Yes they’re playing OEB with an intro by Billie saying the song is basically a revenge fantasy and a universal feeling. They also played some easter eggs like Walking the Dog from the Dookie demos and The Longshot for example. They go pretty deep. There is a lot of repetition but I’ve noticed they’ve added songs since they started4 points

I'm split on the timing of a potential announcement: A: Wait until June/July so that Saviors has plenty of room to breathe B: Announce this and promote it shortly after Saviors release (April-ish) to increase visibility of Saviors Anyway, this is what I wish for: Live album of either Vh1 Storytellers and/or that first live performance in Hollywood Demos Outtakes from Cigarettes and Valentines (that were miraculously found and recovered!)4 points

It’s amazing how this song is staying at the top of the charts week after week. That’s a much stronger sign than when they hit number one and just drop off4 points

I was listening to this in the car the other day and it was so cool hearing random GD songs on the radio! Sweet 26, Amy, East Jesus Nowhere, Hold On, aove version of Road to Acceptance, Dry Ice, covers. It's so cool! I only caught some chatter from Mike and Billie about Warning (Mike called it a precursor to AI) and LMNB.4 points

SPOILER Description of each song from Savior by Billboard italy Discussion The American Dream is Killing Me We already know this song. In fact, the song was released at the end of October as the album's lead single, and is also the opening track. It's the typical Green Day-esque triplet (see Longview or Minority, for example), complete with a short, melodic guitar solo. Look Ma, No Brains! Also in order, the second single released is also the second song on the tracklist. It's a much more adrenaline-pumping song than the previous one, in which the great influence that a group like the Ramones has always exerted on Green Day emerges. Short, and lightning-fast. Bobby Sox The song starts with slow and somewhat "sloppy" vocals and guitar chords. After a couple of laps, the whole band attacks with a very aggressive sound. Billie Joe gives an almost metal vocal performance in the chorus, very scratchy, à la Chester Bennington (RIP), something rarely heard before by him in the past. The song itself is fun and catchy; there's even something reminiscent of Weezer in the poise and arrangement. One Eyed Bastard Again the triplet rhythm makes an appearance, here more aggressive and "heavy", with a real riff that sounds almost like the Deep Purple of Black Night. Dilemma We all know about Billie Joe's problems with alcohol and substance abuse. A little less obvious that he decides to get naked and talk about it in a frank and direct way in a song with an unequivocal meaning. Chapeau. 1981 Again the influence of the Ramones is very evident, for another direct and energetic song, perfect for live performances. Goodnight Adeline Here's the good old I-V-VI-V harmonic turn on the chorus (the one of U2's With or Without You, to be specific - a true passe-partout of pop and rock songwriting). It's the typical Green Day song with slow power chord accompaniment in eighths, very melodic and also passionate, since it also deals with the theme of addictions. Coma City The song tells the dystopian vision of a lawless city in chaos and disarray. It starts with an epic intro with guitar ostinato and drum and bass cuts. It closes with a very intense coda, with a nice drum performance by Tré Cool. Corvette Summer A beautiful declaration of love for rock music in its essence. The song itself is quite simple, almost garage rock, as befits a song with this intent. Suzie Chapstick It would seem to be another song dedicated to the theme of addiction, and probably to a person who is no longer with us. The very melodic guitar chords (complete with acoustic guitar, which peeps out for the first time on the record) have something vaguely Springsteen-esque about them. Of note: the song closes with a major seventh chord, a truly unexpected harmonic finesse for a band that bases almost everything on power chords. Strange Days Are Here to Stay It's the demented-apocalyptic piece that again draws from the spirit of American Idiot. The intro has something reminiscent of Billy Bragg's style: just vocals and power chord in slightly distorted guitar downstrokes. Living in the '20s A song that basically continues in the thematic wake of the previous one. The style is akin to the alternative rock of The Hives and here there is a first, real guitar solo (all on a pentatonic scale). Father to a Son The most moving track on the record. It is based on a very acoustic accompaniment (acoustic guitar, piano, strings) and non-trivial harmonic turns. The almost Beatles-esque string section repeats a beautiful ostinato. Saviors Bizarrely, there is nothing particular to say about the title track. An unremarkable piece. Fancy Sauce The last song on 'Saviors' opens with an arpeggiated vocal and guitar intro that sounds almost like a lullaby. Again we hear the unmistakable I-V-VI-V ride. It closes with a rather long instrumental coda, excellent to hear live. Enjoy!3 points

