Looks like interest in the video also increased views for TADIKM and LMNB. Those were averaging 12000 and 10000 views a day respectively this past week, and yesterday got 15000 and 13000.13 points

I love this line because you can carry the “sober/drunk” comparison throughout everything he’s saying. The once sober part of him knows he’s in trouble, the drunk part of him is in love with this life. It’s honestly astonishing to me that he did this video. It’s emotional to watch and I can’t even imagine how incredibly humbling and challenging it would be to act that out onscreen. I hope he knows that we realize it’s a big deal to put himself out there like that. As someone who struggles with anxiety like he does, I think he’s so ridiculously brave to be so open about the stuff he battles.12 points

I just hope Billie knows how much we love his honesty. He is amazing for acting out his nightmare for us.12 points

I wonder if the audible titled Welcome to my Panic inspired the lines “Welcome to my problem” and “welcome to my nightmare”?11 points

He’s an inspiration to me as well as the bravest person with anxiety that I know. I’m sure the decision to be surrounded by his friends for the video instead of random actors helped him a lot. He had his whole support system there while he did it.10 points

Should be able to capture it, they air TV stuff on a free subscription service so I'll make an account to capture this.9 points

Genius lyric. He’s so good at the lines that appear simple on the surface but have deep meaning9 points

This song's been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it For being a serious song I love that it's still catchy! Love the music video too6 points

Yesss omg the part where he just kinda flops backwards onto the drums and Tre catches him makes me wanna squeeze him and I can't explain why lmaooo Also count me as part of the Red Shirt Demander Association 😍 Ha, I actually was going to after I first watched the video (because that passes as a pout right?? ) but I was too lazy to try and get a screenshot Might have to now though That feel when you're jealous of Mike Dirnt's lips for.. *checks notes* Being on Billie 😍 Also, about the convo on the previous page about Billie's name, yes!! It's so odd bc Billie and Joe separately are fine but Billie Joe is just weird lmao. Billie by itself is adorable tho, it even looks cute written down 😅6 points

It's so great to see that every single of the new album so far has a different style and sort of gets pre-AI fans and post-AI fans together5 points

Was just listening to Holy Toledo! and it struck me how similar in content it is to Dilemma. “I wanna go where the trouble begins” “we’re hellraisers/deathwish cravers” “killing myself just to live” Party sound with a heavy dose of regret On another note, I hate how YouTube puts thumbnails all over the last 15-20 seconds of a video. I want to see the last quick cuts, they’re important to the story and because half the image is obscured they’re hard to make out. Directors put a lot of work into these videos and the dumb clickbait goes right on top like its nothing. I’d like to see a version with them removed if possible5 points

I told my bf we can't go to his parents house for New Year's because Green Day is on TV 😂 He was very supportive.5 points

Went past Ocean Way today. And can confirm the Whisky is covered in GD posters. No tiny man in a big hat out there today though.4 points

I like how hardcore his voice is in this song. Can't even imagine how aawesome this album is going to be4 points

Listening to this song in the car is like an out-of-body experience. I know it’s not new for Billie to growl or yell a bit in songs, but the amount he’s doing it and the emotion he’s putting into it in this song just hits me different. I can’t even imagine what an incredible song this will be performed live.4 points

I think they intended to have Sam Bayer shoot all their trilogy videos too. He did Oh Love and Kill the DJ. Then Billie’s rehab prevented any more videos being made with the band and you ended up with ones like Stray Heart and X Kid that they weren’t in at all. Dilemma is my favorite since Back in the USA because I like videos that tell a story.4 points

I think Green Day made a great move hiring the Baxleys for their videos this cycle. All of the videos have had a really clear artistic vision and were very well executed. They each told a story of the song that helped elevate it. As art, they complement the songs in the way that videos should at their best. By contrast, the FOAM videos were a mess. The scrapped FOAM video led to a boring performance shoot with B roll that did nothing for the song. Oh Yeah was okay, but it didn’t help me to understand what the song was about very much, and FRA was basically hockey promo. Without one directing team behind all the videos, the results lacked cohesion. What we’re seeing now is something completely different, similar to the way Sam Bayer made a great collection of videos for AI that all went together. Hats off to Alice and Ryan Baxley and welcome to the Green Day fam!4 points

@jengdThat looks to me like when they were in Paris, I think? I seem to remember very brief footage from a press conference at a hotel. We haven’t really gotten much from whatever press they did there, other than the song descriptions that were given and then taken back lol.3 points

He may have had other commitments but could it have anything to do with fact that he's been sober for a good while now? Just a random thought3 points

I think this is a top 3 song for them in the last 10-11 years, and maybe top 15 in the last 23 years. Pretty cool!3 points

I noticed with this single, each of the singles for far have the words death, killing, or suicide. Seeing a theme.3 points

I was listening to all three songs today and agree, they’re a lot of fun. They represent different sounds from the band’s career, but are unified by really punchy, energetic guitars. The all sound so full. I think this album is gonna have a lot of bangers based on what we’ve heard so far combined with the 1972 teasers.3 points

Just remembered this piece where Zac Carper (Alice Baxley’s brother & FIDLAR singer) said that BJ helped him kick his heroin addiction. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/how-green-days-billie-joe-helped-fidlar-singer-kick-heroin-make-new-lp-52359/amp/ In another article (Consequence of Sound) he said: “I probably wouldn’t be sober today if Billie Joe didn’t call. He really helped me when no one else was there.”3 points

