  1. I’m never going to get over the lack of a proper film of the musical with Billie in it. I love Broadway Idiot but it doesn’t give us the full performance, which we know he completely nailed.

  3. I remember Billie gave an interview after IHeartRadio and rehab were he was relatively open about how things went down. I'll try to find for you. If I remember correctly, some attempts were made to have him go to rehab before the whole thing exploded. And yes, Lazy Bones in retrospective was a very clear cry for help. The whole album - the whole trilogy actually - really feels a lot like that, a very broken and vulnerable mental health state that is trying to be kept hidden or "under control" by partying recklessly. Having revisited the trilogy after my return to the Green Day world, and after having lived a bit more during my time away 😅, I feel a bit guilty that I was so hard on it back then. Don't get me wrong, I'm still not a big fan of some of the songs in the trilogy, but I can understand it now and see where it was coming from.

  7. I don't see how it's misogynistic tbh. It's just about wanting to have sex, with someone he knows and is just as into it as him based on the first verse and the context of the album. There's the choking thing but that part is mostly just a play on the Rolling Stones song Miss Amanda Jones plus some people are into that. It was written as a joke for the American Idiot musical cast (because they used to get in a circle and say "it's fuck time" before performances) and as a Foxboro Hot Tubs song so can't take it too seriously. But from how Billie's talked about it I don't think he was writing about the sex stuff on the album flippantly, it sounds like he really felt he should be honest about having those thoughts/fantasies and dove as deep into himself to write it as he does with anything else (even if some might have come out a bit cringe). I can't remember where I heard him saying it now but it gave an interesting perspective on it.

  8. Can't say I'm excited about this just yet. The movie is still being worked on, so it's cool that other outlets are picking up on this, but not too much to report yet. I mean, aren't we still waiting for the American Idiot movie?

  10. I love thatt. I've wanted the red American Idiot sweater for so long but they have been sold out forever now. Speaking of forever now, I recently bought Rev Rad on CD. Now I finally have every studio album by Green Day on CD.

  14. Wow, that was really interesting. Thank you very much! And it was as I suspected: he obviously needed that meltdown to really feel the necessity of going into rehab. Nevertheless I see Lazy Bones as a cry for help, even if he wasn’t ready to accept it…

  15. Ah I see. And maybe he just wasn’t ready for rehab before the great crash at IHeart. Whatever, this song and its lyrics are touching me deeply…

  17. Hello! I‘m actually still listening to Dos. And following the lyrics, especially for Lazy Bones. To me this song seems like a pure cry for help. And I wonder whether back then Mike and Tre didn’t realize what state Billie was in to write these words. Maybe IHeart could have been avoided. But maybe they DID try to help and he didn’t accept it? We‘ll never know. People say that Dos is such a fun album. Yes, for the most part. But this song isn’t fun, and I love it even more for it. It just fits into these fucked up times…

  18. I got the pink Saviors tour football shirt! At the show it was £100 . I'd seen an allegedly signed one on Vinted for £400 lol, along with stuff like the £10 London patch for £75. So I thought getting it was out of the question. But I was looking at newly uploaded Green Day stuff as I often do and it was on there brand new for £50 and I couldn't resist. Totally gonna wear it to actually play football with my nephew and try and think of some other good times to wear it because it's the best

  19. Hey that’s me! I’ve been meaning to share it here but I haven’t had a chance to. In the pinned comment, I gave this forum & thread a shoutout as a lot of the content here made it into the video; also Bill, Hans, and Tim Chunks for what they have shared with us. I’m friends with the host poppincurbs, he isn’t super familiar with the GD gear lore like we are, and was stunned to see my Blue Fender/Frankenstein replica. It was really fun to lay all the correct information out, I hope everyone enjoys it! It’s definitely a long listen, and I also tried to explain everything on a non-nerd level everyone can understand.

  27. They MUST include Sleepy! Yep, Kurt U Up was the band name. Thought that project had sunk without trace, I hope they do have a cameo at least.

  28. Finally there’s some news about this. The casting call sheet says Green Day also star I wonder when they’ll shoot their scenes and whether it’s just a cameo. This seems like another semi-biographical Green Day story from Kirk, a twist on a biopic using a random trio to mirror their tour stories. Do you think they’ll include Sleepy, the head in the jar? 😜 Also I know it’s a poor pun of New Year’s Eve but I hope the title changes by release time because it’s awful. I recall Ordinary World also had a cringy working title of Geezer before Billie saved it with his song. Another thought, the premise of this also reminds me of Riding in Vans With Boys with these guys playing the part of Kut U Up (was that the band name?)

  29. Sassafras Roots. It's probably my favorite song on the record, yet it's not mentioned a lot whenever there's Dookie conversation. Maybe I'm just a sucker for those pop melodies, but I love that song.