"Saviors" Review (Italian Billboard) emoji:article: Article r/greenday - "Saviors" The American Dream Is Killing Me We already know this one. The song was released in late October as the lead single of the album, and it's also the opening track. It's the typical marching triplet characteristic of Green Day (think Longview or Minority), complete with a short, melodic guitar solo. Selected lyrics: "From sea to shining sea / Whitewasted upon the beach / My country under siege / On private property." Green Day storming capitalism. Look Ma, No Brains! Also, to keep things in order, the second single released is the second track on the list. It's a much more adrenaline-fueled piece than the previous one, where the strong influence of a band like the Ramones, always exerted on Green Day, emerges. Fast, short, and electrifying. Selected lyrics: "Nonsense is my heroin." We're in full American Idiot mood. Bobby Sox It starts with slow voice and accordion-like guitar chords, a bit sloppy. After a couple of rounds, the full band kicks in with a very aggressive sound. Billie Joe himself delivers an almost metal vocal performance in the chorus, very gritty, almost Chester Bennington-like (RIP), something rarely heard from him in the past. The song itself is fun and catchy, with hints of Weezer in its demeanor and arrangement. Selected lyrics: "Do you wanna be my girlfriend? / We’ll walk the cemetery and I’ll kiss you again / And make our dead friends blush." A zombie date story. One Eyed Bastard The triplet rhythm reappears, here more aggressive and "heavy," with a proper riff that almost sounds like Deep Purple's "Black Night." Selected lyrics: "I always liked you but I’m glad that you’re all dead"; "Vendetta is a friend of mine / Revenge is sweeter than wine." The "violent" component we wouldn't expect from Green Day (although it's not clear exactly who it's directed against). Dilemma We all know about Billie Joe's struggles with alcohol and substances. It's less expected that he decides to lay it bare and talk about it frankly in a song with an unequivocal meaning. Hats off. Selected lyrics: "I was sober, now I’m drunk again / I’m in trouble and in love again / I don’t want to be a dead man walking." 1981 Again, the influence of the Ramones is very evident, for another direct and energetic piece, perfect for the live setting. Selected lyrics: "She is a cold war in my head, and I am East Berlin"; "Pain / Commies and cocaine / / Slam dance in acid rain / We live the dream for 15 minutes of fame”. A bizarre dream of an over-the-Berlin-Wall jet set. Goodnight Adeline Here's the good old harmonic I-V-VI-V progression in the chorus (the one from U2's "With or Without You," for reference, a true pop and rock songwriting staple). It's the typical Green Day song with slow eighth-note power chord accompaniment, very melodic, and passionate, as it also deals with the theme of dependencies. Selected lyrics: “Some days are holidays / Some days you call your mother / Some days you’re sober / But you’re still waking up with a hangover.” Coma City The song tells the dystopian vision of a lawless and anarchic city in disarray. It starts with an epic introduction with a guitar ostinato and breaks of drums and bass. It closes with a very intense outro, featuring a great drum performance by Tré Cool. Selected lyrics: “Coma city / Don’t call the cops / Word on the street is / They all quit their jobs.” Corvette Summer A beautiful declaration of love for rock music in its essence. The song itself is quite simple, almost garage rock in style, as befits a piece with this intent. Selected lyrics: “Don’t want no money / Don’t want no fame / All I want is my records / Making my pain go away.” Green Day against fame. Suzie Chapstick It seems to be another song dedicated to the theme of dependencies, and probably to a person who is no longer there. The very melodic guitar chords (including an acoustic guitar, making its first appearance on the album) have something vaguely Springsteenian. Nerd note: the piece closes with a major seventh chord, a truly unexpected harmonic finesse for a band that almost entirely relies on power chords. Selected lyrics: “Will I ever see your face again / Not just photos from an Instagram / Will you say hello from across the street / From a place and time we used to meet.” Strange Days Are Here to Stay It's the crazy-apocalyptic piece that again draws from the spirit of American Idiot. The intro has something reminiscent of Billy Bragg's style: only vocals and downstroke power chords on a slightly distorted guitar. Selected lyrics: “Ever since Bowie died / It hasn’t been the same / All the madmen going mental / Grandma’s on the fentanyl now / Strange days are here to stay.” Living in the 20s A song that essentially continues on the thematic path of the previous one. The style is akin to the alternative rock of The Hives, and here, there's a first, real guitar solo (all on a pentatonic scale). Selected lyrics: “Another shooting in a supermarket / […] / I drink my media and turn it into vomit / […] / Congratulations, best of luck and blessings / We’re all together and we’re living in the 20s.” Father to a Son The most moving piece of the album. It relies on a very acoustic accompaniment (acoustic guitar, piano, strings) and non-trivial harmonic progressions. The almost Beatlesque string section repeats a beautiful ostinato. Selected lyrics: “You’re a lighthouse in a storm / From the day that you were born”; “Well, I made a few mistakes / But I’ll never break your heart / A promise / Father to a son”; “I never knew a love / Could be scarier than anger.” The most beautiful verses from Green Day in Saviors. Saviors Bizarre that there's nothing particular to say about the title track. A piece not worthy of note. Selected lyrics: “We are the last of rockers / Making a commotion.” Fancy Sauce The last song of Green Day's Saviors opens with an introduction of vocals and arpeggiated guitar that sounds almost like a lullaby. Again, we hear the unmistakable I-V-VI-V progression. It closes with a rather long instrumental outro, excellent in a live perspective. Selected lyrics: “We all die young someday.” A new philosophy of life Here's the same article with some lyrics attached3 points

