Oakland Coffee sounded so much better than Punk Bunny Coffee. Even Pink Bunny Coffee would've sounded better. I guess they couldn't justify using their coffee company as a Green Day merch store without basically rebranding as "Green Day Coffee" though6 points
-
Yeah and it's lame because GD fans know it's called the drunk bunny not the punk bunny. And it's known for being covered in filth and dancing while intoxicated so not sure why they wanna associate it with a fresh cup of coffee . Must've got some marketing advice to rebrand I guess but it's pretty gimmicky and Oakland Coffee sounded much classier/more legitimate. But I don't even drink coffee so I'll be ignoring it.5 points

Agreed. Oakland Coffee was generic enough for anyone to try it. My sister bought it without even knowing it was connected to Green Day. What random 60 year old guy is going to try something called Punk Bunny coffee?4 points

On this day 3 years ago (17 May 2021), the Pollyanna lyric video was released. I've added videos to my list after all. 9 years ago (2015), Green Day played 924 Gilman Street as a benefit concert for the venue. There are more photos on the photographer's website. The KQED review is also still up as of now. 19 years ago (2005), Green Day played in Winnipeg, Canada on the American Idiot Tour. 30 years ago, they played in Mezzago, Italy on the Dookie Tour. They were also interviewed that day. And 32 years ago, they played a second night at the Royal Albert Arms in Winnipeg, Canada. Same poster as the post above.3 points

I was in a rush for new music after the last few records, but right now I’m not even thinking about it. I think I was in a rush before because the music wasn’t as satisfactory. Saviors is so good that it’s quenching my thirst and I’m enjoying it still months later. It’s honestly a great record. I’ll always be excited for new Green Day, but this is a quality product that will keep me happy and satisfied for quite some time, I think.2 points

I hate to tell you this but OG Gen X punks are in the late 50’s now and will be turning 60 next year. We still aspire to be edgy and this brand is an aspirational concept for people who want to feel like they’re living the rock and roll lifestyle whatever that means. “Drink the coffee the band drinks on the road” is aspirational. Younger people can’t afford this coffee if anything it’s targeting an older demographic Millennial and Gen X Compare that to Oakland Coffee which wasn’t aspirational. Do people aspire to live in Oakland? Is Oakland known for its coffee? No and no. It’s like selling Cleveland coffee or Detroit coffee. Local appeal only.1 point

It's just that I'm tired of Timmy. We have a Tim's every 5 miles in Québec. Their coffee taste like water, their foods are atrocious. Can't stand them anymore.1 point

I’m wondering if the company was struggling financially being so local. Suppliers of compostable packaging had to be expensive, plus the cost of using a third party roaster and they had extremely limited distribution and brand awareness. Unless you were a Green Day fan and knew it was their company or had some connection to Oakland there was no draw. They weren’t growing. Coffee is a competitive space and people are brand loyal. At first they even modestly kept the Green Day connection to Oakland Coffee very low key on the packaging and marketing but I think eventually they realized they had to lean in to that and use it if they wanted to sell it. But their customer base was still pretty finite. Now with this company they’ve gone all in on what’s needed to build a brand. Partnership with Keurig for packaging, sales and distribution, venture capital and investors, merging with a roasting company, a national brand identity, Green Day front and center on the packaging, eye catching and colorful, something I might actually see on store shelves outside of California. I hope it does well for them it’s not an easy business but at least this time they’re taking it much more seriously and trying to actually grow a company.1 point

Yeah I wasn’t gonna argue but I actually like Timmy’s. Husband likes Dunkin’ decaf though so I can easily go back to that when he runs out of the Oakland Coffee we still have. I was pleased to hear that the K-cups Punk Bunny uses now are new easy to recycle kind (the lid peels off easily). Sounds like Keurig is changing over to these for all of their brands but starting with Punk Bunny. I may try their Soundcheck at some point but I just don’t drink coffee that often and it’s not worth the shipping to order just for me.1 point

Not sure where you’re from, but Canadian Tim hortons taste way better than the American ones. Closest to me (Indianapolis area) is about an hour and a half fwiw1 point

Messaged them asking about the decaf but they just directed me to Caruso Coffee’s decaf which is the local Ohio company that does their roasting now. If Caruso makes a decaf, why can’t they brand one for Punk Bunny? Eh, it’s all branding anyway but with a new roaster, there’s no guarantee even their other coffees will taste like they used to so it’s like starting all over again with a product. Even the roast descriptions have changed. Last Ride In was medium roast now it’s light medium. Soundcheck was medium dark, now it’s dark. Does this mean it’s different? Why give it the same names? Anyone have a brand they recommend that I can get in K-cups at the supermarket? I used to buy Tim Hortons so I’m not a connoisseur1 point
-
The new website is up https://www.punkbunnycoffee.com/ First thing I notice is no more decaf. I hope there’s one coming or I may not be a customer anymore. It sucks too that they’ve gone back to the plastic pods. It was something I really liked about their product that made them different and worth spending more. I might be going back to supermarket coffee.1 point

You can pay per PayPal now, right? Finally I can order a few 🙏 Hopefully the Jersey Tré was wearing in one of the last shows will be in the shop1 point

What I always hate about these ''new album'' speculations is that they always start way too soon. They haven't even started the goddamn Saviors Tour and people are already guessing when's the next album coming out. It gives me the feeling that people never truly enjoy the albums they put out and get bored ridiculously easy. I for example have no desire for new Green Day songs right now, because the ones that they put out will easily carry over Saviors Tour and I can't get bored of most of the songs Saviors has. There can always be delays with albums that people don't consider. For example, I think it's time for The Coverups to release a cover album. Drain You definitely deserves a studio version and they could throw one-two Coverups exclusive songs there aswell. Then there is Foxboro that hasn't done anything since 2008 (assuming you don't count Dos! as second Foxboro album, 'cause I don't) and Longshot has been on pause for several years aswell. Green Day could also finally produce stripped down acoustic album, which Billie proved with his ''Welcome to my panic'' podcast episode that it could really work. They could also release B-side album again, with hopefully State of Shock getting better version and speaking of Trilogy, they wanted to put out some ''best of trilogy'' album. All in all, I hate new album speculations. This is not directed to one single person, just general statement.1 point

What do you want to see in the thread, just everyone posting fuck Islam and fuck Muslims and GD shouldn't play a Muslim country? The reason playing the show has been questioned is authoritarian government enforcing religious laws/censorship laws as well as human rights issues in the country. Nobody has denied that the government and religious laws are Islamic, I don't understand what else you want. If you think the reason they shouldn't play there is just that it's a religious country then they shouldn't play the US or many others either.1 point

Click through to the coffee and you’ll see a merch tab. It’s the white shirt with the bunny logo. I just hope they still offer a decaf in pods (or any pods) and it’s still as good as Straight Edge/West Grand were.1 point
