OK boomer . There's always been shitty music and good music around. Always been usually pop at the top of the charts going all the way back to the 50s.11 points

This might be a bit premature, maybe stuck in the honeymoon phase...but this just might be my favorite Green Day album. It has everything, short punchy songs, some songs that punch you in the heart, and some very relatable ones like dealing with depression and substance abuse all crammed into 45 minutes.8 points

I can’t believe how little reaction there has been to this! I have been away for a hen weekend and had no free time so just catching up but come on, who expected to see video of BJ tattooing his own thighs! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️8 points

Can you stop about "dogshit rappers and shitty pop"? We get it you don't like this music. But some people do.7 points

HOLY SHIT I WON MY 2ND SAVIORS CD FROM MY LOCAL ALTERNATIVE RADIO ASDFGHJKL7 points

Seriously, you're really just starting to get fucking annoying here. Can you please just shut up about pop/rap music. It's really god damn tiresome It's honestly really fucking stupid if vinyl doesn't count towards the Billboard 200 anymore. Like, why wouldn't it? That's just going to demotivate artists from releasing Vinyl if it's going to harm their CD sales which do count towards the chart performance (EDIT: Realized that it's indie sales that aren't counted, not vinyl specifically. But still that's dumb)6 points

Wait! It’s crazy there’s an album titled “American dream” in the number one spot! It’s killing saviors!6 points

in the 90s and 2000s there was lots of pop artists who regularly beat rock acts like green day in the charts, its not a generational thing. There are lots of Gen Z rock and punk fans; there are more music choices these days, too. This album was never going to outperform streaming with the wide age fan base Green Day has who may prefer physical media. Also while this is an amazing album, its not as clear cut great as AI was, when they was at there height.5 points

I finally recieved my Hot Pink Galaxy vinyl! This time it didn't get stolen at the warehouse 👀5 points

Well, those numbers are not completely fair. The record sold 10.390 copies that are not counted on the Billboard chart, from indie stores: https://hitsdailydouble.com/indie_vinyl_sales5 points

Don't worry, coach. I've got it looping on my laptop and when I drive home, I'll blast Fancy Sauce for 45 minutes straight. Then I'll start looping again. Looooooooooop4 points

I wake up every morning with this song in my head. Especially the lyrics, "Do you want me to just go away? I just wanna be your nobody Is there any chance that I can stay?" Heartbreaking.4 points

Wow Billie's got some nice gams! I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I stumbled across those videos. I was like BILLIE!!! YOU"RE SHOWING OFF YOUR NICE LEGS?!?!?!? Are you TRYING to kill the fangirls?!4 points

Finally today I got my CD and vinyl. If I knew that I would have to pay 16€ taxes just because the GERMAN Warner Store delivers from Great Britain, I ordered both on Amazon 😅4 points

I watched MSG @ 2009 performance today and jesus christ how ridiculously fucking beautiful moment it was when Billie took a fan from audience during Are We the Waiting and just constatly hugged her. Fan was crying her eyes out. It was truly one of the best fan interactions I've ever seen.4 points

It would’ve been awesome to see them higher on that list, but #4 is still really good! I also thought this was an interesting tidbit: “Green Day’s Saviors starts at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 49,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, album sales comprise 39,000 (making it the top-selling album of the week).” Physical media is alive and well in Green Day world.4 points

wow FM4 seems more or less equivalent to SRF3 - I'd be so embarrassed if that kinda thing happened over here But it does go to show what I kinda meant with my earlier comment, which is that the biggest problem for the band right now is that the album is simply going unnoticed by a lot people. Still, no reason to complain, that doesn't make it any less good, quite the opposite really.3 points

One local radio station, FM4, just played OEB and the DJ played some snippets of Basket Case, WICA, BOBD and some unknown song (which I guess was played by accident) and she said that "the new album" (no title mentioned) will be released in 3 weeks and she's giving us "the first single" for free (like a present). I don't know what she was smoking but this is a huge radio station that usually focuses on indie music and stuff...I immediately wrote them a PM. But no wonder no single nor the album charted in Austria yet haha. The next chart statistics will be available tomorrow. At least there's no Schlager as #1...looking at you, Germany Edit: I have to correct myself. She said the next album could be as legendary as Dookie, American Idiot and Saviors...the whole clip is so inaccurate from start to end it's getting better the more I think about it3 points

His video was one of the first things I saw in the morning…nearly killed me! I was thinking he should have asked us for help, I could easily have held his shorts out of the way for him, made it a little easier. I’m good like that. 😉😉😂😂3 points

