Look what I found! Funny thing is, I didn't see the coffee itself. @The Grohl This is at Ashland and Diversey.3 points

I think that's exactly right. I went to 3 more stores. Nothing. All had signage. No coffee. No cups. But I did strike up a convo with one of employees and he said they've ordered everything. It just hasn't arrived. He said they'll get cups, the brew ready to go, and small bags of roasts for purchase. He offered to make me a cup 🤣 He took down my number and said he would reach out whenever everything came in. Not sure if he will but it's very nice nonetheless. 🤞🤞🤞 I'll still check the store by my house since it's on the way home.3 points

On this day 7 years ago (28 August 2017), Green Day played in Mansfield, MA on the Revolution Radio Tour. More photos: 14 years ago (28 August 2010), Green Day played in Denver, CO on the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. This was the first time they played Cigarettes & Valentines and also the only time Billie played Olivia. 19 years ago (28 August 2005) was the second day of rehearsals for the 2005 MTV VMAs. More photos: The VMAs were that night and Green Day won seven awards. More photos: 26 years ago (28 August 1998), Green Day played Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands. 29 years ago (28 August 1995), Green Day played in Copenhagen, Denmark on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (28 August 1994), they played a second night at Lollapalooza in Mountain View, CA. And 32 years ago (28 August 1992), they played at Sproul Plaza in Berkeley, CA.3 points

My feelings are the same! I think Saviors is a really strong album and is their best material in a long time. It's focused, there's a good mix of high energy anthems and ballads, and Billie's songwriting is on point. Plus, I really like the commentary about life in the 21st century that's found here. It's a big turnaround from the fuck it let's party nature of FOAM. Saviors has great energy, it's all killer no filler, there's an urgency to it, and it's just a good time. It doesn't feel safe like RevRad or half baked like FOAM and that's coming from someone who likes both those albums. Put it this way, if I wanted a Green Day album to listen to that isn't any of the big three, I would reach for Saviors over RevRad or FOAM.3 points

Looks like a bandage with white gauze underneath. Like they put on you when you get blood drawn.2 points

Cool, so we've established - and not for the first time on this forum, I suspect - that music is subjective. ...Apart from FOAMF which is objectively bad.2 points

21CB is my favourite album but wouldn't Nimrod be the 3rd most commercially successful Green Day album? I mean, it has Good Riddance, it sold 10 million album copies and in terms of streaming, it's right up there with 21CB despite being a much older album2 points

Really wish they had done this for the European tour, or if they did I missed I it and that’s even more annoying!2 points

I really, really like Saviors. Is it their best album? No but I love all that Green Day have put out including FOAM and RevRad2 points

A lot of people do seem to hate RevRad but I think it's seriously underrated. There isn't a bad song on it. I mean, Bang Bang? Say Goodbye? Still Breathing? Too Dumb to Die? Forever Now? That's one of their best live songs ever, up there with American Eulogy and Homecoming. Some of the lyrics in Bang Bang and Forever Now are almost on par with 21st Century Breakdown, and that's coming from someone who thinks that's the best album ever written. Anyway, I'll shut up since this isn't a RevRad thread2 points

Saviors is a great record. To me it's similar in level to Revolution Radio. And I think the band themselves must love it because the are playing 5 songs from Saviors every concert which is a lot considering they are playing 2 albums in full.2 points

Just checked the second store and nothing. Just their regular coffees and no merch or display. I don’t know if there’s a difference between corporate stores and franchises or different markets. I know in Pennsylvania we have Wawa and Sheetz so no one gets their coffee at 7 Eleven they’re all crappy little stores1 point
-
I’m on my way to my little store I’ll check there Update: My store didn’t have anything, no coffee no display no nothing. Just checked and there’s another one a mile up the road I’m checking there now1 point

This was my thought exactly however, in terms of sales/streaming would it not be Insomniac?1 point

Osaka is sold out. The remaining tickets are for the two shows in Yokohama and one in Nagoya, but it seems that more tickets are left for Nagoya.1 point

I would consider it AI, Dookie, and 21CB. Those were big albums for Green Day, especially when thinking about mainstream appeal.1 point

I'm a bit sad I never got to see Green Day play through the American Idiot album in full live but as @solongfromthestars keeps reminding me I was lucky enough to see the musical cast version at the St James Theatre during Billie's run so I can't complain1 point

I can't believe it's this Sunday already. So far it looks like the weather is going to be gorgeous. We're having a heat wave now but Sunday it drops to the 70's1 point

@Laura! I guess we really should've waited to buy tickets, huh. ... also, I tried to tag Bruno. Is he still GreenDayOnABoat or did I make that up? Update: Ahh, he is alive! If you count last visiting in 2019 being alive. @GreenDay_On_A_Boat1 point

Somewhere Now/Forever Now > Jesus of Suburbia/Homecoming to me lol But Saviors is amazing. The production is absolutely incredible and makes it their most beautiful sounding album. The lyrics, the music, the combination of personal and social commentary themes done really well, the nice mix of classic GD sound, classic rock sound and some "new Green Day" sound. It's also a HUGE step up from Father of All Motherfuckers, really feels like they tried to be extra ambitious again and succeeded. I would say the only slight duds are Father to a Son and maybe the title track, everything else is straight fire.1 point

Saviors is their best since 21cb. First time they put a focused effort into an album since. As for lyrics, Billie’s lyrical style has changed over the years from more of a direct bold statement style to a small tagline and catch phrase that leaves more meaning in what is not said vs what is said. It’s clever in its own right. 21cb serves as a bridge between the two styles. It feels like the trilogy’s lyrics might have suffered from Nimrod syndrome where they were never really properly prepared or thought out before going into production. Billie suffered a lot mentally during the 21cb sessions and lead up to it. He was never the same after that imo. Then the band declined for years after as they cut corners to eliminate the pressures. Saviors is the first time they really revisited real studios and committed to the quality fans expect from the production side of things.1 point

On this day 3 years ago (27 August 2021), Green Day played in San Francisco on the Hella Mega Tour. More photos: 19 years ago, 27 August 2005, was the first day of rehearsals for the 2005 VMAs. This was the photo on Billie's Wikipedia page when I became a fan. I can't believe I actually remember that More photos: 20 years ago (27 August 2004), Green Day played Leeds Festival in England on the American Idiot Tour. Judging by the crowd photos from earlier in the day, it was a less muddy experience that year. More photos: 26 years ago (27 August 1998), Green Day played the London Astoria on the Nimrod Tour. I'm not actually sure if Bob Gruen's photos are from this show or the one in February that year, but whatever. 29 years ago (27 August 1995), Green Day played Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands on the Insomniac Tour. 30 years ago (27 August 1994), Green Day played Lollapalooza in Mountain View, CA on the Dookie Tour. More photos:1 point

They deserve to win this so much. It's such a well-made, honest and brave video🥲1 point

I still think Saviors is the more solid release since American Idiot/21st Century Breakdown. Maybe it hasn't got the focus of the world wide media/rankings, but it is a well made GD Record, IMO.1 point

Thank you! It was amazing! Yep and I sure was there! Spiritual experience for sure. I was going crazy during pretty much every song. Hearing Homecoming and Whatsername live honestly made my whole life worth living. I went with my Dad and was worried because I wasn’t sure if we’d be able to get tickets. We had to settle for “obstructed view” tickets, but the only obstruction was the net there for Twins games. We had an amazing view and overall a 10/10 night for sure.1 point

Green Day nominated for a VMA?! I wonder if they'll be there. This is something I haven't seen in a long time!! This takes me back to the good ol days of AI when Green Day made an appearance at nearly every award show.1 point
