  1. Hmmm…… GD likes to Rock a fella. Probably be good to take the subway. im sure whatever it is is totally secret and everyone with the band is sworn to secrecy. As nBc wouldn’t want a bunch of people showing up?

  3. Guys it’s becoming almost impossible to invent new melodies that don’t sound like shit. It’s a limited number and art always trives trough inspiration. i think there was a mathematician that created every possible melody and just gifted it to humanity. It’s not about inventing new music. I don’t now about you guys but I tried it and mostly it sounded like shit. art imitates life and life imitates art. its a cycle that never ends and always inspires new generations or projects. so I basically don’t get the hate for a song that sounds like another

  4. The best feeling in the world will be this friday. Headphone at work all day, listening to Saviors on repeat and talking on GDC with other fans

  6. IMHO is not a weird idea but a pretty smart one, cause that translated in a week of social media promotion by fans, reaching a way bigger engagement then any paid social media campaign could get at a way lower price. It’s also a sign that band and management believe in the positive reaction of fans to the record, a won bet since the buzz is extremely positive on every platform. Also no one forces anyone to listen to shitty phone recordings, I didn’t listen to a single one and I’m living a happy week of hype waiting for the record

  7. the hype is real this time. Promotion on point.

  8. Just going by the lyrics I find it interesting that Fancy Sauce ends the album on a pretty dark note. He typically prefers to end albums on hopeful notes it’s why See The Light and Ordinary World are album closers. This time he said fuck it.

  9. Thanks to the random user who give me the studio version of Bobby Sox and Coma City 😅

  10. The recycling melodies / rip off criticism is something Green Day has been getting for decades. Warning sounds like Picture Book by The Kinks. BOBD sounds like Wonderwall. American Eulogy sounds like Deadbeat Holiday. Lazy Bones sounds like Give Me Novacaine. It's impossible not to make songs that sound like other songs, whether they be previous GD songs or songs from other artists. In the case of TADIKM, I think the Basket Case melody is for sure intentional. It's their most popular song and released right after Dookie 30th anniversary album

  13. Just to confirm - as I've seen it a lot on this thread - "Coma" and "Comma" are very different things. Y'all want to hear a song about punctuation, listen to a Sesame Street album. 😆

  14. Well I’ve been trying to avoid listening until the album drops but it appears the band can’t contain themselves and have shared all of it so it’s all over my feed, sounds great! I don’t ever remember them seeing this excited.

  16. This is great news. The best album closers are darker in tone IMO. Whatsername, FOD, Prosthetic Head, to a certain extent Macy’s Day Parade.

  17. How has 21CB aged badly? Cause I honestly think it's aged so well. It is dated but no more so than American Idiot. Saviors is for sure going to be dated too with the references to social media and "Livin' in the 20s" which 10 years from now is obviously going to be seen as a song about living in the early 2020s. But being dated isn't necessarily a bad thing. The political commentary is just as relevant today and no Green Day album has gone this in depth in politics. It's always going to live in the shadow of American Idiot just due to AI being the first Green Day album of that kind but I think 21CB is always going to be considered one of the best Green Day albums outside of AI/Dookie and for good reason

  18. I was skeptical about Saviors at first listen, but now I can confirm it's the best they've done Since American Idiot. Billie sure wasn't kidding when he said it might be the best record they've ever done. And oh what a fking Closure song, best one since whatsername. The guitar solo at the end is just spine chilling. Can't wait for the 19th.

  19. I see a couple of reasons. Easier for most folk to go to the stores on a Saturday and it leaves time for the social media buzz we are getting this week and I’m just ignoring all the covers, recordings etc, haven’t (and won’t listen) to any of them. Also, if you have been listening to crap recordings, imagine how good the album is going to sound. I see it as a win win.

  20. The buildup for this album has been so exciting! Going all the way back to that “secret” show in Vegas a few days before When We Were Young last October. I feel like the promotion, etc has been handled perfectly, and that New Year’s Eve performance certainly didn’t hurt. Lol. So ready to stream this album 24/7 starting Friday AM!!! Just 3 days away!!!!

  21. I've had so many of the songs stuck in my head all week. Still say my faves are Bobby Sox, Living in the 20s, and Corvette Summer - something about that hook I fucking love.

  27. Really proud of myself resisting leaks and waiting for Friday. I’ve developed a lot of self-control this album cycle. I think mainly because we waited so long and I don’t want to ruin it early.

  28. Barring the already released songs and 1981 the teasers all sound instantly familiar, as if I've known those songs for years and they've been stored away in the back of my mind, but at the same time brand spanking new and awesome (as fuck)

  29. AHHHHH I kinda want to wait until Friday but the teasers are right there 🫣 Everything I've heard sounds amazing!

  30. Ah yes, Suzie Chapstick reminds me of Dancing In The Moonlight. Legitimately, One Eyed Bastard and Suzie Chapstick might be my favorite songs since AI. Somewhere Now is up there too.

  34. I think the listening parties were genius personally. I’ve been listening to the album on repeat since via the recording I have, and all I can think about is how it’s going to sound when the real thing comes out 🤩 and I personally really enjoyed my own experience at the listening event!

  35. Poor Billie Joe. He was trying to not say anything wrong. I liked the parts were he talked about his upbringing and children. It's really sweet that he looks up things after his dad. I really admire him for being so open about his stuggels with alcohol. It feels like he's owning it now and he's telling his story rather than the tabloids writting whatever they want. He sound comfortable and happy doing it. He's always seemed so confident on stage. Must be inspiring for other bands to hear that he gets stagefright too. When he talked about the clothes they used during American Idiot. Iconic.

  37. I was actually surprised how good the PA was at my store. I saw other folks complaining about lots of people talking during the album but the one I went to everyone stayed quiet for the most part and just enjoyed the album. It was nice.

  38. Billie has a thing for DEATH on this album. Every song mentions death except for Suzie and Father to a Son - Killing me, suicide, cemetary, dead friends, bored to death, glad you're dead, dead man walking, one foot in the grave, gonna meet my maker, dead weight, dead on arrivial, urgent care, Bowie died, killing, shooting, bloody, murder, dumb way to die, we all die young someday. Also, Billie's had some days sick in bed. Poop the bed, sick in bed again. I hope Billie is feeling better today.

  45. I also thought the listening party would be the day before release, but I loved that they did it the weekend before. Personally, it made sure I could go. Otherwise, I'd have to go after work and it would be tough. Holding it on the weekend means a higher chance that lots of people will show up out of sheer curiosity. Plus, it's also good for record shops. I saw so many folks walking out with random vinyl they found while listening to the album.

  47. I think that Adeline for the song is the embodiment of failure. The song describe a depression crisis, and Adeline had to close because it wasn't making any money. To me, is that Billie had struggles with accepting failure, and that shows in a long array of songs. That adds with his drinking/pills problem, his impostor syndrome, the detachment of his past and the need of connection. All staks, and it falls.

  48. With Warner I guess I'm gonna get the album a month after the release and the signed CD too.