Lol I had a good chuckle at that. I mean the whole generation debate is a complicated one. Boomers are just holding wealth at this point and are no longer productive in the workforce. Still a huge market for any business to target though. Gen Z is suffering from following the steps of Millennials. Millennials lived in a world both with and without internet so Gen Z was disadvantaged not having the experience of disconnecting. Xers finally hold power positions now after years of boomers hogging them but for every X’er in this spot there is a Millennial close by bringing in new life to the processes. I don’t blame generational shifts for music issues anymore. I blame the major labels that use their resources to push shit. I blame IHeartRadio for broadcasting shit. In 2012 Billie Joe was not wrong, it was just unfortunate he had a substance abuse issue in conjunction with calling it out.3 points

Even though I really don't care about charts and don't see it as fair measurement for album being good or bad, Saviors debuting at #4 is dogshit.3 points

I feel like he sounds pretty great on a lot of the older songs from Irving Plaza? 2000 LYA, One Of My Lies. Sounds a lot stronger than the newer material3 points

GreenDayFM: “While Saviors couldn’t nab the top spot on the Billboard 200, it was in fact the top selling album in terms of pure album sales for the week with 39,000. As mentioned on Friday, the album did debut at the top of the UK album charts with sales of just over 31,000. Unfortunately for Green Day, they continue to perform poorly where it counts these days and that’s in streaming. For it’s first week on the Spotify global top album chart, the album would land at #135. The lack of significant streaming numbers to pump up their “album equivalent units” makes it extremely difficult to compete for the top position on the Billboard chart.” Stream as much as you can this week folks!! 🤘🏻3 points

There is. In 1981 - “We live the dream for fifteen minutes of fame” It was Andy Warhol that said in the future everyone would be famous for fifteen minutes3 points

This is absolutely the case at least a few times during the chorus. I love it, it's kinda funny to me.3 points

I'm going through all the Green Day stuff I've saved over the years for the GDA Tumblr and I found this – a screenshot of the booking screen for tickets to the American Idiot musical on Broadway. Random but there probably aren't any other screenshots of it floating around now. That was the first time I saw the musical and I still get the warm fuzzies thinking about it.3 points

I wish the band pushed a better single than OED and Bobby Sox. I think they could have put out a song like Coma City, 1981, maybe even Strange Days, and it could have generated some additional buzz, and definitely would be more radio friendly.2 points

Finally listened to this interview (I still have to watch the clips), but the takeaways were definitely Billie likes scarfs, Billie owns a sombrero, Billie goes to bed late, and Billie likes Fancy Sauce. All very vital pieces of information.2 points

As a lover of physical media myself, it also pleases me to see actual album sales. However, the problem is that other artists do so much better with streaming. Take this week’s chart for example, according to Billboard, 21 Savage only sold 1,000 albums compared to Green Day’s 39,000. Green Day was far and away the highest selling physical album of the week. However, 21 Savage was able to make up the difference and then some once streaming was counted. It’s a bummer. I bought 4 physical copies on release (2 vinyl, 1 cassette, and 1 CD), but I obviously can’t do that each week. I just hope people continue to stream in the coming weeks, as the physical sales inevitably start to fall off.2 points

I have only seen your post now, otherwise I would've responded earlier. I just uploaded all the lyrics I had on my hard drive of each album. The lyric books and deluxe books were scanned by me, some other stuff was scanned by me and some stuff I downloaded off the internet. Some booklet pages were deliberately left out since you asked for lyrics only basically and if you literally need the lyrics pages only I can crop the images and re-upload for you, just let me know). The things I have physically but not digitally: American Idiot vinyl lyrics scans (neither Gatefold version with lyrics nor the separate poster version) and Saviors booklet scans (the CD still has not arrived yet and since the vinyl has a poster like AI, I don't want to scan it because it's such a hassle with a A4 scanner). Since the lyric booklet, which was offered as a pdf for free, is so tiny I had to upscale the pages. So here's finally the link, I hope you can figure out a way to create a cool birthday gift (Edit) New link https://mega.nz/folder/cglmWIIS#6oAkOakxvIAmJKLCjZgs0w2 points

Whatever happened to the love for 21CB? It's the 15th anniversary of that album this year too. I get that Dookie and AI are taking the spotlight because they are the most influential album's and they are more impactful anniversaries, but it makes me sad that 21CB is getting left in the dust. Honestly, I would much prefer hearing 21CB and AI in full rather than Dookie. Or even Insomniac. Dookie has never really been that high up on my list of favorites and that's probably unusual, but that's how I feel. It's depressing that there isn't really a chance of hearing 21CB in full again until like 2029. I wish they could celebrate it this year. I'm so happy that I will get to hear AI live in its entirety, but 21CB is so special to me because it's the album that got me into Green Day in the first place. AI and 21CB together would be a real monster of a show. I'm not sure if the boys would be able to pull that off without completely exhausting themselves every night. Dookie's a pretty short album, but 21CB is up there in length with AI. That would be my dream concert, though.2 points
