At the time of this article he'd already apologised. Pathetic fake outrage5 points

Green Day posted a video of them at the 7/11 in Pinole. Billie's mom was there https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAcAqMYujcP/?igsh=NGE4cWNmZHAybzVl5 points

And to add insult to injury, the baseball stadium in Las Vegas isn’t even built yet and is not going to be ready for three more years! But instead of keeping the team in Oakland until that time, they’re moving them anyway to a minor league ballpark in Sacramento in the meantime with artificial turf, risking injury and extreme heat issues for the players.2 points

I was at the SF show and after his little rant a girl next to me said something like, "Hey, I love vegas!" So yeah people get offended by his comments easily apparently2 points

Well, it appears Vegas radio station X107.5 has banned Green Day from their airwaves. How will they ever survive? This seems like an incredibly lame stance by the station, but whatever. I mean, Vegas hasn't been great for them with iHeart and Vegas taking two of Oakland's pro franchises. Thoughts?1 point

This kind of reminds me of the Steve Jobs one which also didn’t land well. Then his emails leak years later proving the guy was a literal piece of shit to his employees and he even worked deals with other companies to control the job market in tech.1 point

It would have been cool if like right after, they headed down to the school and performed a mini free concert lol. Again though, that would have been disastrous in terms crowd control and crowd size.. 🤣1 point

Why Are the Athletics Leaving Oakland? https://fhspost.com/9524/sports/why-are-the-athletics-leaving-oakland/ this article from 2023 explains some of the negotiations and how the the A's just dropped the ball and said adios Oakland for Las Vegas! After five years, A’s rejected a $12B waterfront ballpark site in Oakland for 9 acres on the Strip https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/after-five-years-as-rejected-a-12b-waterfront-ballpark-site-in-oakland-for-9-acres-on-the-strip I am from the Bay Area and have the same feeling Bille Joe does. the owner of the A's does not give a F...k. He doesn't care and nver cared to make the team profitable and fun. Hell his familly owns the GAP stores and are billionaires. There is money to be spent on players. They get 67 million from TV rights each year. I'm a life long Raider fan, so when they left again, after leaving for Los Angeles and then back to Oakland, I was like yeah that's Mark Davis for you. Just like John Fisher. Neither cares about the fans.1 point

Thanks! Damn Billie REALLY loves the East Bay1 point

This is the part where Billie was complaining about them taking the Raiders from him at the 2021 Vegas show😂 I totally get why he might want to complain after losing two local teams to the same place in such a short time1 point

I haven’t even been thinking about the Grammys, but I hope they get some recognition. Would be awesome if they had them perform in celebration of these milestones.1 point

Lol. Pussy ass bitches. I'd be mad a city too if two of my favourite things had relocated there purely for financial gain.1 point

And Clevelanders thought they had it bad with the Browns. I can't imagine losing everybody. Nuts.1 point

Thanks @pacejunkie punk and @JardyOfSuburbia, those were really clear explanations! And yes, I saw a person who is very passionate about baseball, but not from the bay area, and not a supporter of Oakland's teams, ranting about this in Instagram which is why I got curious about. Seems everyone who cares about baseball is pissed about this, which I understand now.1 point

The other thing that sucks about it is Oakland also lost two other major sports teams to other cities in the last 5 years (including another one to Vegas). That has to suck.1 point

I think Billie apologises to Vegas in the last frame of his Instagram post with pics from the Portland show1 point

It's a shame that Brandon seems to have matured over the years, because this would be a great way to get that Killers v. GD feud brewing again (even if it broke my teenage heart) 😄1 point

Vegas isn’t even a real city, it’s a bunch of casinos built by mobsters and billionaires with a city that grew around it to feed the beast. It’s fitting that we finally get high speed rail in this country and it’s a line from LA to Vegas to bring more people in to spend their money. Capitalism will always win1 point
-
How moronic lol. After he said that in his Letterbomb speech he was like “but anyway, I’ll take it down a bit” indicating he knew he was getting a bit too riled up in the moment lol. And he has a specific, valid beef with Vegas over losing multiple sports teams to them, so like…(also he’s correct, I hate going to Vegas for work lmao).1 point
