somehow made it even more surreal and magical. I got there at about 12:30 and I was pretty far out, in front of the screen, but I'm so glad I was there because I was surrounded by lovely Malaysian fans who were seeing Green Day for the first time and all that blathering Billie does about unity - I FELT it. I think we all did. Everyone around me was screaming the lyrics, jumping and waving, and whenever I looked behind me the rest of the crowd was going absolutely crazy. I felt like I was seeing Green Day for the first time again because of the vibes all around me. The bloke next to me was worried he wouldn't enjoy the show because he prefers Green Day's slow songs, but we had the same look of awe on our faces when we turned to each other after the show. I asked how it was and he replied 'it was AMAZING!' Agreed. Someone I met in Jakarta (not a Green Day fan, although I almost convinced her to come to the show 😂) asked if I actually remember all these shows and the answer is my expression as this show came to a close. I looked up as the rain was pouring and lightning was flashing as Billie sang Good Riddance, and there was just pure joy and wonder on my face. There isn't any deep story behind me deciding to come to KL. The flight from Jakarta was £30 and the city looked nice on photos so I went for it. I'd had so much bad luck and anxiety since I arrived that I regretted that decision - I was convinced the show was doomed - but wow. It was not.

  5. To answer this I decided to do research and count up how many songs from each album are in my GD favorite songs playlist. 21 CB/Warning tied for first and RevRad/Saviors tied for second…and the science is right, because those four are exactly what I would’ve picked as my favorite Green Day albums. I’d say the common theme between all four is the sharp writing. 21CB is so sweeping and ambitious, I love acoustic rock and so Warning has always appealed to me, and I love the mix of old and new sounds on RevRad and Saviors. The latter two are both just fun albums that really convey what Green Day feels like to me — warm, heartfelt, honest, and worried about the world.

  6. Savage lmao. That's going to trigger some people. Although out of all the horrible things people say about him on Instagram that was pretty tame and probably doesn't warrant that level of response . Edit: The entire comment section is right wing trash so actually can't blame him for responding to one of the random digs

  7. Nimrod is full of experiments (just look at the songs following it, a ska influenced song with horns about cross dressing and an acoustic string laden ballad), this is just another song where they tried something different on there. Extra angry and aggressive song with some screaming/growling. Check it out live, Billie does the growls well Also reminded me of how insane Platypus is live, he really gets into it! Even pushed the camera man. The two angriest Green Day songs

  13. Thanks to Arica Pelino for her footage and Shayne Stacy for digitizing this classic material. See the caption in the video for more info. This is just a teaser. Arica gave Shayne hours and hours of videotapes of East Bay bands including lots of never before seen Green Day material from her personal collection. With permission she is now sharing her stuff with fans for the first time! I’m starting this thread and will add to it as more stuff gets uploaded. In the meantime enjoy this small backstage clip from the Phoenix Theatre in 1991 and subscribe to Shayne’s channel.

  16. I think it was because of the rain. Not sure but I saw the stage was a big puddle on the catwalk so maybe not safe?

  18. Does anybody know what show this photo is from and what kind of shirt Billie is wearing in this photo?

  19. hot take, but probably father of all, the trilogy, or warning. Warning is good okay but its just very moderate in the middle (besides misery) but maybe its just not grown on me enough. Father of all just comes off as trying to hard but its not all bad and the trilogy just feels filler or really hard attempts at mainstream pop rock. No completely bad albums though

  20. I mean, Brendon Urie used to do Slayer screams in his concerts... Sometimes a little heavier sound is just fun
    1 point
  21. I wouldn't say metal, just heavier punk. And it is more on the growling side, maybe not full-on metal screaming. I've heard way heavier stuff than "Take Back" lol. That's just how they did the song. It's kind of a pointless topic... new Green Day fan? no shame if you are not at all.

  26. @BRAIN_STEW1039 @Christian's Inferno! Yeah some of the songs are excellent - GR, NGFL, The Grouch, Redundant, KFAD... but I never think "oh, I'll put Nimrod on" whereas I do for all other GD albums apart from FOA and the trilogy 😅.

  27. Happy birthday to Billieeee Same! Still the best songwriter, best frontman and best hair in music

  28. IMO, FOAMF because it's just really, really not a very good album. Like, at all. Especially when you factor in the consistently high quality of their other output. That whole period feels like a strange mid-life crisis fever dream of an experiment that really didn't work. The marketing. The artwork. The over-production. It's like if the NFL commissioned an album of tracks for their end-of-season montages. Even as a Foxboro Hot Tubs album it would be worse than Stop, Drop and Roll!!!

  30. So agree re Fancy Sauce, I love it.

  31. Fancy Sauce Fancy Sauce Fancy Sauce I just feel if it doesn't get played now during the Saviors tour, we'll never get it live, and it's such a great song and I have the feeling it'd play so well live. From past albums: I'm hoping they keep Forever Now. Brutal Love would be amazing. Scattered (or Redundant). Peacemaker (like Fancy Sauce, I always wanted to hear this live but it didn't get played during the 21CBD tour so I'm still waiting...although if 21CBD the song, or American Eulogy made a comeback, I'd be happy too). I also would love, love, love if they gave a bit more of love to Insomniac in this tour, after all it's its 30th Anniversary this year and such a great album, any song from it in addition to Brain Stew would be greatly appreciated. If they throw in any song from Kerplunk or 1039/SOSH at every show, that'd be great too.
