  1. I (OK, technically my mom's phone number) won the radio station contest! (Watch them be worse seats than the one I bought and am bitching about šŸ˜‚)

  3. I don’t think anything has been confirmed. A lot of people just assumed it was re-recorded because they thought it sounds like a FOAM track and because of the similarities to Pinkā€˜s ā€œSo Whatā€œ. Personally, I don’t think the new version will sound much different from the leaked one.

  6. I agree @CherryBombs&Gasoline. I am just seriously revisiting the trilogy for the first time in a while and I really kinda love how you can do a build-your-own-playlist with the albums. Brutal Love has been a top 5 Green Day song for me from the moment I heard it, Lazy Bones is also way up there for me, and there are a lot of other standout tracks, too. It’s unfortunate how overlooked these songs are/that they have a reputation for being mediocre, because many of them are great. Music is so visceral and so some of the songs still bring me right back to how I felt listening in 2012. Which breaks my heart to revisit. But with time, I’ve definitely been able to separate them from the surrounding context and enjoy the trilogy more.

  7. I think Uno is an underrated album and probably the most cohesive record of the trilogy. I still think that releasing three albums was a bad idea, but the trilogy is not nearly as bad as some people claim. Some songs are mediocre, some songs are bad, but there are also a lot of bangers, and Uno is no exception. Stay the Night is my favorite but I actually like all of the songs with the exception of Troublemaker. Furthermore, I believe that Oh Love gets way too much hate. It was a good single and I still enjoy it.

  8. I have a feeling Father to a Son will be the next single, based on the songs mentioned in the podcast with Mike

  9. I would think we won’t start getting those detailed reviews until late December/early January. It doesn’t come out until mid-January; November seems really early to me to be getting a lot of info.

  10. I don't think anyone was expecting tickets to be $50 but I don't think people expected them to be 200+ per ticket. Lots of folks can't swing that and it's disappointing. The state of concerts is getting to the point where if you don't have mad disposable income, you miss out.

  11. It was published by Rolling Stone Italy and then removed. I wonder if when they play these records in advance for journalists they ask them not to reveal too much too early. This track by track breakdown with lyric samples was a little over the line I guess

  12. The back vocal from 1981 (Goodbye, Farewell) sound a lot like Foo Fighters, Monkey Wrench (fall in, fall out)

  13. For specific fans not caring about certain bands, that’s very subjective and doesn’t change the objectivity of the value being provided. There’s also the chance you go to the show and actually give them a listen and you enjoy yourself. I’m surprised at the complaints about pricing. I knew there’d be some objections but now it’s becoming whiny, old and stale. Did everyone think tickets were gonna be 50-80 dollars? Does nobody see the cost of gas? The cost of living/food? I don’t understand, this has been ongoing steady since the mid 2000s… The cost of the tour has gone up significantly and they’re hitting way less stops along the way. They’re spending entire months of their lives to deliver the service to us. There’s a $ value on that. At the end of the day when you finish work you go home to your family, they get on a bus. My biggest pet peeve right now are people who complain about the piss poor status of art as a whole but cannot shell out anything to support. Then there’s the attitude of ā€œwell they dont have to work soā€¦ā€. They have a hard job and I can guarantee most 9-5ers and shift workers aren’t designed to pump in the hours or level of effort required to put on a tour like this successfully, let alone make an album. There’s also an amazing road crew that helps put the stage together and make sure they standardize the experience from town to town. They also don’t get to go home to their families at the end of the night.

  15. My favorites are Stay the Night and Rusty James. I’m more of a Dos and Tre person, but Uno has some good ones!

  17. Oh Brutal Love. I loved this song as soon as I heard it. Never expected green day to do something like this. It harkens old soul singers like sam cooke and I still absolutely love it. I was fortunate enough to see them play it live on the 99 Revolutions Tour and it's a moment I cherish.

  18. i can hear it! "fa-ther-to-a-son" if that's truly the riff and the song is about BJA's father, i can see this song being even more tear producing than wake me up when september ends

  19. You’re correct, I’ll still be a hot mess.

  20. I’ve always really liked the trilogy. Every album has at least some of Green Day’s best songs ever. it’s a shame they didn’t get proper time to promote otto the fullest potential.

  21. No he’s joking. The only confirmed lyrics are these (but you’ll still be a hot mess): ā€œYou’re a lighthouse in a storm / From the day that you were bornā€; ā€œWell, I made a few mistakes / But I’ll never break your heart / A promise / Father to a sonā€; ā€œI never knew a love / Could be scarier than anger.ā€

  22. Agreed. And the fact they were in such a panic, is the leaked version the version on the album?

  23. It makes perfect sense to me why the mods were so strict about not sharing the OEB leak while not caring too much about the other leaks, they probably knew this whole time it would be on 1972/Saviors!!!

  24. dang, those songs actually sound very nice, wish they would have been present in foam

  25. Just to make sure I've got this. A third single is a definite, either before Christmas/end of year, or January prior to album release. Also, that single should be a ballad, being the popular choice on here, or have we had some hint? That ballad assumed to be 'Father and Son'. Therefore, 1981 or OEB as the third single is a no, no. Talking of the latter, it looks like I am the odd one out, as I really like the leaked version of OEB. It's been confirmed that the song has been re-recorded for the album?