They should hire me as curator, giving me access to the vault. You guys would love it. Foam, Trilogy and Here Comes the Shock 25/8 and every cover Green Day have ever done.2 points

I think is doable that they announce the box set this year. For content they have a lot to choose from, but I'll going safe for now: - Preproduction Demos - Full Album with B-sides - Irving Plaza 2004 I'd like to hear certain songs of the phone calls posted on greenday.com as well in better quality, or maybe C&V to kill the myth for once and all. EDIT: What about a longer release of Heart Like a Handgranade? John said he could do easily 2 hours per song!!!2 points

It'd be very sweet to get a box set this year, or something to commemorate the 20th anniversary. Since the theme of the tour is also going to be the 20th anniversary of American Idiot. I think it's likely that they'll release at least something to celebrate it. An American Idiot box set could potentially include: - Live versions of every American Idiot song - Demos and outtakes (Unlike the 90s albums, we don't have much information about the American Idiot ones, aside from a few) - Cigarettes and Valentines demos?2 points

If its really just a cardboard sleveve yes, but RevRad for example has the same length as a normal plastic cd case. And I hope that it's not a 12x12 cardboard sleeve without a booklet. That would be so boring. (Like the foxboro hot tubs cd)1 point

I think since early listens start 1/13, I’ll probably take a hiatus from here until midnight starting 1/19 once it drops. Want to go in as fresh as possible and have 99% decided not to do a listening party.1 point

Considering the biggest acts out today barley go platinum, i think that's highly unlikely I do think saviors will debut at #1 on the billboard charts though1 point

Austrian radio stations are saying that Saviors could be as successful as American Idiot. HAHA!1 point

Especially because this will ultimately happen to every generation. Green Day was one of the biggest bands when I was a teenager and that was only 15 years ago. Now I’m almost 30 and people who are younger than me enjoy different stuff (not all of them, obviously, but a majority of them). But in 20 years from now, teenagers probably won’t listen to Taylor Swift or The Weeknd anymore, not because these aren’t good musicians but because they’ll have their own idols. That’s just the way it goes.1 point

I find it funny that they chose Master of Puppets to play on Green Day Radio, considering It's the one Metallica song they used to tease all the time during the Warning tour.1 point

Maybe it's a very dumb question but when I read that Rob Cavallo, Chris Lord-Alge and Ted Jensen are reunited with Green Day, I thought that the production of Saviors would be just breathtaking, because 21st Century Breakdown and the Trilogy (yes, I love the production of the Trilogy) were already so good at that time. But although we have 10-15 years of technological progress and progress of all their skills between these two albums and Saviors, the songs on Saviors don't really sound better. I mean, they sound really good but I would still say that 21stCB is their best sounding album although it's almost 15 years old. So why is that? Is nowadays sound quality already so good that we don't hear improvement anymore on "regular" headphones and speakers?1 point

It's cool that they're playing side projects too but I just heard them say "This is The Network" and they played Are We the Waiting1 point

The xm green day thing is temporary, I do not understand why everyone is so crazy for it, you can play every song from your phone at any given time. This is not the normal radio, I do not see the big fuss about any of this. And go ahead and attack me, weirdos The only slight bit that was cool was hearing a lil back story about a song , but that's it. Nothing is amazing that songs like Rusty James is playing. You can play it literally any time you want. Hearing these songs on your local radio station, now that would be cool!1 point