Holy shit. A song by Billie Joe about coming to terms with the fact that he is mortal, and his behaviors pre-iHeartRadio were a slow cycle that was killing him. Maybe even a song about his post-iHeart stint in rehab? I don't think we've seen a song this sharp, biting and personal since, I mean, I don't even know. This one hit me in the feels. I've never been a partier, never touched anything heavier than pot, never been a heavy drinker, although I am capable of a good binge in the right company, and I still feel him. It's not GD's best song of the past whatever years, not even my favorite song of the past whatever years (my heart belongs to thee, Still Breathing), but it is the biggest gut punch I've felt from a GD song that I can remember. Maybe I'm misinterpreting it, but I hope I'm not. This is a brilliant song that's going to fly under the radar to some extent, and it shouldn't. It's too good.3 points

Hmmm....Wikipedia says the sessions started in 2020, so maybe we were right about OEB being a late 2020 recording? And does this mean Pollyanna and Holy Toledo were part of the 1972/Saviors sessions? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saviors_(album) EDIT: Oops, meant to post this in the Saviors thread!!!2 points

So when it comes to excitement I just don’t get hyped up for albums that much anymore but I definitely listen to the songs and they either stick with me or they dont. I had general positive reviews in October but I have raving reviews now. I havent gone a day without singing the chorus to LMNB to myself. Same with American Dream. Dilemma is also just stuck with me. They all fit with the GD back catalog in their own way and hold their own. I think we are about to get a solid album in January. Like AI, I think everything song will stand on it’s own and keep the listener dialed in but given the timeline this will be compared and contrasted to Rev Rad. I think this will be considered one of the better post AI albums from the band and considered a big return to form.2 points

Had a dream I was at my mother's house and Billie was trying to sleep in her bed and I was in the room with him and another fan. He fell asleep and I was drawing around the outline of the duvet on the mattress with a green marker pen, and the other fan kept telling me to stop because Billie doesn't like people drawing him when he's asleep. I was like, I'm not drawing him I'm tracing the duvet, and she kept getting annoyed saying he wouldn't like it as his kids used to do it and it pissed him off? Then she told me he used to share porn mags with his kids I was like wut 😐 Billie then woke up and suddenly the bed was covered in games and dolls and stuff. I was helping him clear up and put them away so he could go back to sleep, and then the other fan gave him some paracetamol and was helping him brush his teeth but the toothbrush was all bendy so he couldn't brush properly. Then I found his cigs and a lighter and put them on the table so they didn't get lost and Billie got annoyed for some reason lol2 points

I think you are right and it’s quite noticeable that this is not your usual bunch of extras in this one. Like @pouty bitch said, that scene with him scrabbling on a public toilet floor is so powerful. I wonder if it also deliberately was possibly the best shot of what looks like a rather nice Rolex! Quite a contrast there. I must have watched it 20 times now and I still think wow each time.2 points

It's good that it's a conversation starter about alcohol and it feels like this video should have had a warning like the other two, 😄. I've gotten into some alcohol related trouble, but it's always been easy to simply stop drinking for extended periods and not struggle with it. I have had a few disasters while drinking like ruining someone else's day by becoming a burden or even a legal problem or two. But since 2016, I don't drink to hangover. That's the worst feeling and I have no need for it. I'll have a drink or two here and there but that's about it. So glad I don't struggle with it because man, I got so many other problems.2 points

There are youtube extensions that get rid of end cards, I would send it but I am on phone. You should be able to find it with "youtube end card remover extensiom" or something.2 points

It will be amazing live but also a challenge for him. I remember what a strain Fire, Ready, Aim was and this has similar high notes. I hope he can pull it off. I guess we’ll find out on New Year’s Eve. But I look forward to hearing as many Saviors songs as they can cram into the setlist next tour.2 points

Thinking about it, and the two other things that hit me, are in the party scene, a lot of it is random hands handing drinks to Billie, rubbing his hair, etc. And in the later bar scene and wrong house scene, it's Billie by himself. Everyone else had gone home.2 points

And I think consistency is key. If you look at their best records most music videos were directed by the same guy. I think most of the 90s ones were the same dude right? You see consistency across dookie to some of warning atleast. AI had Sam who also did BIAB and I loved that he linked clips of that into the JOS music video. I guess somewhere around the trilogy the focus on consistency fell off. Maybe the deals fell through because timelines were shifted? But then that became Rev Rad and Foamf.. we do know the band was also trying to get out of their contract going back to post 21cb. I know we argue about this a lot but I think it’s clear their unhappiness with their deals took their hearts out of it for a while. Wirh Saviors I see a return to focus across the entire product. From the songs itself to the music videos. Now let’s see how they approach the shows. I assume the shows will change. This album has been received positively so they’ll incorporate it into their show. For a band in their 50s that is the measure of success. Not being a picture on a magazine or being in the top 40.2 points

As a licensed mental health therapist who’s bleeds Green Day and who battles with PTSD/Depression/Anxiety this song and video just speaks volumes. This, Still Breathing, Lazy Bones…amongst others just speaks truth to mental health and addiction I feel it’s an accurate and sad video I feel it’s “funny” until the video shows Billie is the brunt of the joke then it subtly flips to the dark side of the party. Brave and honest lyrics as someone who struggles with mental health and do my best to help others I truly think this song can save people and have them seek help. No BS I hope this single blows up and I hope Billie is in a great head space he really is in peak writing firm hear and I can almost feel the hurt in his vocals similar to wake me up and still breathing I feel it’s so genuine and it’s just beautifully strong and inspiring by also respecting the topic.2 points