  27. If Father and Son has the line "I'm awake" to the instrumental chords of Wake Me Up When September Chords. Man. That would be epic. I'm awake /Standing in the rain / still breathing / still crying from the pain

  28. I think "Boulevard of broken dreams" was the second official single from American idiot not what I would consider a ballad, but mid tempo rocker and I think it actually did better than the first single. you are correct 21 guns was the second single off 21st century breakdown and yes it was a pretty big hit even appearing in feature film transformers revenge of the fallen
    2 points
  29. I also think that a ballad will be the next and "big" single. Didn't American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown really blow up when the ballads WMUWSE and 21 Guns were released?

  30. I actually heard it on my local rock radio last week while driving to work! It was a shock because they usually only play old GD (dookie/AI) songs.

  31. I know the chances are almost zero, but I might politely ask for an advance of the album. I'll tell them I am That Dude, the one who loves even Trilogy and FOAM - I'm sure to give it a glowing review. I might even boost sales by like 5 people or something. You never know.

  32. That’s disappointing to hear. I guess the reality is there’s no way for a bunch of 11 year olds to get industry and media attention without at least some connections but they really put themselves out there as a DIY punk success story because they were unusual.

  33. @GDFan2019 That’s a good point. I just wonder how much it helps the band to have reviews out two months early, you know? Yes, it might result in some pre-orders, but for a lot of people, they might read the review and say, ā€œhuh, I’ll have to check that album outā€ and then forget by the time Jan. 19 rolls around. It’s definitely awkward timing because of the holidays.

  35. I mean Chester's heavier vocals are metal. Their first 2 albums are nu-metal, which is a subgenre of metal characterized by rock/metal and hip-hop. For those first 2 albums, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn cover the hip-hop side of Linkin Park mostly while the guitars, drums and Chester's vocals cover the heavier/metal side I have no idea if what is said in the article is accurate or not and it's best to take it with a grain of salt. But the notion that Chester's screams are not metal is not going to be the reason it turns out to be inaccurate

  36. The way they described bobby sox in the Italian billboard article is wild but again grain of salt because people hear shit differently I'm willing to bet whoever said it's gonna sound like weezer with metal chorus like Linkin Park is gonna be proven inaccurate the reason being they actually consider Linkin Park metal lol

  37. My friend saying he wants to buy tickets to the SF show, as soon as he saw the prices, "Nevermind, maybe I'll try to win tickets on the radio" He thinks I'm crazy for spending $600. The things I do for my favorite band...

  39. Seems like TADIKM reaching #1 on Rock and Alternative Airplay gave it a boost, huh? Even LMNB gained a few more streams, probably 'cause some people chose to check it out after listening to TADIKM.

  40. TADIKM hit #1 on billboard now we just need LMNB to reach #2

  41. Speaking of Father to a Son, now I'm really convinced that this is the song!!! The do-do-do-do-do riff matches up with Fa-ther-to-a-son!!!

  42. Boulevard of Broken Dreams is absolutely a power ballad, as is Wake Me Up When September Ends and 21 Guns

  43. Don't they just mean the track names were leaked? I don't think they're talking about the songs themselves, or the lyrics Though, idk why they said 3-13 instead of 3-15. It wasn't even really reddit or genius that leaked them, they were leaked on music stores and that leak would've made its way to the GD subreddit and Genius.com

  44. I don't think the normal prices were too high. I'm angry at the fact that everything was sold in a minute and the only pit tickets left was $760.

Longview, Basketcase, When I Come Around, J.A.R, Good Riddance, Minority, American Idiot, Holiday, Blvd, Wake Me Up, Know Your Enemy, 21Guns, Oh Love, Bang Bang, Still Breathing, Father of All, Oh Yea. TADIKM all went #1 on some type of chart so we got consistency and most likely more number ones…looking at you father to son

  47. All I know is I hope there's absolutely no garage rock on saviors they have done it to death now I wouldn't mind a ballad with early 60s guitar chords but that rockabilly stuff needs to go permanently

  48. Wow, I honestly didn't expect Stay The Night to be so many other peoples favourite Uno song also. I have loved that song ever since the first time I heard it being played at a sound check long before the album came out. It's not only got a fantastic intro, choruses, pre-choruses and verses, but it might also have one of my favourite solos/bridges/breakdowns in any Green Day song ever. I love this song so much and I still hope to see it live one day. It's also in desperate need of an OTIS mix too, so if anyone associated with Green Day sees this, please tell them to give this song some more love! Rusty James is my 2nd and Fell for You is probably my 3rd, either that or Kill the DJ.

  49. This is really interesting. It looks like that the original mixing engineer Green Day wanted for American Idiot was Tom Lord Alge (Chris's brother), but since they didn't want to go to Miami to his studio, Tom recommended his brother Chris in LA, who by that point already mixed nimrod and some live stuff and was also Rob Cavallo's right hand. It's kind of weird. Tom was known at that time for mixing a lot of pop punk / alternative stuff like Blink 182, Sum 41, Goo Goo Dolls etc., so I guess that was the connection the band wanted. I'm glad that it turned out like it did in the end. CLA also got his first Grammy for American Idiot.
